Tanned Mask is best in slot for Shadowy (I think). The Hearse is best in slot for Persuasive - it only gives +1, but it’s the only Persuasive transport (and it’s also best in Bizarre, which is mostly useless but nevertheless neat because generally that’s the hardest of the BDR to raise).

Then you have the Rosary which is only useful for BDR (unless you go Seeking) and the rest are literally only for masking or collecting.

I must say, without a 30 masq companion, gift giving for non-fate user isn’t much profitable, since with the &quotFeast of the rose&quot card you can grind masquing quite easily (and gives usually several echoes worth of stuff, too). My first Feast I got almost all (if not all) the non fate locked companions without trading gifts. Last year I got the Diplomat, The Cat Chiefest Claw, the Pentecost Ape, and got the acquaitance with the Princess.
This year I traded mainly because I wanted the gifts.
I think the non fate locked masquing was intended more as a discount for the fate locked companions rather than a way to get 20+ masquing companions.

To be honest I prefer this way, since I’m not a big fan of the 20+ masquing grinding thing.

Two of the gifts can be combined to make a new companion. Another gift (which can be obtained through other Fated means outside FotER,) can be upgraded during Hallowmas. One nonFate gift could be sold to the de Gustibus club, and presumably still could be if they ever return.

Same here, for the Lilac; I’ve drawn the Encounter card twice (just now in fact). Happily, the Rose card keeps coming up to renew masquing after adding the Presbyterate Diplomat to my… entourage? Coterie? Posse? All work.

(Edited to add, Lilac just turned up for my alt, though-- her being just a few weeks in the Neath-- I took the opportunity to add a tattoo.)
