Fate-Locked Content

If I’m not wrong, someone made a flowchart of the Iron Republic, based on the Wiki. Getting changed is merely a nominal state, and the Republic is a truly wonderful place to explore, for the lore.

If you just mean a map, I’ve made one of those myself. But I can’t recall if every option there gives the same amount of CP, which is what I’d need to test.

@Luke, no, you don’t need fate for the Republic, unless you wish to spend them on increasing quirks.
The Substantial treasure is better gained w/o nex, I’d say.

@Urth, different options give different amounts of cp’s. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AmIgjvh0rFaLdEFBandlZUFMUDNNaVBXTjZLSC1kbHc#gid=0 shows the Garden of Forking paths and how to deal with it.

at some point I need to tidy them up… :)

and yes, I’d second Aximillio’s comment about not using Fate there. Very much a fiendish trick Devils like to pull on unsuspecting Players…

Hello fellow Londoners.
I’m curios is there any fate-locked content that can be repeated without paying twice.

Well, you can go back to Flute Street whenever you want (as well as repeat the trip down if you’d like). You can also breed monsters with the Empyrean Redolence as long as you don’t have the resulting pet already. I don’t know if there’s any Fatelocked content that you can repeat entirely, but there may be parts of it you can continue to do.

I’m pleased to hear that. Thank you.

Out of curiosity, if one wanted to play every single Fate-locked storyline in Fallen London (and only the storylines; no spending Fate on things that do not open substantial new story segments), exactly how much Fate would one need? And what is the precise link between Fate and Nex, anyway (i.e. what is the Nex to Fate conversion rate)?

Fate is worth the same as Nex, but Nex is usable in all Storynexus worlds while Fate is only in Fallen London. As for your other question…

Soul Trade - 25
Rubbery Murders - 25
Long Lost Daughter - 25
Velocipede Squad - 20
Empyrean Redolence - 20
Flute Street - 25
Foreign Office - 20
Secrets Framed in Gold - 19
House of Chimes (temp) - 20

Total - 199

There are a few other things that are alternate branches, but I’m unsure if you would count those as full storylines. There is also a thing for 100 Nex that opens up a few options here and there (as well as get you an additional Constant Companion option), but again I do not know if that would count.

How does In Possession of a Peculiar Personal Enhancement work exactly? Because I’ve gotten it, but when I’ve selected some of the options that are unlocked with it, the quality drops and I gain a few Appalling Secrets. Is there a way to raise it again without requiring another 100 fate, or…?

The enhancement is temporary. You gain a pool of points to spend, and after a few actions you will lose the quality. There isn’t another way to raise it as far as I’m aware, so spend those points wisely.

No. Not as far as I know (and I kind of doubt it)

Alright then, can anyone pm me with the rewards that doing the actions unlocked with that quality get you? I don’t want to use it unwisely, but I don’t know what the rewards for a lot of the storylets are or where to find them.

One such reward is the rubbery companion.

The storylet that gets you the Companion is the only one to have Committed 0 as a req., for reference. You’ll want to get rid of the other Committed option cards (thief, admirer) first though…

So I purchased an alliance with the Scholars of Benthic College for the Christmas special, but when At Your Window popped up I accepted the name. Can someone PM me the text for what happens if you ask him what he wants?

EDIT: It is done. Thank you, Spacemarine.

For the curious, how many brilliant souls will selling one thousand souls (I’m a horrid monster of a man) directly to hell net me? I intend to replace my gas lamps with them.

Well… farm up 1000 souls and find out. Part of the thrill in fate-locked content, IMO, is that you can’t just easily have all the answers at your fingertips. I’d wager it’d be a fair amount though. More than 20. Most likely not more than 25

It’s a decent amount, and it beats converting Souls to Sherry, to Brilliant Souls.

Personally, I’d stick with selling the souls for Brass.

I’ve only recently become involved in the soul trade despite being a high level character, are there many chances to use the spirifer’s fork for POSI or have I missed most of the opportunities. The only thing I can remember that I can still use it for is the Regretful Soldier’s story and… there are limits to how heartless my character is.
