I think Mr. Card can only appear in the Christmas stories of some people. After all, he is just Schrodinger’s Mr. Card. However, if Mr. Card in London can bring unexpected fate options to my character, then things are interesting.
Out of the marvelous impact this event may have on Christmas in London, I am happy to be a member of the master.
Of course, perhaps Christmas can interact with the dream, and those who are not HD participants and those who choose other endings can visit Mr. Card in their dreams.
In fact, every Ambitions has a huge and irreversible impact on the world, but so far, no one can compare with Heart’s Desire. edited by chiche on 5/7/2020
Will there be a new master at Christmas now? Or with how many of these ambitions have unfolded, will there fewer Masters? edited by Winthropx on 5/7/2020
The Christmas Masters are their Nomen, so all the need is blood, and it’s implied that they have plenty on hand already. Otherwise we wouldn’t see a Mirror’s Sacks. Or be able to buy some.
And the Sacks of Mr. Cards is probably a part of the Master’s responsibilities once it fully becomes a Curator, so isn’t going to be a thing for quite some time (at least, not during the Twelve Days, unless it acquires an enormous amount of Tears).
Do we actually know why there’s that whole thing with Masters’ creating Nomen and having them masquerade as Mr. Sacks?

Don’t forget Silas the Showman, maybe we can have another equally good actor! (Well, this is just some delusions that are too excited, lol)
Time as well as Adoration have interesting implications for Sunless Skies. And of course no wish-fulfilment includes cider, because that would remove FL’s second biggest grind.
Also of course Aestival is not an option, that’s already someone’s home and ambition:)!
Maybe the Monkey, if he survived? I don’t think that any of the other players would want to work in your lab.
Maybe Virginia will, after her term as Mayor ends? edited by Rostygold on 5/7/2020
Also, I am still waiting for that damn Relicker card. Grud-dammit, why do I have to wait for this? There was that storylet for getting the One-Time Location for a Prince of Hell, but not for the Intriguer’s Compendium?
For anyone waiting for that card, you might want to sit at the Labyrinth of Tigers. That location has no location-specific card, so that should trim your draw deck a bit. edited by Rostygold on 5/7/2020
Dammit, and only one of the outcomes is on the wiki. Do none of them even know about the wiki?
It’s less "We don’t know about the wiki" and more "It takes a small group of people time and effort to catalogue every option then to add it to the wiki and make sure it’s all right." HD finale came out two days ago man.

Thus far all special assistants were people who were a constant though the story and didn’t have a choice concerning them dying or becoming otherwise unaccessible, like potentially Dr. Vaughann.
I was thinking Mr. Pages actually, or at least some form of correspondence with it. It’s clearly into our character: it can share its Heart’s Desire, it immidiately takes the Monkey’s Chance to physically own us (and as we know from Sunless Skies, the closest thing to love for a Curator is treating you as a valuable item in its possession), it shares a honey dream with us.

Do you have Sky Stories? Two of them and a cheap companion make one for two actions.
Actually, the assistant from Light Fingers ended up being Hephaesta, which was rather a surprise considering she was MIA for… two and a half chapters? Dr Vaughan was a reasonable expectation, but one choice towards the end of the story (that doesn’t seem to have any in-game effects) may preclude it.
If Heart’s Desire ends up not having a lab assistant, I might just consider that as balance against the other amazing rewards y’all got. Only one of my Light Fingers rewards gives points in any of the new qualities.

That’s what I meant. Dr. Vaughann is a much more fitting person to be a lab assistant, but she may leave London for the roof, so Hephaesta is the one to participate in research.
Speaking of new qualities, whenever we get the ability to raise the Artisan of the Red Science and its Studies, a Correspondent Mr. Cards with the hat from Mr. Pages will be able to get 10, making the research skill check automatic success, and the research gain appears to be 4 X Artisan, so 40 research per action. If we ever get another boosting item in another slot (unlikely as it is), this would make compiling Mirthless Compendia more profitable than feeding Urchins to tigers or the Tomb of Silken Thread with only Strong-Backed Labour, at 2,5 EPA (2 actions to start and finish the research, 3 for 132 point of research). And without having to spend an eternity in Arbor.
Now if only I had even a single skull after three expeditions and many actions seeking curios and secrets. I feel like I had better luck when collecting them for the Nadir.
If any are still curious, here are the choices from the final round. The results are almost exactly the same.
For one of the options, you can choose to bet a single penny; should you have no money…well the writers thought of that as well. I would have liked to try that option if I knew about it earlier.
I’m actually wondering if upcoming content is going to give out more of these qualities. I hope that the Ambition items remain uniquely powerful, but perhaps not quite as unique as they currently are.
Raising the stat-caps would imply higher Renown values become accessible… food for thought.
Refusing the Chance (I don’t have a description of it, but it upgrades the monkey into a Condemned Cardsharp Monkey that I think also gives a Player of Chess.
The Monkey bows its head, defeated, as the Masters begin a courteous round of applause. One by one, they drop down around you, landing nimbly on their feet. Each of them looms over you to extend a word of two of congratulation.
Mr Hearts pushes to the front. "Profound congratulations," it intones, "A most entertaining contest. You comported yourself with verve and ingenuity. A game, I think, that we shall be talking about for many years. For now, return to your lodgings. Rest. Enjoy your success."
Beechwood has drawn away. You can see him wringing his paws together, compulsively. His eyes are haunted. He knows that – in a few years’ time, when the false-stars align – he must play the Marvellous again.
Hearts escorts you back to the coracle, and along the capillary-canal to the Ormolu Door. "We will send for you shortly," it says, "to arrange your prize." It does not acknowledge the Monkey, who follows you home once more. Almost as though nothing has changed, though you both know that everything already has.
Still waiting for that damn Relicker card. I have the cards for his colleagues and stewing on the deck so that if I ever draw another "Very Infrequent" card, I hope it’s the one I want.
This is not how I hoped Intriguer’s Compendium would be used for.
UPDATE: I got it - but now I need a Ray-Drenched Cinder. Sigh. edited by Rostygold on 5/8/2020
