[Use this to increase your Renown: Bohemians quality by spending Favours: Bohemians . >>(You can also gain Favours: Bohemians with Fate by using the typewriter.])<<

i thought (well i was misinformed) it was possible to get favours without spending any fate, can someone confirm this to me? or besides buying the item, i have to spend fate as well to get favours. Thanks

You can get Favours from various cards, such as the Bohemians card, the Hungover Terrier’s card (if you have one), and A Visit (choosing the Sardonic Music-Hall Singer). The Fate option lets people spend Fate to get Favours without drawing cards; it’s not at all worth it.

Indeed, the Fate option is an extra way to gain favours, not the only way. Unless you are incredibly impatient and have more money than sense, it is probably an option you will never use.

If your character is new, make sure you make the most of the options at the carnival to gain five Favours and five Renown that are available there before you start messing around with typewriters.

If you click here, you can see that there are a plethora of ways to gain favours for all factions, including Bohemians. The faction items available at the Bazaar are mostly used to increase renown via consuming favours and increasing certain quirks up to 15 via consuming the item. Buying favours with fate is a waste of money.

There is one card for each faction, and you can get a favor with said faction through it (They usually cost one item you need to buy, like the urchins wanting a weasel that’s 40 cents, or multiple of cheaper items, like bohemians wanting 15 candle and 10 bottles of wine, or some such. Some can cost nothing, but increase a menace.)

While those specific faction cards are the main method of gaining favors, as you play, you’ll get access to specific cards (methods that gain you favors are almost always cards.) That give you favors with one group or another.

A great example is the “a commission from anarchists” card. Once you have 5 renown with anarchists, they occasionally approach you with a commission. If you inform the constables of them, you gain a favor with the constables. You lose all your favors with anarchists, but if you don’t have any with them, is that a problem?
