I just sent you a rattus :)
If you and a friend each send a gift, and each Accept the gift, then you each spend two actions and receive one gift.
But if you each send one gift and Cancel it, then you each spend only one action to receive one gift, because the gift is returned to the sender.
It is actively harmful to Accept gifts instead of canceling them. You should always cancel. The only time it makes sense to Accept is when a character who can afford to buy gifts is sending them to a character who cannot afford to buy any gifts.

Seriously?
And that promotes amicable, pleasant play how? Among "friends"?
If all you’re interested in is maximising your loot, and you don’t care about other players or your rep., maybe. But some of the best play to be had on FL is the interaction with like-minded others, and this kind of behaviour is apt to ruin that.
How desperate would you have to be (having just spent a bundle on the item) to go all out to save a single action and risk upsetting another player. Especially folks who are not up on your little me, me, me, grab, grab, grab wheeze.
Yeah, no, I think that’s a terrible idea. Even with friends.
It’s not actively harmful - it’s just a little inefficient. But, because people can cancel their own sent gifts if that’s how they want to do it, it’s an inefficiency that people are willingly undertaking, in order to enjoy the conviviality of gift-giving.
I always seem to be short of actions, so doubling the number of actions something takes just by clicking one button instead of another seems harmful to me. The funny thing is that the "wrong" button looks so much friendlier.
Again, though, you can just cancel the gift-sending yourself. It doesn’t cost an action to cancel it, so you’d be better off doing so yourself than expecting someone else to do it for you.

I just sent you a gift!
All of these fancy new Advanced Stat spouses has me wishing for some kind of an upgrade to player marriages… maybe you and your player-spouse could opt to take some kind of little adventure or class together that leads to Espoused To granting a +1 in two of the advanced stats, with you each getting to choose one of them, or they could be based on your professions… something like that could be quite fun, and it might ease the pain of player-marriages not granting BDR.

I just started the game, and want to participate in this event as much as I can.

Biggest thing is probably to make sure to play the feast of the rose card whenever it comes up! It’ll gain Masquing with most of its options. Get as much masquing as you can. Then, when you draw the "encounter at the feast" card, spend that masquing for companions. if you just started, probably focus on the free companions, no point in paying IRL money for fate gifts if you’re just getting started in the game.
Just wanted to say, how wonderful is the description for the new companion, the Cloistered Diatomist? “He sees beauty where others see only dust” - marvellous.
Thanks to everyone, I received a lot of gifts. But since I am not a Fate player, I can only redeem companions that are priced at 30 Masquing or less.
Still, I see some cheap companions that I do not yet have.
I forgot what I did in last year’s Feast. I was still a relatively new player, many places still not yet unlocked, still not a POSI, stats not yet maxed.
Time the Healer also diminishes memories, no?
Learning about the art of diatom arrangement was the real treasure we gained along the way, this year!
Time the Healer also diminishes memories, no?
If you mean Masquing, then no, it doesn’t, until the end of the Feast, when any remaining Masquing will be converted to Making Waves, as noted in the initial post on this thread:
Key dates for the Festival[ul][li]The Feast of the Rose starts on February 3rd
[/li][li]February 10th: An Encounter at the Feast and The Lady in Lilac become available. Trade gifts for Masquing, and obtain new companions.
[/li][li]February 17th: Gift exchanging and obtaining Masquing close. You will still have a week to exchange Masquing for companions and to experience Feast seasonal stories.
[/li][li]February 24th: The Festival ends. Any Masquing not spent will become Making Waves when Time, the Healer comes.
[/li][/ul]
@fishandchips: Non-Fate only for you? Right! Now that we have become acquainted in game, I’ll send some Non-Fate goodies your way!
I just found out that I have this:
Not sure how I got it, but if someone had sent it to me, thank you.
I can use it to redeem for 10 Masquing with Lilac, but I won’t do that. I shall keep it as a precious souvenir.
9 Glass of Teeth Available! Singed Playing Cards preferred, but will take anything.
For those who wonder why I don’t return gifts anymore… well, I went crazy last week and depleted most of the ingredients used to make those gifts.
I’m willing to exchange just about any non-Fate gift. Send me what you want and I’ll send it back.
