Seeking Mr Eaten's name

(I have tried to update the wiki for St Arthur’s Candle, which is in progress for me, but I find it unintuitive and stressful, so please feel free to tidy up after me, I have zero pride of authorship here!)

Important question: I have like 3 years worth of life goals left for my character, but now that SMEN is back I just want to go NORTH while its still fresh and new. I’m wondering if I should fate rush (expensively) 3 years of plans into like a month or if I should just drop everything and go now, restarting these plans on an alt who would take like 7 years to do these same things instead of 3.

Goals:

  1. Second heptagoat - Im about halfway there, but with like $1000 of fate I could conceivably reach this goal asap from fate expeditions. Expensive, but dang would it look cool on my mantle after I’ve gone. This was my goal to complete over the next year.
  2. 7 of all the 4 card lodgings to throw down the well. I’ve got 7 of every other lodgings, but the 4 carders are mad expensive so I hadn’t done it year. This was my plan for the second year. I will probably abandon this plan since I’m throwing lodgings down the well in the future anyways and it would take too long.
  3. Make 7 of every item that its possible to make 7 of. I can get really close to this if I make a lot of echos as mentioned in goal 1 above, make the 7s, then sell the items for the goats. It might not be ~every~ item, but it would be pretty close! This was year 3’s plan (so that it could be done at the -same time- and co-exist with the 2 goats).

I want to do all of these things, but at the same time the lure of the NORTH is very strong. I definitely can’t wait three years, and probably not even one. I feel like, if I’m not on a dedicated seeking grind in like a month I might go mad haha. But dang, to do my goals in that time frame- it’s a lot of cash dollars. But 2 goats man. 2 goats, how cool would that be aaaa.

Fixed that for you! ;P

I don’t know about for you, but for most people I’d say that it’s not worth it to spend thousands of dollars to increment some counters that most people will never see (in the case of goals 2 and 3, anyways) and that won’t net you any new content. But you, well, you’re not most people. You’re not even most people in a well. So maybe go for it? A dollar might be less important to you than it is to me, and in-character Fallen London goals are surely much more important for you than they are for me.

For everyone else, it’s probably better to not let seeking put you in the real-life poor house. Remember, it is just a game after all.

I’ll try to do some cleanup, but what’s missing is the correct image which goes with the various options.

Also: Does this appear as a standalone storylet called &quotSt Arthur’s Candle&quot in the lodgings? Or is this something inside The Seeking Road?

Also #2: Can you find/link the images associated with the &quotA Stench of Betrayal&quot and &quotFootsteps of the False Saints&quot qualities/items?

Interesting. It seems that for some reason that’s a rare quality… what do we know about it?

It is worthwhile to note that the original price of everything seems to have stayed the same.

An option on The Seeking Road (The Number and the Candles) takes you to another storylet called St Arthur’s Candle. I tried to link them?

I will try to do images later!

I’d say if you decide spend a lot of money, goal 1 and goal 3 by extension are the ways to go. Extra lodgings that you’ll promptly lose aren’t particularly memorable, but being the first to get a Heptagoat and then getting a second is incredibly unique. Plus it’s actually something you can display on your mantlepiece :P

Ah, I see that now. It wasn’t linked as an option on The Seeking Road storylet itself, but was listed as its own storylet (with St Arthur’s Candle as an option, instead of a redirected storylet). I’ve updated it accordingly:

The Seeking Road
The Number and the Candles
St Arthur’s Candle (storylet)

I’m assuming here that &quotThe Number and the Candles&quot is a 0-action option which redirects to the St Arthur’s Candle storylet. If not, please let me know how this behaves and I’ll fix it.

(and BTW - can I assume that betraying the Midnight Matriarch actually costs the Matriarch herself?)

The Number and the Candles is, sadly, a 1-action option that redirects. And yes, betraying the MM costs her, sorry, I am so jet-lagged and sleep-deprived and was just trying to get content down before I got my seventh betrayal.

I pm’ed you about images or if you can tell me how I can do it.

NiteBrite, 1000$+ is a lot of money, but it really depends on the value of it for you. How easy can you earn it again in real life? Nonetheless, I believe you should start seeking and forget those achievements. 2 Heptas are unique and crazy, but you already entered the pantheon of FL on so many occasions INCLUDING getting the first Hepta. So why spend the 1000$ and be the first with 2? Someday another will get the second Hepta and that won’t be so unique. But no one can take “First Hepta” from you, or the many many other achievements. So I say, save the money and go enjoy burning your FL life. We are waiting for the new main to do crazy stuff.
But that is, of course, my point of view, without really knowing you outside of FL persona, etc etc.
=)

If you’re asking for opinions, here’s mine.

I agree with Gonen: 2 Heptagoats would be cool. But nowhere near as cool as getting the FIRST EVER HEPTAGOAT. Is having a Heptagoat worth $1,000 in real money?

If it were me, I’d go with the set of goals that was both faster and cheaper to obtain, since they’re all cool goals.

Selfishly: Save the money so if FBG do a kickstarter for Sunless Sea we can get that much closer to whatever sweet, sweet stretch goals there can be!

How important is it to you that you go NORTH with your main account? I’m having a lot of fun trying to rush a fresh alt towards oblivion and I’m pretty sure I’ll manage it in under a year.

All that said, if your going to go NORTH I’d just do it and pursue your goals on a fresh account. It seems like so much of the later part of Seeking is about letting go. Let go of your dreams and ambitions. Let go for you will need nothing. You will have nothing. You will become nothing. Let go and go NORTH.

Plus your new character is going to need something to do.

Alright, fair enough. I’ll give up on those three goals. But how about this one? I just need 4 more tears of the bazaar and to grind to N7 four times to get have 11 Masters Blood. That’s one for every master there is haha. A complete collection. I mean, I’d have to get rid of it before I go, since seeking makes you give these up, but like, when will I ever be this close again? I literally spent 1.5 years doing nothing but blood grinding lol.

If anyone wants to invite me to their salon, I could use the making waves for conversions.

I like it!
And it can be done quite rapidly, putting the effort on AoTB wine prizes and compelling the right card to switch the wines.
Took me half a year leisurely grinding 10 Tears. Bet you can get the 4 in one month.

What Profession are you, NiteBrite?

I just took up being an author. It’s one of my favorites and also very good for making waves for my bucket list tears grind.

I kind of also want to get my 7th win on the tournament of lilies. I sold my plant accidentally just as I got my 6th, and it only recently recovered. So if anyone is willing to fight me in plant tournaments do let me know.

My plant is a useless freeloader and it’s weak (Attending the Needs 11). You can trounce it in the Contest of Strenght as much as you like.

My plant is exceptionally good at losing so you are more than welcome to challenge mine.
