Mr Eaten Content

Thanks.
Now that I see this, I have to wonder…does Alexis hate us? Because really, those all seem a little bit absurd. On that note though, if I were him, I would make it so that ONLY the Starveling Cat gives the candle, just to troll everyone.

Thanks.

I doubt it. That’s the easiest and most obvious option to check.

Seven Fluke-Cores is also slightly cheaper than one Overgoat so who knows!

Is it even possible to get more than one fluke core?

Now it is.

[quote=fortluna]That card is available again - I was just about to come here to ask why I drew that card with one fluke core.

(if only I’d known – would have loaded up on Diaries of the dead)

Apparently it is now. I can’t personally check for 5 more days.

I just checked the Nadir. It is definitely possible to get multiple fluke cores, although it would take a very long time to get seven.

It will also very probably take a very long time to get to SMEN 26 or 28 or whatever the requirement is for St. Cerise’s Candle, so it checks out.

Or, you know, three days to hit 26 or 28… It all comes down to how much you’re willing to sacrifice.

Yeah but you’ve got Cerise’s Candle already, it doesn’t count.

It seems to be SMEN 27 for St Cerise if what I’m seeing on The Seeking Road can be trusted.

I just had an idea of how to make serious money using The Seeking Road. Couldn’t you sell your Enigmas, use the proceeds to get Appalling Secrets, use the Seeking Road to turn secrets into Enigmas ,and repeat? It’s luck based, so it could fail miserably, but it’s certainly a possibility;you’d have to fail 5 times to not make a profit. If you were doing this, you should first make sure you have no Enigmas, since that would DESTROY the chance of making a profit, and after that, the only barrier between you and some profit is luck…Maybe this isn’t such a good idea.

edit Wait, the cost for doing this is higher. If you buy enough clues for just 70 Appaling Secrets, it’s 20 Echoes. For 770, it would be 220 echoes, and with it you could make a maximum of 10 Enigmas for 625, but it’s most likely you’d end up getting 2 or 3 Enigmas…
Further Edit Alright, so this COULD work, especially if you get the last 7 secrets needed somewhere else, like the Nocturnal Visitor to the Palace card.
So basically, if you sold one Enigma, you’d get 62.5 echoes. If you spent 20 for Cryptic Clues to make Appalling Secrets, and got 7 more secrets somehow, you could then attempt to get another Enigma. Doing this, assuming you got 7 more secrets somewhere else, you’d have to lose 3 times to not make a profit off of your 1 enigma. I think that this could work now, but it will be a complex grind.

So has anyone lit St. Cerise’s candle yet? I’m sure it’s a good idea, I just want someone else to try it first.

I wanted to get Nitebrites opinion on it first, coz it’s literally the only candle he owns and he has plenty of goats to gut. If it comes down to it then I’ll gladly throw myself into the unmercy of the candle, though.

phoneposting is a hazardous activity

It’d be kinda funny if it just gives you one level of SMEN like the various other options. I’m sure it’d consume the Dreadful Surmise, though, so even if so it’s not something you could simply work towards in the higher levels of SMEN.

Hm. It appears that the most delicious, desirable of all citizens is having some fun.
Or perhaps I do not know what fun is any more.
But it remains…[quote]

Dear Lord, what is going on here?

So that’s some backwards ranting about burning and North.
But did it give a different candle? What exactly happened?

Burning the candle consumes the candle and Surmise, giving Veils-Velvet, an Impossible Theorem, and Master’s Blood. Those can be burned for SMEN +2, with seemingly a 50% chance of consuming them and giving a Dreadful Surmise. So apparently if it comes to it you can burn a goat for two more levels of SMEN?

The text for burning St Cerise’s is the exact reverse of the text for lighting the taper which consumes the three items and gives a Surmise.
