Mr Eaten Content

…I just got “Flirting with Disaster x Seeking Mr Eaten’s Name”…

Which mean’s I’m Seeking the Name… oh god no…

I’m seeking the name! Y’know, I joined just before smen got retired, and I’ve been waiting for this ever since. Time to destroy my lovely, wealthy, stat-capped character.

Does anyone know if any of the cards increase SMEN? I currently have almost 100 sudden insights, and would like to actually seek the name sometime this week.

I just got an account here for SMEN content discussion. What a great day!

After the change to UP, it can still be increased at the Duchess’ salon up to level 10. That seems to be the current cap.

Something new turns up at SMEN 10, so maybe getting all the way to 28 isn’t actually that hellish. It’s Impossible at the moment, though.

I guess I need to get rid of all my sudden insights to use the Seeking Road. Does anyone know if there is another way to increase SMEN yet.

There are no GOOD ways. That would be… counterproductive.

So, it looks like the structure of raising Seeking is:
- You can raise it in your lodgings on the Seeking Road card, which options cause significant damage to your person

 • When you have no Marsh-Mired, you can raise it on various opportunity cards for somewhat less damage to your person; but using one of these options gives you Marsh-Mired
 • Time, the Healer removes Marsh-Mired once a week, meaning you can use one of these opp cards per week. Once you have Marsh-Mired, the options left on the (non-discardable) cards just damage you and reduce your Unaccountably Peckish.
Does that sound about right? It’s been a long time since I’ve been so eager for Time to come… (Time just came last night, I gotta wait a week.)

I have SMEN 1, where do I go to begin the story, and how dead should I expect to be when I start it?

I think that’s the basics of it, though there’s a bit more going on;
you can get the Alphabet of Scars card (the old “Banner with a Strange Device”) to get, like, 2 SMEN.
A Dream of Dark Water starts showing up at SMEN 7 if you have no Weeping Scars, so there’s probably something else up with that as well.
At SMEN 10 you’ll be able to spend a rather astonishing amount of stuff in one go for… something? It’s locked, so I can’t tell.
There’s a locked option which needs St Cerise’s Candle and SMEN 28.
You can apparently get St. Destin’s on the Amanuensis card, but no word on any of the others.
Dumping 77 Iron Knife Tokens down a well is still something you can do, but I have no idea where the hell you’re gonna get those nowadays.

There are a lot of opportunity cards that show up when you’re Unaccountably Peckish (like &quotSIX OF PEARLS&quot &quotSEVEN OF WORDS&quot etc. depending on how much UP you have).

Yes, raising UP in preparation was a very unwise idea, I am finding!

Wax?

So the wonderful text in TWO OF BATS says, when eating the paper, that the wax is just the right amount of delicious. FIVE OF LIGHTS talks about eating all that wax. Familiar, right?
So, at the risk of sounding cliche: are we becoming/are snuffers? Does the Mr. himself is the legendary stealer of faces? Why does Eaten tweets about the mountain and Skite all of a sudden? Does the Skite people who cannot heal are snuffers? Does a reckoning really means the return to the Lost Garden which they were banished, and not avenging the Bazaar?

I know Eaten was never about THAT, but this is the new revised SMEN

This is helpful, thank you! Everyone, take note.

I just gave up Seeking the Name (again) and received 1 x Weeping Scar as a result.

EDIT: Bug fixed.

Just gave up seeking the name.

And I have begun Seeking. It looks like, for those of us unwilling to spam Blacken Your Mind Like Paper, raising SMEN will be slow?

My alt had only started SMEN when the hiatus was imposed. There was a widget &quotA Bad End&quot placed in her inventory, with a lot of &quotImpossible&quot storylets in it. This morning, I saw that it had been replaced by the following graphic:

https://picasaweb.google.com/103483555539158593557/6293847364776769809#6293847369910878898

I chose the second storylet (&quot…don’t turn back yet&quot) and found a new black-bordered storylet at My Lodgings, called &quotThe Seeking Road&quot, which included a number of chooseable choices for progressing on that Road. So SMEN must be re-starting…

I’m trying to drop my last point of UP, but ACE OF HUNGERS won’t drop it below 1. Anybody come across a way to clear the last point yet?
