Father's Bones

It’s the only other member of your crew with an interest in fish.

You need to complete the Poissonnier’s storyline; his upgraded version will happily stay with the Fathom King.

The Nacreous Survivor can be used as well.
Aha, so this &quotTree of Ages&quot-monster is unrelated? Thanks for the tip, heading to Irem immediately!

No, that’s not correct - the Fathomking got very upset when I tried to give him the Icarus in Black (the weapon built by the tittering artificer in Iron Republic that fires demon hunters). His said &quotWe are most displeased&quot or words to that effect.

Also, I don’t really want to give him the Memento Mori, because that means the Tireless Mechanics questline is impossible (no Memento Mori, no Endless Dawn).
I gave him the serpentine, he was happy with that. Dont lose the impeller!

Okay, let’s get a master-list going, shall we?

BRING ME…
THE HEART OF A LEGEND
known options:
-Mt Nomad (works, with major downside)
-Tree of Ages (?)

A LIGHT FROM THE SKY
known options:
-Sunlight
-?

A WILLING GUEST, TO STAY WITH ME FOREVER
known options:
-Nacreous Outcast (?)/Survivor
-Bandaged Chef-Paramount (?)

WITNESS OF AN ELDEST’S END
known options:
-the First Curator
-the Principles

THE FRUIT OF AN ETERNAL TREE
known options:
-from Irem
-from the Uttershroom

A MIRACLE OF TECHNOLOGY
known options:
-The Serpentine
-Memento Mori
-Fulgent Impeller

A few further spoilers, to discuss a few things discussed earlier in this thread that are outdated / wrong.

ETERNAL FRUIT
-Solacefruit are not from an eternal tree.
-As is usually the case, getting something from Irem tends to be fast but expensive, and getting things from the Uttershroom is relatively cheap but takes a lot of zailing.
-Blemmigans are NOT the fruit of the Uttershroom. Nor is a Ray-Drenched Cinder. Something else, however, is.
-The Uttershroom is NOT the only source of Cosmogone. However, the other source will take a lot of monkey business.
-With proper propagation, you can get a second reward from the Uttershroom. Not sure about a third.

A MIRACLE OF TECHNOLOGY
-The Fulgent Impeller can now be built without selling the Memento Mori to a very specific buyer. It’s still bloody expensive, though.
-A captain who had the Memento Mori can pass it on via the Rival legacy - even if they’d sold or otherwise gotten rid of it before retiring. This also means that a captain who inherits a Memento Mori can build a second, and use the spare here or sell it.
-Under certain circumstances, you CAN re-buy the Serpentine.
Couple questions, too!

-Can anyone actually confirm that they have fought and killed the Tree of Ages, got a ‘heart’ from it, and used it for the Heart of a Legend? Or is this just speculated? Personally, I’ve never had a chance to fight the bloody thing.

(mild spoilers for officer quests)
-Are there any other officers who’d willingly go to the Fathomking - say, one who wants to die or retire to exile? I’ll work on checking that myself, but in the meantime, can anyone confirm/deny?

For a light from the sky, try a mountain sherd

It works, and he really loves it.

I can confirm that neither the sigil ridden navigator nor the presbetyrate adventuress will stay.

Very frustrating bug associated with this ambition and a philosopher past. I returned to London with the necessary endgame, erm, materials and went through the forced story options. Yay! I win. While choosing my successor, the Gazeteer suddenly pops up with the endgame story options active again. Because I had already completed it, I no longer had the necessary materials. I could not close the Gazeteer (it’s a forced interaction that cannot be avoided). All I could do was choose the non-win option, at which point the game saved and dumped me back to London with the &quotretire&quot ambition now activated. Such a bummer. Such a HUGE bummer.

thanks for letting me know the other option - now for the bonus question… where do i find our bandaged cook? the jonah story wasn’t opened for me in my current run thru. in the past, he’s still popped up at vanderbilt, but this time round i can’t seem to find him anywhere. i’m wondering if there are some conditions to finding him that i stumbled across by accident before and am missing now. any ideas?

Try a visit to Demeaux with some terror.

Homer - hahaha, I had the same thing. Very amusing. I got it by taking my father as the officer with my legacy.

Harbourlady, I think the funging company, tea with the factor, or it will pop on a few of the “explore venderbight” options.

indeed it did! thanks for the tip - my captain is now hopeful that finding her fathers bones is a possible reality instead of the vague dream she’s been feeling just outside of her grasp.
