A damp fog fills London’s streets. Londoners of all stripes lurk in its concealment: masked, cloaked, triply hidden. It is the season of Hallowmas, of the commission and purging of sin. Londoners seek out the Attendants – the masked representatives of the Bazaar – to be shriven.
The end of October is upon us, and with it, another Hallowmas comes to Fallen London. Hallowmas is a free revel, open to all Londoners. This year, Hallowmas will run from today, the 20th October, until the 4th of November. After the festival closes on the 4th, you’ll be able to turn in confessions and claim rewards until the 11th.
As part of the season, you may:
Wear a fashionable mask to secretive balls around London;
Purposefully raise your Menaces and exchange them for Spirit of Hallowmas;
Later, redeem your Spirit of Hallowmas for seasonal rewards;
Collect a number of Confessions from London’s sinners, and trade them with your friends;
Use these Confessions to transform and upgrade your Companions.
And! Obtain or change your Destiny; a glimpse of a possible future for your character in London.

I was wondering if it was a problem on my end. Basically not playable for me at the moment so I’ll check back later today to have a look at the festivities.
This is a result of the ongoing AWS issues; before we launched Hallowmas it looked like they were resolved, but Events have revealed this to Not Quite Be the case. I’m afraid there’s nothing we can do at the time of posting. Very atypically, AWS are preventing us from adding more servers to deal with festival demand, but rest assured that we will as soon as we’re able to!
Yes, many sites and games affected by the Amazon AWS outage. And I thought something happened at the FBG servers because of the event, or something wrong with the connection on my side.
Personally I would wait till the second week to trade confessions. You might already got what you need with the second set of confessions. Or you don’t need to trade as you got what you need while attending the masques and doing conversions there.
Or maybe it’s just me, I need an entire week to decide what companions to collect.
Main character: Already finished the four types of masques in previous years, may grind a bit to raise Knight of Hallowmas vanity value.

By the way, if you got the rewards from Estival 2025, one item greatly increases your nightmares = great for the Moth masque this Hallowmas.
Two juicy items are fate locked behind FotR stuff. So what is left… PoC crew, SA affiliation are must have. 2 agents maybe, but I doubt their usefulness. 10/14 confessions. Not even sure what to do with the rest. I already have SA and KT in transport slot.
Psychologically, people might feel satisfaction that they have items to dress up 2 (3 for subscribers) new dolls and hit 100% on plot checks. But if we squint at the mechanics and the math, it’s all almost an illusion. Agents provide 0.1–0.15 EpA; one item gives +10% to success rate in good cases; so we are literally talking about a penny per action. If you spend only 4 actions to acquire that transport and use it only for agents, you have to run plots using it for around a month to get your investment back. I mean, it’s a clever substitute for character power growth, but how long will people buy it…
I saw that announcement from Failbetter and can’t for the life of me find where to change your profile cameo. It doesn’t seem to be under “Attend to Matters of Identity” - am I looking in the wrong place?
AH! Thanks! I kept looking in the activity list I mentioned above, plus my profile page. I never thought to look for a button on the Myself tab, but it makes sense now.
Apologies for the disruption during yesterday’s Amazon Web Services outage. Things are back up and running now, but to make up for it you can now claim some Darkdrop Coffee in game (look for ‘A Wonderful Scent’). We are also going to extend the final week of Hallowmas by 24 hours, so that the festival will now end on Tuesday 4th November, at 12:00 UTC, with the catch up period ending on Tuesday November 11th.
