Forum game: Ask the character!

My original benefactors (says DragonRidingSorceress), a pair of soon-to-be-ex orphans who wanted to make something more of themselves. I haven’t heard from them in a long time, but it would be a wonderful way of thanking them.

What do you miss most about the Surface?

Nothing. The Neath has so much to offer, things that make the Surface seem like a joke. Well, there is one thing. I sort of miss real, honest, actual tea. Each time I’m invited to tea down here, it makes me yearn for the real stuff. I’ve been experimenting a bit to try and brew a suitable replacement. Boiling dried tomb colonists wrappings can come close if you know how to season them properly, but it just isn’t the same.

Who would you rather have as a blind date? A Tomb Colonist, a Rubbery Man, or a Master?

A Master. I can barely abide the carriage traffic between Veilgarden and Spite. But Flute Street or Venderbight? Their remoteness is hardly conducive.

Do Nomen have souls? Could a devil acquire a Noman soul?

Well, I doubt anyone really knows for sure, except possibly the devils. My strong suspicion, however, is that they do not. By all accounts, the creation of a Noman seems to draw upon the… essence? personality? of its creator, and it seems that the individual to create a Noman imbues it with some fraction of their self. This is supported by the fact that Nomen seem to resemble their creators physically. This would seem to suggest that the Noman shares in the soul of its creator in some fashion - except for the fact that Nomen can and have been created by the soulless. While I know little about the human soul itself (my associations with devils have ended, likely permanently), it seems unlikely that a soul would be spontaneously created to &quotfill&quot the newly formed Noman when every other aspect of the creature appears to be sourced in its creator. Thus, I find it highly unlikely that Nomen have souls. Again, however, this is pure speculation.

Have you ever (permanently) taken a human life? If so, why?

Yes. I chopped one up with a cleaver and permanently poisened another. Why? Orders. Getting into a club. Sheer insanity.

What is your major problem with the Neath lifestyle?

The food. It’s intolerable. I detested the flavor of water-dwelling creatures on the Surface, but here’s even worse. It tastes of putrefaction and despair. And what else is there? Fungus. I swear, sometimes I have the feeling that I’m turning into a mushroom myself.
Well, there are some… alternatives, of which I shall not speak.

Completely unrelated to my answer,
Have you ever tasted man-flesh?

Yes.

Which of the major activity hubs of London do you frequent most often, and why?

Why not? It’s flesh like any other. Fresh meat is fresh meat, no matter where it comes from. I’ve actually made it a goal of mine to taste the flesh of every type of sentient creature to walk the Neath. The only one I’d never try again is Clay Man flesh. It tastes like eating a wall.

-Edit-

Which of the major activity hubs of London do you frequent most often, and why?

I get around quite a bit, but I enjoy planning crimes in the Flit and plotting murder in my lodgings.

How old were you when London fell?
edited by Arol on 1/17/2015

Soran: Oh… Seven, perhaps? Maybe eight? I was just a child. I have distinct memories at the time of my parents trying to use the news of London’s fall as a means to scare me out of my &quotdisgusting&quot affinity for bats. As you can plainly see, it… Did not work. If anything, knowing that bats were capable of such a feat only made them more fascinating to me. I suppose it was inevitable from that moment that I would come to the Neath one day.

Cairn: I would prefer to keep my precise age secret, but I will say this; I was likewise only a child then, and not very much older than my dear Soran.

Zero: Well, unlike the old folk here, I’m only twenty-seven, and since London fell three decades ago, that would put me at about, ah… Negative three years old? So, fairly young; I don’t really remember much from that time.

Soran: … Groan I’ll just ask the next question, before my headache gets any worse; what is your deepest motivation? What is the main reason you get out of bed each day?

Breakfast.

But seriously, I’ve never had any trouble getting myself out of bed for anything. I’m somewhat more selective about what gets me in, though. Somewhat.

On that note, how profound do you like to appear with people? Do you try to impress them, or come off as more casual and less off-putting?

I like to project an image of an aloof socalite. Beneath that, though, is a bloodthirsty, knowledge-thirsty kleptomaniac.
On that lovely note, what is the worst thing you’ve ever done?

The worst thing I’ve ever done? I have done many things since I came down here, to the Neath, but the worst? Some time ago, a friend of mine gave me a bottle of Cantigaster venom. First I brought down two figures of import, whom I shall not identify, and then countless cronies set upon the river, never again to return.

On the other side of the coin: What is the greatest deed you have ever accomplished?

I destroyed a… certain establishment. It’s likely safer for everyone if I leave out the details, but suffice to say that extremely unpleasant business was being conducted there, and the Neath is much improved with its absence.

Have you sold your soul? If so, why? If not, is there any cause or offer for which you would do so?

Once long ago, for ready cash in a tight spot. But there are ways, and there are means. I haven’t had the need to repeat the effort, though it can’t be ruled out. But we’re a long way from those desperate days.

What is your favorite neighborhood of the city?

I don’t really have one. I drift about the city, staying in whatever neighborhood takes my fancy.
If you could take one item off the bazaar forever, which oe would it be?

Most people would expect me to say the Urchins, but the Bazaar is hardly the most exploitive being in London, as far as they are concerned, and the contracts there are fair enough to them.
No, what I would want to see Boycotted forever from their exchange would be… the Bengal Tigress, to make my recent acquisition of one all the more special and rare.

On the opposite note, what would you like to be purchasable that now isn’t?

I have, on multiple occasions, wished that Nassos had more creatures for sale.

Of all your pets, which do you hold most dear?

My L.B Bandit cheif. It reminds me of my warhammer army.
Say, what’s your favorite game? (in game).

I enjoy lizard tossing. And dramatic improvisation, if that counts as a ‘game’.
When was the most surprised you’ve ever been?
