Seeking Mr Eaten's name

I kind of also want to get my 7th win on the tournament of lilies.[/quote]

My plant is extremely bad at the tournament, and would hopefully help you on your way to through the tournament!

(Shit, I forgot to check what I needed before getting Beau’s and I don’t have 150 Memories of Light, which I suspect is still the cost since all the prior costs/content seem to be the same . . . )

I asked spacemarine9 what he recommends to take before going to the carnival and he said &quotat least 3330 moon pearls (probably more) and 150 memories of light&quot

Does anyone have any ideas as to how quitting Seeking, whether that be via A Bad End or at Avid Horizon, will occur after obtaining all 7 candles? Without spoiling much, it feels a bit uncertain as to how the last candle would be affected after losing all your Seeker progress. Considering the last candle’s…uniqueness, there is some question on whether or not you would keep it or not, and how either could be explained from a mechanical and narrative perspective. Dropping out of SMEN may erase your severed head, but how would it be explained that you have your body intact once again? And would we really be allowed to keep the severed head item since we would have a free candle after quitting? Not to mention that giving up the Name would also drop you of the dark hungry magic that’s keeping you alive.

Remember the Treacheries. When Time, Space, and Life do not work how they ought to, the possibilities are limitless.

The Head is only one possible way to achieve Gawain’s. There are three total, of which two seem much less harmful to your own being.

Ah, I had forgotten. Did someone test those out to see if they work though?

Has anyone tried “one last voyage” while seeking the name? Does it do anything different? (Alexis’ hint sounds like it could be for this)

The Priest was chosen and worked fine, iirc.

I tried it last night for giggles (I have to sell it all anyway, I may as well enjoy it while I have it), and the text was exactly the same as usual. Of course, I’m only at Seeking 14. It’s entirely possible that a specific or higher level does give new text.

Well now, don’t I just feel silly. And here I thought beheading was the only option. What are the two other ways of obtaining Saint Gaiwan’s Candle, and what are their costs? Also, even if it isn’t mandatory to progress, I’m curious as to how it would work should you give up Seeking.

I’m surprised that anything other than offering oneself works. What was the narrative justification? And do you end up with Your Own Severed Head somehow, or with a different item?

A head must be severed in order to emplace the wick. It need not necessarily be your own.

In other news, it seems they changed the thing where an additional 77 Appalling Secrets are consumed when you drown your secrets.

Just checked with an alt. Indeed, good news.

Though I’ve also noticed that this option now started costing the wines (which until now were only a requirement. However, the amount of wine consumed is according to the raised SMEN level, not the original one (so, basically, consumes one extra Bottle of Greyfields 1879 on success). Definitely not a big deal, compared to the Appalling Secrets.

I started SME before it was locked, and have just resumed it. I’m up to SMEN 12, but unsure if I should proceed, or if it would be best to start it from the beginning.
And yes… I do know Seeking is foolhardy… but I must KNOW!

They made Seeking easier? Ooooooo, that’s going to torment the Seekers.

Well, unbugged, assuming it originally was a bug- which i’m pretty sure it was. All they really did is weaken how nasty the &quotthrow your echoes down a well&quot phase was, and only a little- in the time it takes you to get from lv. 4 to lv. 29, assuming you crafted 0 candles… it’d save you 288.75 echoes. it would still cost you 4943.4 echoes if you never failed a watchful check to hit lv. 29 this way, and the chances of a watchful failure are pretty high.

A more accurate estimate would be probably closer to the 6000-8000 range with candles and with goats and with optimal gear, assuming all secrets were secrets and not say, previously ray-drenched cinders you sold so you might get to seek. So ultimately, 288.75 echoes doesn’t really make much difference.

This is probably of interest to the sorts hanging around this thread; a giant memoir I wrote containing four years of Seeking, complete with Words, Pictures and At Least One Gif.
(there’s also a slightly-wonky version on Tumblr if you want to show how hip with the times you are by reblogging it or whatever they do these days)
