However, I don’t recall the Abyssal Depths having any storylets. You play cards until you resolve the situation, and then you get sent back into Fallen London.

Hello, just a suggestion that might have been made elsewhere (if so, sorry), and maybe a request for help.
A few times a year, I am unable to play FL for a period of 2-3 weeks. Recently, my PC died and I had to wait 2 weeks for parts to posted to me. This is a pain, since I am at the stage where I am starting to raise Notoriety. When I come back, I’ve lost 1-2 points of notoriety.
Yes, Notoriety is can be gained through "free" transactions, trading goods and so on, so it doesn’t cost me any NEX. But its still nasty to have lost out on those goods. Also, if I am at low Making Waves when I am called away, I cannot get them high enough so that I don’t lose Notoriety every week. (When my PC died, I was in Polythreme. I was only going to take a look, spent 3 weeks there).
Is there a "safe" location I haven’t found where I can park myself? Somewhere where Making Waves does not drop every week? Or can the game provide one, please.
I had the same request. Going overseas, with unknown access to the internet, and precious Notability having just been gained. I too wish there was a way of ‘pausing’ characters - SAYING, “I’m not going to be around for a while.” It wouldn’t just help with Notability - it would mean characters could be removed from social action lists, so that other players don’t end up waiting forever for invitations to be answered.
+1. But I requested it a long time ago, and conclude that the absence of such a mechanism is a deliberate gameplay choice by FBG.
Expressing agreement with above
A Vacation Mode would be cool, so long as doing things would immediately turn it off. Possibly there would have to be a delay between turning it off and turning it back on, to prevent people from just turning it on after doing their actions in order to slow Time down.
It’d get my vote.
Maybe it could operate so that you simply wouldn’t be visited by Time, the Healer. i.e. no weekly payment, no clearing of Irrigo, no Menace reduction… but no loss of MW or Notability.
Maybe you’d have to switch it on at least 48 hours before Time was due, and keep it on until at least 48 hours after Time would have arrived (or even longer - 1 week?). Coupled with a mechanism that taking any action within the set period would cancel “vacation mode”, that could work I think.
A combination of no TTH + remove from social action lists, with appropriate time delay safeguards, would be awesome.
I think this would be easy to implement in the current system (my own StoryNexus game has this feature) with the exception of the time delays. To get around that, you’d just need to charge a lot of actions to go on vacation (or come off it). That would effectively stop people gaming the system.
Fallen London appears to be down right now, and whenever that happens and I have a bunch of Actions and cards that are just vanishing into nothing, I kind of wonder if anyone at FBG actually knows that the server is down and are working to get it back up again, or if you’re all busy working on stuff and as a small developer don’t have the resources to employ someone to sit around all day long and play the game to make sure it’s working.
I start looking around to see if there are any messages on twitter or such, and when I see nothing, I wonder if I’m supposed to send a message to someone. Or would that be completely unnecessary, because there’s some automatic system set up to keep an eye on the servers and alert support when needed? I just wish there was a way to know that you know.

In general, if you’re experiencing an issue and it doesn’t look like we’ve spotted it, the quickest and most reliable way to flag it for our attention or get assurance that we’re working on it is to file a support ticket. We watch all of our channels, but tickets come straight to the top of the pile.
It would be useful to have an in-built note-pad feature. For example, I am beginning to hoard MW cards for when I go away. I just know that sometime in the future, I’ll unthinkingly play one. It would be nice if I could put a note to myself in the interface, near the cards.
It’d also help with planning. I’d be able to record my most recent goals.
As an example of utility: Inability to record goals has resulted in me having, off the top of my head:
Press - whirring contraptions
Press - Salacious Copy
Face-tailor - decide
Ambition - go to zee
Breeding beasts - plated seal, rubbery hound
Nadir - decide
etc.
and I’m sure I’ve missed some.
Greetings esteemed Failbetter people,
I would love it if the custom text associated with social actions was recorded in the message feed of my account. Currently only text from Letters is displayed in the feed, but when role-playing with acquaintances (such as my Seen With) I rarely use letters to communicate as this is a waste of an action that could be used on Chess or Coffee. Having had back and forth in character conversations with other players for months, I often want to check back to remind myself of the last thing we were talking about, but this only works for Letters.
It would be awesome if you could do this, it would make this game even more delicious than it already is.
Yours,
S
I’m thoroughly loving the game and have been tempted by the Nex only options. Thing is, having paid for a particular path, and getting a negative outcome, I’m now a hell of a lot less likely to click on a pay-to-play option again. I have no problem with negative outcomes normally, but paying for them is really off-putting.
Sorry to hear you had a bad experience. Mind providing a bit more detail? Which Fate option was it that you took?

It was an expedition, I can’t get back in for more info than that until I do a lot of preparation to get supplies, sorry. I got beaten to it.
Did you only have the minimum number of supplies? Personally I didn’t do any expeditions until I accumulated 100, and just replaced what I lost after finishing the expedition. For that sort of thing there’s always that risk of failure, though most Fate-locked content is safe from complete and utter failure.
I had supplies left, but my opponent beat me to it, so I got nothing.
In other news, I got stuck in the house of chimes - my exceptional friend ran out while I was there and when I tried to travel, I got messages that only exceptional friend can go to my lodgings etc.
There should be an option to confront your rivals when Rival’s Progress reaches 10. I haven’t done both of the Fate-locked expeditions, but it’s there for the others and I don’t see why there wouldn’t be one for the Fate-locked Expeditions.
You should submit a bug report for that. The email for support is listed on the help tab - support@failbettergames.com
