occupied over the weekend. apologies for any confessions i might have missed.
Just to clarify, when I say “have the spirit wasted” I am not referring to the spirit you might get next year. I realise that might be useful. I am referring to the excess spirit this year. Suppose I have 568 Spirit. Regardless of whether 500 is the highest reward or not this year, that 68 Spirit is of no use. So the question arises what to do with 18 Confessions that would generate those 68 Spirit.
Sure, I could bury them but the utility I get out of these 18 confessions is still less than what I’d get out of all the previous confessions. Hence my question. Burying them might in the end be the right answer but I am just checking whether I am missing any other considerations.

bury 36. then you have 500 spirit exactly. This is assuming you value the spirit, and prefer the rewards for burying them, of course. you can also just hold onto them, though that’s not what I’d do personally, it might be valid, and will be beneificial in the third year, as well as being neutral this year and marginally harmful next.
Brand new player here - how long do we have to "cash in" the visitor card? I like squids and I’d really like to get the squid visitor, but it looks like I’ll need to keep loading cards until I have a second visitor card I can use to get a fish. :(
Not sure of what the answer to that is, but you better buy the fish if you have a card, another won’t seed until you use the first one up. Don’t worry, they come quite frequently.

Thank you! Got the fish, then. :) Now I just need to earn one more making waves, didn’t realize it’d eat a rank.
Coffee with an acquaintance and you’re golden.
By the way, those fish may be valuable later, so you might want to buy some to keep. And if you see any of the Visitors after you get your Destiny, you’ll be given the opportunity to change that Destiny, but it costs fate to do so.

Thank you for the tips! :) I don’t have any acquaintances yet, but I found a list of players on reddit up for being sent stuff, knock on wood. Or if anyone reading this thread would have pity on a newbie and please help me out, that would be great also. :)
I even got another card already, phew. Guess I won’t need the 10 fate I bought, but I don’t mind supporting the game a little and I can always sit on this fate until I do need it.
Refer to the thread in the Bazaar about the Young Turks Club. There are several links there you might profit from.

Thank you some more!
I actually realized I could gamble with that 10 fate by buying 20 turns (got two rolls of the horse head on night air) so I have my Memory destiny now, which fortunately means I can browse all this other newbie stuff without the anxiety of an unknown deadline over my head. :) Joining games during the holidays is so stressful, lol.
I’d advise not to buy more actions with fate, unless you have plenty to burn. There are plenty of nicer uses for it, such as the Blemmigan story (which requires a bit more than 10 fate).Be patient at the beginning. Fallen London is so big, there’s so much to explore. Take your time and enjoy the ride. I’d get on with the holiday theme stuff first and do the rest a bit later. Or if you’re feeling generous, buy yourself exceptional friendship, which will get you another candleful of actions. Have fun!

Right, what’s more important to manage first, this inbox full of invitations, or this pile of confessions that need to be converted into spirit?
Probably the invitations, as they give you some spirit and will allow others to start converting the confessions to spirit themselves.
nods we got expected exeration based on pervious years timetables?
It’s too late now, but I worked out a way to accept invitations in 2.5 actions each. This is what I’ll be doing next year:
- Grind up my ‘tales of mahogany hall’ as high as I can[/li][li]Send through poisoning requests from an alt / arrange an exchange with a friend
For Wednesday’s performance at mahogany hall, the unaccountably peckish can take to the stage with a strange hunger in their belly. +2CP nightmares, +2CP scandal, +2CP suspicion. If you quaff some poison and manipulate your menaces using gear first, this is enough for both a confession of pride and a confession of whimsy.
So we have:
- 2 actions at mahogany hall[/li][li]1 action to accept poison[/li][li]1 action to confess pride[/li][li]1 action to confess whimsy
I’ve done this about ten times, but my tales of mahogany hall has finally dipped too low :(
Yeah turns aren’t normally a thing I’d buy, but I came into this holiday at the last minute and completely unprepared and unable to figure out when it ended, and I just wanted to be sure I got that squid before they all went away at some random moment. :3 Now I’m back to bumbling around trying different stuff and not stressing about anything, which is definitely a more fun way to experience the game.
I actually wandered over here from Sunless Sea, which was on sale the other day. I love that I can poke around this neato setting even if I’m not in the mood to play ship simulator every day. :D
Looks like I’ll be getting about 300-400 Spirit depending on how many confession acceptances I get. So, I won’t be upgrading my Huffamhype, but at least I won’t be downgrading it either.
I’ve hit 101 Confessions! On top of the 128 Spirit I already have I should be hitting 500 Spirit. Considering that I only started out with around 40 from devouring last year’s Confessions I’m feeling fairly accomplished.
My main should end up with about 230 Spirit after I cash in all of my Confessions quality … not bad considering I was too preoccupied to seek Confessions much.

I have 316 Spirit currently, with 50 confession requests pending and 50 I’ve received (which I’m slowly but surely working my way through). It might be close…
