I have a Rat but no Seeking candles. I take it that I should use mine immediately?

Maybe this question warrants its own thread, but what’s the fastest way to grind Watchful? I got a little greedy with the “Blacken your Mind Like Paper” option and it’s hard to progress with a Watchful of 23.
