Forum game: Ask the character!

Like London? My good sir, I’ve come to appreciate the darkness of the Neath, that much I cannot deny. Yet I do miss great many things up in the surface, many things I still wished to see, some things I wish to do. However, I can no longer return to the surface lest I wish death to take me. Not to mention, I haven’t yet killed— I spoke too much. To answer your question, I would’ve like London if I wasn’t a prisoner of the Neath.

Now let me ask. How do you like to spend your days in London? Assuming there’s nothing big that’s going on.

&quotWatching. Learning. Trying to see. To know. I’m here for that. Got caught for that. Always more to learn. Always something big going on. Green lights. Golden machines. Screaming steins and weeping vermin kings. Probably a misnomer. ‘Nothing big going on’. Colloquial. Sorry. I know what you mean. …don’t think it makes a difference.&quot
A pause.
&quotBeen dreaming again. Makes answering questions hard. Harder.&quot
Another pause.
&quotI need to go.&quot

The Unterzee - that vast saltwater body in the Neath. It holds secrets possibly more abundant and nefarious above and below its waters than all London combined - if that were even possible. It’s also said to be a place to find great fortunes, and to earn incredible fame and/or glory.
Does it make you curious? Is it enticing? Would you, personally, ever set out to zee, had you the resources for an extended voyage? And if so, for what reason?

Mr Lamperouge smiles wryly

&quotI have personally made many a voyage onto and beneath the Unterzee, for some reason or other. I wouldn’t exactly reccommend extended stay, but once you visit the first time, there’s just this… …yearning to return. Now do refrain from quoting that without proper context; there’s nothing ominous about the wish to return to zee, but it is instead more of a gentle nostalgia. The taste of adrenaline and salt on your lips, the buzz of adventure and discovery… …it’s quite unique.

Of course, I myself captain a research vessel, a remarkable research vessel at that, but a research vessel nonetheless. Those looking for more comfortable quarters should look to the myriad pleasure yachts that Mr Apples is so very fond of.

And lastly, should I ever take an extended voyage myself, assume I have done so on matters of severe importance. The Zee is wonderful, but dreadfully cruel, and I do not wish that anyone would stay past their intended visit.&quot

If you could have your own patch of sunlit garden in the Neath, what would you grow?

Like most relationships, then?

[li]Oh, but this is an easy one. Something to fulfull a desire not only close to my heart, but to almost all with whom I have had the opportunity for discourse. Proper Surface Coffee Beans.

Now as to my question - Who among us will raise the cows so that we may have proper cream?

We do have proper cream! Full fat, uncompromising cream, made from the milk of moon-misers.

What would you like your friends to see you as?

Kind, above all.

Many of my acquaintances know me to be somewhat reclusive, but I pray they know that I value them highly aswell, and will quite literally march through Hell for them.

Given knowledge of the Bazaar’s relationship with the Sun, what would you do with it?

The story of my Daughter in the Shadows.
Partially because her story is her own. She came down here to escape something, and I dare not take that from her. From anyone.
Everyone has a right to a new life. The right to be whomever they want to be. The right to forget. The Neath exists in the darkness and it’s gift is to let its people hide.

But I would be lying if I didn’t say that the rumors are far more interesting than the truth. A daughter so near my own age?
Was I a ravenous, wild, youth or is she not as she appears. The rumor and innuendo are far more valuable than the truth. To tell that story would be killing the golden goose! I dare not.

A Recycled question to be answered anew: What is your greatest regret?

I have many, many regrets alas, but the one that came to my head the fastest is The Fidgeting Writer. I would keep on trying to get lucky and get Coruscating Souls, and I did not get so much as one. EVER. Now I stay away.

Where is your favorite place to Zail?

The Sea of Voices.

A zailor working for me, boinking a visitor.

The bedroom they are in, boinking the neighboring room.

The majestic yacht containing the rooms, boinking a local steamer.

Ahem. Are there anyone in the Salon or the Bazaar nearby that you particularly admire?

[OOC: Not answering the question, but this response reminded me of Christopher Moore’s catch-phrase &quotWhat heinous fuckery is this?&quot]

Kelly: I admires nothing. And nothing deserves my admiration. Nothing.

Anatasia: These two man who drank coffee with me at the very beginning of my times in London, they are good company. The other two gentlemen, Kaigen and Genitech who offered me patronage, they are powerful and deserves my respect.

Do you have a signature weapon?

My devastating flirtatiousness!

Question: Do you dance?

Anatasia: With hands and feet, with swords, with words. Or all three of them.

Kelly: I only dance with pickpockets.

What do you think of me?

Astherson: Semi-adorable, little, inexperienced, hyperactive arrogance that had never been in a solid uphill fight, never smelled a stench of burning flesh and never hunted a big game, but claims to be a combatant.
Still, I hope you survive in here, because recent arrivials are not as hot-headed as you. Who knows ? Maybe you would even preserve your soul.

Mustela: Oi, I have a theory that good’ol London is a magnet of sorts for maiden aunts and wild hoydens. And if the latter group can be sweet sometimes, the former category is to be avoided by all means, unless you do not care for your nerves… And your purse… And your lodgings… And your reputation. [sobs]

I’ve heard of recent weaponary inventions made by americans. They may even change military doctrines of all major nations soon.
Sooo… Does anyone know if Mr. Fires has any open tenders ?
And how meticulous he is about shipping circumstances ?

Weapons? You’d have to ask April, even if I don’t like Revolutionaries that much. Or Grumpy Iron-kins who sells guns. Not Fires.

Player or not, what’s the most incredible thing you saw about Knife and Candle?

Hmm…I was at a church function once, paying my respects to the dead, when I heard a strangled scream from the back of the church. It was a bloody affair, a slit throat and a stolen eyeball. But the vicar just lit another candle and sent a deacon with a mop. Well. We all have our vices, no?

Now, tell me the most interesting honey-dream you’ve ever had.

Good evening sir. The most interesting honey-dream I can recall at this moment couldn’t be said in public, although it involves a whore at Watchmaker’s Hill, a Rat-catcher, and an Ubergoat.

Now that question is out of the way, what is the most interesting thing you smuggled into Fallen London?

Ah, hah hah hah… There was a certain creature that I had to smuggle into Fallen London from the Surface. It was not easy - suffice to say, the easiest way to achieve this was through dirigibles going to and from New Newgate! But ah, a being so marvellous, so beautiful, so captivating… the whole ordeal was certainly worth it, if only to present the delighful thing to Londoners.

That thing, kind sir… was me.

Now, let loose the juicy gossip and tell me, delicious friends: what is the most nefarious, most sinful, most immoral, sweetest act of evil that you performed during your stay in the Neath? Just asking, for… research. Research for a psychological thesis, yes.

Hah. Asking me of my sins? There isn’t a priest alive who’d hold a sermon long enough for me. For all the people I’ve killed, for all the souls I’ve claime, for all the goods I’ve robbed. Most would say my most despicable would to convincing a warweary soldier that he’d be better off without a soul. But I know that the blackest act I’ve done is send my wife to New Newgate for her ties with the calendar council. You might say that three years of marriage was worth something, but so was that bounty on her head.

So, my friends, what have you done that most would say was out of character for you? What drove you to that course of action, and was it as out of character as they would think?

I went to church. I do have a talent for slumbering with my eyes open, so it wasn’t as horrible as it could have been.

Being helpful has its cons, as I’m affected by the menaces of those I choose to aid.

I don’t mind that much. Having someone indebted to you is always useful.

But enough about that.

Let’s talk about the Khanate.
The lovely place reminds me of home.
The way they hold The Sky in such high regard pleases me as well, as it is my namesake.
Sometimes I feel that I belong there, rather than in Fallen London.
However, I believe that the most fun adventures are the ones had out of my comfort zone, and so here I am among Westerners.

So what do you think of the Khanate? If you know it at all, of course.
