Seeking Mr Eaten's name

Fastest? chess for sudden insights, use the faction training for watchful options: i believe those are hell and constables. I believe that the bringing the revolution offers 5 cp an action for your choice, and one choice is watchful, so if you aren’t attached to quirks, that’s good.

A long while ago, I made an alt specifically for the purposes of Seeking, only to discover the story had since been frozen. Now it’s back, and I can finally use Eliza’s account for the intended purpose. The only problem being… I have absolutely no clue how to progress. She’s drawn the ACE OF HUNGERS the first time, and is now at SMEN 2. I SUSPECT that I should probably start with Blacken your Mind Like Paper, but am not sure what the fastest way for a non-POSI account to grind Mourning Candles is. Could anyone advise?

So, Blacken your Mind is a BAD idea (trust me, I know from experience), as it damages watchful you need to progress through the content. Mourning candles can be gained through the affair of the box, and you continue the seeking story via ‘the Seeking Road’ at your lodgings. I personally recommend using the appalling secrets route of seeking; it’s the cheapest overall (I was able to get to seeking 12 so far with it, and I’m poised for more one I get my watchful up).[/quote]
Remember, you need SMEN 4 to Drown your Secrets. In order to get to 4 without Blackening Your Mind Like Paper, you could;use SotC if you have it at 21, use Marsh-Mired options, or if you think you’re lucky you could go to Mr Pages’ Stall at the entrance of the Labyrinth. The Stall is repeatable and has no downsides, other than the fact that it’s rare as gold dust.

It’s interesting to see this return. And really, I only have one thing to say about all of it.
What. Is. THE. NUMBER?

I guess Eliza’s mind may just have to be Blackened like Paper (after she grinds SotC up a little further while she has the Watchful, first), before she can start throwing Secrets at it.

Wait, so is there really supposed to be just the one copy of the calling card for all players to share one at a time?

Nah, it just means that you really shouldn’t have more than one card at a time. Otherwise it gets eaten.

But according to NiteBrite, sending it out leaves you with no cards at all. So only one is in circulation throughout all players. (Unless a new source is found)

What Sara said. There’s definitely more than one out there already, as someone is already at smen 29, but no one individual should have more than one like I did from the past if that makes sense.

A new source was found.

Do we know where this source is?

(EDIT: I’m good with chess for now.)

having lost 924 Appalling Secrets on a failure to raise Seeking to 13, I’m disinclined to continue that path (for now, at least, while we see what the weekly cards offer), and would be glad to rebuild my stock.

I would also appreciate a number of chess requests.

I accidentally got SMEN 1, but I don’t actually want to Seek the Name. How do I get to a point where I can opt out?

A SMEN card should be popping up soon, you can just use that to drop out.

I got &quotTwo of Bats,&quot but that doesn’t seem to have an option to drop out either. What card am I looking for?

An alphabet of scars, or a banner with a strange device.

Sorry to hear that. Is it true that the action consumes ALL Appalling Secrets one has, not just the number which is listed as the requirement?

True, dov, it does.
On a similar matter, I’ve failed a 83% challenge of Blacken Your Mind and lost 100 Watchful, gaining not even 1 SMEN.
This thing can bite! =)

On failure, it eats 77SMEN Appalling Secrets (ie, the requirement). On success, it eats 77(SMEN + 1): I think this is just because the quality effects are the wrong way around, so it increases SMEN and then tries to take away your secrets, so you lose 77 more than it actually requires

Ah, thank you for the correction. Thought it blanks all, perhaps I was just under the (SMEN+1)*77
