Have we now gotten all the free confessions we are going to? Or is the second batch spread over a couple days?
All 14 free confessions are currently available.
Do you really think that grinding Suspicion in Balmoral is more effective than taking part in the Masques? I mean, the failure options in Balmoral give just +3 Suspicion each and nothing else, and at that you need to fail, while the Masque options both give +7 Suspicion; if you take into account the low-end option occuring 1/3 times, you get to 5 CP of suspicion/action. It seems to me that if you have the needed items, using this route is actually slightly faster. Or am I missing something?
I presume you use the successes to build Cover Identity Elaboration and transform it into the 2.5 Echo items every once in a while, so you make some profit, but every success actually decreases the Suspicion gains over a large number of actions.
Just out of curiosity, what amount of Spirit of Hallowmas would the rest of you gentlepeople consider to be "doing well"?
And a word of warning for all of you who play around with menace-modifying gear:
Due to a very silly misclick on my outfits, I just had a quite unreasonable and rather unpleasant encounter with some narrow-minded lawmen and the resulting unwarranted sting in the New Newgate set me back in more than one way (stupid Wickers and his bloody criminal record!)
A rather blatant miscarriage of justice, really. One would hope that some safety net would be in place for Hallowmas, since we are expected to walk on a razor’s edge like this.
To be honest I’m not sure how I compare to folks like Tsar Koschei who seem to be way more familiar with gaming Hallowmas, and I fully admit part of my current solution’s appeal is the panic I get about losing actions from earning items from elsewhere before being able to grind out more Suspicion. I will admit, I was completely floundering for a crucial 3-4 days when the event started between scrambling to upgrade new companions, doing an Exceptional Story and actually forgetting how the Fool cycle worked briefly. Then I found the resource-free solution of being objectively terrible at disguises in Balmoral and well-I’ve racked up 624 Spirit to date.
I might not even be a good indicator going forward, because I may pay Fate to force my way into earning enough Spirit. It’s Halloween after all, I feel like spoiling myself.
Oh my. I can marry a whole throng of paramours and lovers now?

Man, I wish I could bring Janeway to Sunless Skies. She’d totally get involved with the Liberation and try to build a train capable of ramming a Judgement to death.
I accidentally hit the report button! I’m sorry!

The Talkative Rattus Faber is highly displeased to learn about the Sausage. Excellent.
You TOLD him??? You monster!
Honestly, I was surprised he didn’t already know.
Also, PSGarak’s guide on solo confession exchange isn’t accurate. Whimsy becomes Pride in the Pavilion. At least today.

I’m surprised there hasn’t been an ES about telling everyone where Bonsworths’ cheese comes from. Because it’s not cows.

Certainly. It comes from mushrooms–as does every food in the Neath that isn’t made from meat.
Nah, it’s made of spiders.
1672 Spirit, and that was with a hefty Fate speed boost because I only found my Balmoral strat after 2-3 days of floundering. Ye gods this is tense, don’t wanna overspend on Fate but REALLY don’t wanna miss that 2500 target.
2714 Sprit. Less than i expected, but whatever. I will prepare plant heads for next year if this time i underperform

Yeowch. How’d you manage that?
I’ve used almost every action on getting spirit; didn’t even touch the EF or non-favour cards. I’m still only around 1864. I’m hoping I just make it, but I fear that I might fall short of 2500.
Last year Skinnyman reached 7777 Spirit (my result was around 3k). I am using his methonds. Check this thread https://www.reddit.com/r/fallenlondon/comments/ds200j/the_spirit_of_the_north_i_frigging_did_it_7777/
2302… looking to clear the bar quite comfortably. I wonder just how much extra points you need for the prestige ranks or whatever you’d call them.
The Spirit can presumably gathered until morning/noon Friday the 6th, is that right?
I am currently at 1546, but I still believe that unless I start wasting actions, I should reach 2500 by that time.
Do you fellows presume there will be some incentive to get very much over 2500? Last year, there wasn’t, and the text seems to suggest that this year likewise anything over 2500 will "only" be further progression of the associated title.
I suppose we’ll see if the title will be scaling with the accumulated Spirit this year.
As for the plant heads, they are not really useful as they move you directly to the Tomb Colonies, or am I missing something? Anyone has another idea how to speed up the accumulation of menaces? I still don’t believe that failing Cabinet Noir checks is actually faster in Spirit accumulation than converting Scintillack and Collated Research at St Elmo’s, provided you have the resources at hand…

- Send scandal reduction social action to your alt.
- Use plant head (or boneless consort card option) to set your scandal to 8. DO NOT CLOSE RESULT.
- Activate social action on alt’s side.
- Now your main’s scandal is 7, keep playing.

I’m stumped. "Plant heads"?
