Paleontologist: The Bone Market

Tentacles might be useful for building saint skeleton from mammoth / leviathan ribcage.

I just did that and got the &quotRelatively Plausible Curator Skeleton&quot Home Comfort with the human torso.

Recipe:
1 x Human Ribcage
1 x Horned Skull
2 x Withered Tentacle
2 x Crustacean Pincer
1 x Add four more joints
2 x Unprovenanced Thigh Bone
2 x Albatross Wing

Then don’t throw words like &quotuseless&quot carelessly around, especially at places where people do things on a voluntary basis, like wiki-editing. That said, I won’t waste effort at maintaining politeness or courtesy towards those that I don’t believe deserves it.

Maintaining politeness and courtesy is actually mandated by the forum rules. If you’re going to post here, you must be polite and courteous.

Crustacean Pincers doesn’t seem to add any value at all now. Can someone check whether it is so or it’s just something wrong on my side.

Has anyone found a good use for a fish skeleton yet?
Also, can you put fins in place of regular limbs (so you could make a fish skeleton out of a human ribcage)?

Naw. I thought that there would be some new Home Comfort item, but naw.

No. The Torso Style requirement prevents the use of Human Ribcages.

In theory, this allows you to make a credible non-Chimera skeleton with an unbounded number of limbs. There’s no upper limit on the number of acceptable Fins. In practice, that’s not actually useful because Fins add nothing of value. It also lets you build a credible skeleton from the Leviathan Frame, but any uses of that could also be accomplished with Unidentified Thighbones and declaring it Reptile.

If another Fin-type bone comes around, it might have value.

Credible skeleton on Leviathan frame is a Curator. And it sells better than fish.

Actually, I wanted to ask: what’s the base use for a Leviathan frame? I’ve made quite an effort to get it, wouldn’t want to just waste it. I have my stats on a max level, except for Shapeling (only 3)

Making a Curator Home Comfort is really good use. Although, one-time, unless we’ll get an option to dispose of these things.

Sorry, but what’s the particular benefit of using a high-value ribcage for a Home Comfort? It won’t affect the stats, will it?

I believe Aro Saren is referring to the fact that previously the leviathan frame was the only torso you could create a curator skeleton from, due to the other torsos being unable to reach an even six limbs. You can currently achieve a curator skeleton by increasing the amount of joints on a human ribcage, filling up two of the slots with withered tentacles, and then affixing the required wings, arm, and legs. As such, the Leviathan frame is best used for any resource you want an extremely large quantity of. I doubt you could get much of a menace/antiquity/amalgamy quality multiplier off of it without some serious shapeling arts application, so just take a look around at which of the base payouts you might want the most of and build towards that buyer.

So, that would basically be menace to get Scrip and pies or Antiquity to get steel and artifacts?

So, that would basically be menace to get Scrip and pies or Antiquity to get steel and artifacts?

Basically, whichever is currently more valuable for you. Scrip is always a good option, because you’re probably going to need a lot of it for the present and future railway stations and if you really want to you can convert it to Echoes fairly easily, but a lot of players find the steel grind to be somewhat frustrating, so if you count yourself as among those players that would also be a nice option. With more railway stations coming in the future, it’s a good idea to get a decent amount of both.

The thing is, the easiest way to get the Leviathan Frame is to have a ready skeleton with that much value already… …at which point you might as well directly sell it for scrip or steel.

I guess the frame makes sense as a way to save up for scrip or steel if you’re getting it not by trading an expensive skeleton, but by saving up paleontological discoveries?

Can you save paleontological discoveries? I thought the quality was reset when you left the “sorting through discoveries” area.

They added the option to save them sometime last week. It’s a separate option than the leaving one.
