In Search of A Paramount Presence

Yes. One could imagine that for Paramount Presence you would need to achieve the highest distinction in each of the three Orders. That would be a lot of stabbing. And also it’s not possible to be a member of more than one Order at once.

Does getting married at St. Fiacre while already having 14/15 Notability push you over the maximum to 16 or some such? It might be a way to achieve Paramount Presence given the Bazaar’s penchant for ~Very Important People In Love~.

Or maybe it was just unfortunately phrased and &quotvarious stages of Paramount Presence&quot just mean the specializations themselves.

For reference’s sake, another word for North (not boreal) is Septentrion. Alexis’ post references this, the Heptagoat ( 7 again) and Paramount Presence.

My going theory is that the re-implementation of SMEN will eventually open up the required storylet to unlock Paramount Presence

That seems completely contrary to the point of SMEN though.

Most certainly that does seem out of place with anything in general first, though. :)

Have we determined that it’s not needing to get enough Making Waves to reach Notability 16 and summoning/visiting the Amaneuensis?

…potentially, would a Paramount Presence be about raising your connections to a ridiculous amount? since all the stat specializations seem to be taken.

I’m pretty sure that that’s impossible. i could be mistaken, but i think the notability is capped at 15, at least by normal means. if there’s a secret way to go higher, i’m pretty sure it’s not amaneuensis.

A hard disk crash forced me to abandon FL long enough to have Time bump my Notability back down to 14. :( So if Notability is a part of it, I’m off the hunt for a while.

Try and see if this can push you to 16 Notability?

Yes, I’m just wondering if it requires having Notability 15 and enough Making Waves to qualify for a theoretical Notability 16.

Getting married at St. Fiacre doesn’t increase your Notability above 15, NiteBrite tried this a while back.

Notability 15 is a hardcap it seems.

It’s possible that the one other means of getting Notability isn’t capped, but that’s only available at certain times of the year. I also think it’s highly unlikely that that option isn’t capped

Someone remembered this silly thing I did :D

I suspected Notability to be hard capped at 15, but I wanted to be super sure. So when player marriage was first released, I spent roughly an overgoats worth of materials on a permanent player marriage at the most expensive party possible while at N15 just to test the cap. I gave up a rubbery spouse for this, and the +2 notability the wedding should give as well was lost. My BDR will forever be slightly suboptimal, but it was totally worth it in exchange for this knowledge and proof beyond a shadow of a doubt that the cap is a cap proper. Thanks for the mention Cecil.

Did anyone check if gaining two notability when you’re at notability 14 would let you get to 16 because the storylet caps at ‘higher than 14’?

Or was the message something else.

No it was definitely the hard cap message.

The &quotthis quality currently cannot go higher than 15&quot message?

Looks like I just saved a lot of rats.

Sorry if this is an old hat, but that idea does seem quite logical to me. HAS anyone actually tried it? Maybe the necessary storylet only becomes visible when you have everything required?

I don’t think so…someone not lazy with a decent alt (i.e. not me) would probably be the most likely contender.

I guess I’ll try it myself when I get there… long way to go though, I’m in my 90s right now.

I’m stat-capped with no specialism and can easily buy the two items I don’t currently own. To date, I’ve avoided increasing my Notability past 9 as (a) it’s expensive/time-consuming; and (b) given that I didn’t want a specialism there was no point. Happy to give it a go in the interests of knowledge-gathering though. I shall report back in due course.
