A claimant to the throne occupied by the Traitor Empress has been seen in London. But if he claims descent from the Royal Family, what claims might they make upon him? Perhaps someone ought to warn the poor boy. Perhaps someone ought to make sure he gets where he belongs.
As of right now, you can play (or re-play) the Exceptional Story Reunion, for free! That’s right, without an Exceptional Friendship subscription!
One of the strands of feedback from the latest player survey was that you wanted a better understanding of what an Exceptional Story is like to play, before committing to a subscription. We thought that sounded reasonable, and so we’ve made this story available to whet your appetite for a monthly delivery of similar.
Reunion was the Exceptional Story for June 2021. It’s a pretty juicy one. Written by James Chew, it has key art by Monika Eidintaite, and the editing and QA were done by Olivia Wood. We hope you enjoy it!
Look for An Exceptional Story: Reunion anywhere in London. You’ll unlock it when you’ve achieved level 5 in each of the four Making Your Name storylines.
Subscribing to Fallen London
Exceptional Friendship is the most effective way to support the game, the studio, and all of our endeavours. Predictable income in the games industry is as rare as a diamond the size of a cow, and the regular contributions of our Exceptional Friends enable us to stay independent and experimental. If you’ve contributed before, are doing so now, or hope to do so in future: thank you! We couldn’t do it without you.
All Exceptional Friends receive:
A new Exceptional Story every month
Memories of a Tale from each story to spend on exclusive companions and items
A second candle (up to 40 actions at once)
An expanded opportunity deck: ten cards instead of six
Four additional outfit slots
Once they have Agents, the ability to run an additional concurrent Plot
Access to the House of Chimes including monthly gameplay perks
Enhanced Exceptional Friends receive all of the above, plus:
A past story, or two resets of stories they’ve played from a monthly menu
I’ve finished it, and I have the option to replay it from the beginning for free!
It’s a good one, too - good choice for people to try. Royal family lore, historical figures, queer themes, meaningful choices - good sample of what FL has to offer!
This is awesome! I’m not one of the people this is meant for, since I know what exeptional stories are like, but I remember before I bought my first one, I hesitated a long time (years!) because I didn’t know what that really involved.
This was such a nice bonus to get unexpectedly for free! Royals are always intriguing, and it did a good job of letting us get to know the main char, feeling like we’re guiding him but him still making his own independent choice. Feels like a good pick to draw in people who are on the fence, highly rated but not one of the absolute top most popular so doesn’t set too high a bar.
Will we get one [Memory of a Tale] when we finish this story after it has been made free for everyone? (I have not played it yet, but I am curious now.)
