Thank you, I didn’t think to look there - thought it had to be somewhere in my lodgings. Didn’t remember it being a Fate option either. Back in the day, I did name a few ships, but never a spouse - after all, ships are far more reliable ;)
I don’t know, my spouse hasn’t sunk nearly as often.
Well, you can’t exactly rebuild a spouse
Tell that to Ambition: Nemesis
Tell that to philosophers that think that memories are what make people the same person
The Spouse of Theseus?
Week Ending 5th January
- Tweaked the requirements of the Amber Automaton’s later stages.
- If you purchased the Automaton from Mr Treats during Advent, you can now complete the story until the Christmas season in Fallen London closes, on the last Friday of January.
It’s precisely exchanges like this on the forums, coupled with the continuously exquisite intellectual and artistic value and wit of the writing of the game itself, that make Fallen London, its creators and its afficionados be one of the few reliable sources of hope for humankind I’ve had over the last several years.
Thank you all!
Week Ending 12th January
- When selecting to pursue an Opera after returning to court, the tooltip should now list the correct Working on amount required.
- Locked the 8 Fate branch ‘A stroke of good fortune’ in ‘A weighty decision’ when Carving Out a Reputation at Court.
- Updated the ‘Help’ page with accurate guidance about changing a character’s gender, pointing towards ‘Attend to Matters of Identity’.
- Fixed an issue where Urchin War rewards would start scaling back up after Involvement In the Urchin War 60.
- Options to hide/unhide your term of address in ‘Attend to Matters of Identity’ should now correctly reflect what appears on your profile page.
- Possessing a Boon from the House of Chimes no longer locks you out of obtaining Flasks of Wellspring Water from Moulin.
- Added a new card to the London deck, ‘The Machinations of the Masters’.
- This is accessible with Persuasive 230, A True Denizen of the Neath, and Involved in a Railway Venture 100.
- Added thousands separators to some numbers.
- Due to a bug, the roll-out of this feature in all UI elements has been delayed for now, but is expected for next week.
- Heists and Casing
- Preparing for a Big Score
- Increased the Casing… gain for the pre-POSI branches to be more competitive with other, less visible sources of Casing.
- Toned down Suspicion gain across 3-action branches.
- Added additional stat gain to the 3-action branches to compensate for the action cost.
- Heists
- The consequences of failing a Heist are now slightly less harsh if Target Security is 1 or 2: Suspicion gain is reduced, and a botched escape for these easier jobs is no longer a guaranteed jail sentence.
- Removed the stat requirements for purchasing Advantages (Inside Information, Escape Routes, Intriguing Keys) from ‘Prepare Your Heist’.
- Possessing an Escape Route now makes the Luck check to escape a botched Heist slightly easier.
- Added a handful of additional uses for Intriguing Keys within Heist opportunity cards.
- Preparing for a Big Score
Week Ending 19th January
- It is possible to dismiss the beginning of ‘A Dream of a Thousand Tails’ from your Base-Camp. The story is purchasable from the Fate Page if it has been dismissed in this manner.
- Added thousands separators to remaining numbers.
- Removed the option to purchase 4 Fate.
- Fixed an issue where some interactions with the Bazaar could cause the UI to stop responding.
- It is now possible to dismiss ‘Opportunities for Ingratiation’ without courting the full number of factions, if you so desire.
- Sap of the Cedar of the Crossroads can now be sold for Hinterland Scrip in the Upper River.
- Updated artwork of January at various points throughout the Railway.
- Added a variant of the option to become a citizen of the Tracklayers’ City that better mechanically and narratively accounts for a Complacently Unrevolutionary alignment.
Why?
My first guess would be that card transaction fees went up, making it uneconomical to sell that small an amount. Stores in the US often won’t let you use a card for purchases under $5 for that exact reason.
It also helps to prevent people from nickel and diming themselves into poverty. That was the most expensive way to buy fate, you’re much better off without it.
Week Ending 26th January
- Revised a bug whereby the wrong variant of the Lackey was put in charge of the Tracklayers’ City in extremely specific cases (where Cornelius had previously been Leader before undergoing a dramatic personal transformation, and also the City was Anti-Emancipationist in nature, and furthermore the player had previously converted a Lackey of Mr Fires to their own service).
- It is now possible to shed the tracklayers’ Blithe Indifference to Politics outside of the Fated city reset.
- Added another way to continue the Scheme of the Phoenix in the Tracklayers’ City that does not require Twilit Smuggler.
- Travelling to London from the Tracklayers’ City via train now properly gives Rumours of the Upper River.
Thank goodness for that! I wasn’t going to get my Renown: Criminals up from 11 to 40 anytime soon.
I think you still need renown 40 to begin the Scheme story. This change just lets you get it to level 7 without Twilit Smuggler.
No. You didn’t need to start the Twilight Smuggler story to get access to the Balmoral dumbwaiter, so you could intercept Mr Fires’ letters without Criminals Renown 40.
I guess you’re right, I must have misread the wiki.
Seems like a silly idea story-wise though. It made sense for the whole thing to be locked behind criminal renown and an acquaintance with the person on the other end of the dumbwaiter. Why remove sensible requirements?
Some folks take the RP seriously enough to avoid associating with Criminal elements, and it makes sense to provide them a way to access this story
Here’s hoping it will soon be possible to do the switch to Blithe Indifference without a Fate reset!
Week Ending 2nd February
- Changing ‘Identified with a School:’ and ‘Identified with a Philosophy’ now has consistent action and economy costs.
- Added new reliable early-game source of Scraps of Incendiary Gossip in the Singing Mandrake.
- ‘Celebrate the Feast of the Exceptional Rose!’ is now found under Fifth City Stories.
Week Ending 9th February
- Playing with Soul and Upwards! can now be reset for Fate.
- The location of a certain cave can no longer be sold via faction cards; instead, it can be sold in your Forgotten Quarter Base-Camp.
- The Tracklayers’ City:
- It is now possible to walk back and forth from the City and its founding site after the spur line has been built.
- Communing with the City and the Creditor no longer requires an entry cost for subsequent visits.
- Adjusted the results of ‘Investigate the souvenir stalls’ on the card ‘Merely Passing Through’.
- Slightly reduced the profitability of the higher-efficiency branches on opportunity cards throughout the city.
- Branches that convert larger amounts of Prosperity (62.5 echoes or higher) into other items are no longer discounted.
