NEW CONTENT: the Fruits of the Zee festival!

I finally, FINALLY, got the Mutersalt. I have enjoyed the festival, but that was a serious pain. Now that I have butchered my quirks, does anyone know a good way to rebuild them? I am particularly perturbed over the severe reduction of so many of these qualities.
Now that I have butchered my quirks, does anyone know a good way to rebuild them?
Depends on which levels and quirks you’re aiming for. I play the faction conflict cards, and those are good for getting quirks back to level 6 (eventually). Then there’s Playing the Game at Wilmot’s End to build Subtle or Forceful up to 9, but that takes 11 Actions for only 2 CPs. Some dreams have also been good for level 9 quirks, but I don’t get those dreams any longer.

You can always build up Magnanimous through Nurse a friend back to health.

that’s definitely what I’ll do after this Feast is over.

I went back to London for 10 or 20 actions, came to the island again, and I still have my Strange Catch :)

Must be something in the waters that serves as a preservative…

The normal Mutton Island options can be useful for stat raising, if you take the shadowy An Island with Secrets option for the first part of the carousel it doesn’t raise suspicion. Then take the persuasive or watchful options on the second half (you will get menaces on a fail for those) but if you choose the feast option at the end you raise all four stats slightly and get wound and nightmare reduction.

Ohh, now this is a nice option, thank you!!

I had just assumed there would be something to lose if one got caught on such a challenge. But apparently not!

And that fills out Shadowy a little, which the other things I’ve tried have not really helped as often.

Official confirmation that sacrificing Strange Catch 10 to the well does not reward you with St. Mutton’s candle. At least not on the first try, anyway.

Dammit - I just manage to get a 10 Pickings in the cove and was going to report that there are no special options and I see Shadowhand’s post.

Yeah, since getting 11 points would require insane levels of luck, I can confirm that there’s no benefit to getting pickings above 8, and the best weapon only requires 7.

Oh - and in my dispair, I didn’t read Shadowhand’s post properly. He’s reporting something completely different. So, yeah. 10 pickings in the cove = same options as 8 pickings in the cove (unless there’s ANOTHER luck roll that needs to be checked, but that would just be evil).

It was definitely worth checking, however. I’ve got a 10 catch to cash in too (probably to the well).

Someone here mentioned getting Cove 9, however…which means that it’s possible to get higher than 8 (although no special option was unlocked at 9). There’s definitely a separate luck roll with your Cove number; it may equal, but never exceed, your catch number, which makes me suspect it’s still possible to reach 10.

Yeah, I have reached 10. And there’s nothing to show for it. Your rewards are the same as if you had 8 pickings (i.e. all of 10 echoes worth of junk (well, I can use the labour, but there are ways of getting it with better return than sub 1 epa)).

Ah, I mis-read your earlier post.

Well, nothing more to see, I guess.

If you haven’t been banished from court, you can raise Austere easily while composing symphonies (may require connected Church, but that’s never been a problem for me).

Aaaagh. One weapon still eludes me - the Bloodstained Eolith.

I keep trying handing over Catches of value 6 and 7 but I keep missing the magic Wrecker’s Cove value of 5 by 1 each time.

What do I have to do to appease the RNG? :)

Offer up some proper beer to the well, perhaps?

I find myself mildly frustrated by the event. I’ve read comments on how to increase the stats used in fishing, such as going to the Iron Republic for Fate, but I suppose I can’t figure out how people are getting such high numbers when fishing. People are getting Catches higher then 10? Entering the cave with at least 7 points for loot? How can I increase my success at this? I still have a Compass and a furry weapon to go, and time is running away, laughing.

As far as I can tell, the trick seems to be A: trading smaller Strange Catches in for Partial Maps, and B: throwing medium-sized Stray Catches back to get bigger ones with the use of said Partial Maps and similar items. But I admit I’m probably missing the fine details!

I can get 7-8 on a typical run if I use all the item options that I manage to get. 10 required me to toss back a 7 to get 4, plus a bit of luck in the frequency of the Partial Map option.

You can get every reward without having to toss back catches, but throwing back your catch can make it easier.

Short form of my process when trying to get a high catch: do a quirk-only run, result doesn’t matter as long as I get at least one catch. Turn that result into the chef or the curate in return for various items. It’s the partial maps that you want the most.

Go back out and offer up items at every opportunity. It’s the partial maps that give the best boosts, but the zee-stories aren’t bad either.

If you’re desperate, throw back a mediocre catch, but it’s really inefficient and it caps at 7 - the best you can carry over is 4 RB.

This is great info! Thank you. After several attempts generally turning out RB 6, I was starting to wonder just how to get the higher level items. I did also scrape up to RB 7 once or twice during those runs, but apparently the dice did not favor me at the Cove when I did.

As it turned out, I lucked into my goal because I fried up one catch in order to reduce nightmares. And the next time out fishing, I spent a map and landed RB 7. Apparently that is sometimes good enough for my purpose: I am now the proud mistress of an armored guinea pig :)

It’s a great explanation, nevertheless!

After much fishing I managed to achieve a catch with pedipalps! And my Wounds and Nightmares were each 3 or lower, so I thought I’d have no trouble getting an interesting reward.

My wounds are now dangerously close to 8 and my nightmares are nearly 9 (I have -2 from equipment - I’m not making that mistake again). I haven’t seen the Lady for dozens of actions, and even if I were tempted to ask the Curate or the Chef for help, neither of them are making an appearance either. It’s all Drownies, revellers and invisible rats up in here.

Is this normal or does the RNG really have it in for me this week? Please tell me I’m not the only one.
