how do i get a fabulous diamond?

All good. Thanks to Cecil, without whom I wouldn’t have taken the screenshots. ^_^

Other than being fabulous and valuable, does the diamond serve any purpose? Any confirmed to be true purpose? :p

Any confirmed-to-be-true purpose? None that I’ve found, yet.
Technically, you could break them back down into Magnificent Diamonds, but it works out to roughly 8 Fate cost per Magnificent Diamond gained (if you’ve used Magnificent Diamonds to create the Fabulous Diamond in the first place) but doesn’t really seem to me like it would be a worthwhile choice.

As soon as I’ll be able to get some Fate, I’ll go for the Soul Trade and start the grind while doing something else.
More than 5 years later:

20 something sold souls, played the Fate story twice and found a small issue with it, tricked a smuggler two or three times.
But the biggest boost was this weekend’s Rat market where I sold some Night Whispers to get the last 23 diamonds!

I did it! 50 fabulous diamonds!

Whispered Hints - The Crystal Lodgings
I remember back, way back when I was just starting out in Fallen London and I didn’t know much about the game there was an old rumor about a near impossible goal. Twenty-five magnificent diamonds get you a Fabulous diamond, but what do you imagine 50 fabulous diamonds would create? The speculation back then was that a player who achieved this ludicrous goal would not get an even bigger diamond; no, something far better awaited them. We used to tell tales of the crystal lodgings, an expanded hand lodgings carved out of a stone the size of a small house.
And there’s no crystal lodging. :)

I don’t know why you want a fabulous diamond, or what’s with the sevens. Or 22, but 22/7 is a decent approximation to pi, which makes 22 July a good pi(e) day for those who write dates in UK style (non-US that is.I’m not sure if M/D/Y is used anywhere else in the world?)_

ANYWAY I just wanted to say this thread amused me with its antiquity. The old interface.

A leading early writer of FL had a &quotthing&quot about sevens, so they recur a lot in early material.

You say that like the Clerk of Sevens wasn’t a thing in Sunless Skies.

And would you say Sunless Skies has been around longer than Fallen London, or not quite as long?
