However, re: Mr Eaten - I’ve said this before but it bears repeating: most people who have embarked on the Mr Eaten quest will not be able to finish it. If this incident is causing you concern, you should absolutely duck out now because the more you go on, the more frustrated you’ll get.
Oh, yay! Will we be able to choose the same destinies later on, or will there be entirely different options? Or a mix of the two?

So glad to hear the Destinies will be available again! While I’m mostly happy with the one I’ve ended up with (it was interesting, and as always, the content was delightfully written) it doesn’t really fit my character particularly well. I hope to have a chance in future to find a more appropriate outcome (perhaps something a little more watchful :p)
Did anyone ever find the Diabolical Diplomat? I really want to see how that visit went down.[li] edited by aceinit on 11/2/2013
I chose the Diabolical Diplomat as my Hallowmas visitor if that’s what you mean? And also picked him in the "Wednesday in Parabola" thing (what are we calling that step?) to get my destiny, which is equipped if you want to see it. I got him as an option instead of the Bishop (for some reason that’s not listed on the wiki as an option, but that was DEFINITELY where I was, no bishop, just the devil, the magician, the queen, the Master, and myself)
I echoed most of it, but it’s a little way back in my journal now, I just went through the Cave of the Nadir for the first time (woo!) and of course I had to echo most of that, because it’s awesome, so the Hallowmas stuff is buried under those posts, it might be back a page or so. Sorry!
I don’t think anyone has bought the hesperidian cider because you’d need to grind for practically as long as the game’s existed to afford it
i mean there was that one kickstarter backer who got it but that doesn’t count
Actually, it’d be possible to afford the Hesperidean Cider with no Nex/Fate at all in about six months–there’s one action in the game that gives around 7.5 echoes per action, and if you could repeat it every ten minutes you’d have enough in approximately 180 days (it’s been a while since I crunched those numbers).
The action in question, though, is accepting thirty First City Coins, so you’d need a network of accomplices extensive enough to ship you thirty coins every ten minutes for six straight months. I ran the numbers to see how many accomplices it’d take assuming they each play fifty actions per day, but I can’t seem to find my notes.
(I doubt Alexis would let us get away with it, though.)
(I doubt Alexis would let us get away with it, though.)
Why not? It seems like a suitable reward for someone who can manage to get the support of that many players. Assuming that they’re players and not just an army of alts. How many First City Coins do you get in 50 actions anyway? One? Two? Let’s be generous and say two coins. Then you’d need 15 players per ten minutes in a day for the recipient. 50 Actions per day for the recipient as well? Then that’d be 750 players. Sure, they wouldn’t have to do anything particularly grindy, just pick up the coins when they’re available, and send them over when they’ve found 30. Seems more doable if they’re actually 75 players playing 10 characters each, which would still be quite an accomplishment in my book. And a lot more grindy for each player.
Sounds like a project for seekers. Might be the only way to make sure at least one seeker survives to the end. Let GERBarb and RUSBarb from the old Diablo 2 days inspire you to greatness! :D
What are the sources of FCC anyway? There’s the Museum of Mistakes, but that’s invite-only and a total toss-up at the end. I get mine through the presumptuous opportunity card, but its availability is up to the whims of chance and I have no idea how long it actually takes to get 5 cellars of wine in the first place. (I grind Greyfields 1882 in Ladybones and work my way up the chain, but it might be faster to exchange 1879 for Broken Giant directly.)
I somehow managed to accumulate 122 of them while pursuing a completely different ambition. Probably via “An improbable exchange” option on "A presumptious little opportunity card (which awards you with 30) and numerous plays on “A smaller bazaar” card, which is fairly common.
I’ve got 229 of them at last count. There’s also a Counting the Days-dependant action on "An Unusual Wager" that gives you a FCC on a luck roll. Not reliable, but it is a source.
And the promise of “We’ll also be adding ways you can tease and terrorise your friends in Fallen London. In a strict and decorous manner, of course. Stay close….” Oh well maybe next Hallowmas.
A guide to accumulating First City Coins and getting rich at the same time.
Join the Young Stags’ Club.[/li][li]Whenever you draw the Young Stags card, make the bet. The odds are 90% in your favour or maybe even better, and when you succeed, you get two Echoes of Greyfields 1882.[/li][li]Every time you have 1000 Greyfields 1882, trade it for Morelways on the A presumptuous little opportunity card (hereafter, ‘the card’). This gets you 240 Morelways: a profit of four Echoes for one action.[/li][li]Whenever you have 400 Morelways, trade it for 96 Strangling Willow Absinthe on the card. This nets a profit of eight Echoes for two actions.[/li][li]Convert your Absinthe to Broken Giant through your inventory. Convert the Broken Giant to Cellars of Wine the same way. I don’t know how profitable this is, but my gut feeling is that it’s pretty good. Rare successes are not terribly uncommon and can be worth up to 62.5 Echoes.[/li][li]When you have five Cellars of Wine, convert them to Airag on the card. This takes three actions. The Airag is worth exactly the same as the Cellars of Wine, but you get 30 First City Coins. (For people interested in selling them: 7.5 Echoes for 3 actions.)
I seem to recall gaining a few of them in Flute St, but that’s fate-locked, so I’m not sure if that counts? Also I have no idea if it works out at a better rate than the Airag option, but Flute St is pretty darned cool anyway. I went there a while ago though, so I don’t know if it’s changed.
I was hoping we would get something else for "a Feast of Masks" as well. sadface edited by Inky Petrel on 11/3/2013
Actually this First City Coins scheme doesn’t seem that terrible - especially if you’ve about run out of other things to grind towards - and as I’m only 2k from my Overgoat so I’m about to hit that point.

Not sure if it’s still an option but I got all mine to advance Heart’s Desire through grinding moon pearls and then getting Criminals to do the stealing for me in exchange.
I don’t have the text to hand, but my reading of the Void destinies was that The Bazaar needs twelve Masters to execute its plan. We already had strong evidence of their being only eleven since that sad business with Mr Candles. The player was presumably drafted to make up the number.
