In honor of the upcoming anniversary, Hannah Failbetter has been teasing us on the Discord with assorted trivia about Fallen London’s players! So far we’ve learned that, across the city, there are presently:
133 Hesperidean Ciders[/li][li]33 Heptagoats[/li][li]298 million Rats on a String[/li][li]1,228 Peculiar Personal Enhancement procedures undergone[/li][li]1,200 players buried alive annually[/li][li]Almost 700 players up NORTH[/li][li]The most popular social action is nightmares reduction[/li][li]The most popular ambition is Light Fingers, by a slim margin
If you have specific questions, there’s an AMA on Reddit this Saturday that could sate your curiosity… edited by Optimatum on 1/10/2020

So surprised and glad so many player decided to use the Peculiar Enhancement option! I see this more as a proof of appreciation to FBG rather than the min-maxing component it offers.
Maybe it’s too late, but maybe it’s not. What do you mean with players buried alive? edited by Skinnyman on 1/9/2020

I was thinking about this, but wasn’t sure. Taking into account what Optimatum said about this ambition, we can easily consider 34% of the players take this ambition. This means there are around 3500 new players every year. Looooveeeely!!! :D

Oh, many, many more than that! Maybe useful to know that there are over a million registered accounts. :D

There are also a handful short of 700 characters who have gone North.

Only gone North or gone NORTH and never seen again?
I reduce scandal either via the God’s Editors-opportunity card or the church/hell (siding with the church) and church/bohemians (siding with bohemians, though one option reduces nightmares instead) conflict cards. Although scandal was my biggest problemm too when I still used my favours. edited by NNNnobody on 1/10/2020

Holy crap, out of 1 million total accounts, only 33 of us have ever gotten a heptagoat. Well. Now it feels like a much bigger deal than it did before.
I wonder how many have Noman tattoos. edited by Toran on 1/10/2020
If the 298 million rats were exchanged for the bounty at the Department of Menace Eradication, the resulting 327.8 million pieces of rostygold could be used to purchase over 2,0000 firkins of Hesperidean cider. Come, brothers and sisters and siblings of mysterious and indistinct gender, let us rise to immortality on a pile of furry corpses!
Inquiring minds also want to know what proportion of said multitudes of rats have been mailed to Failbetter staffers as Ratmas gifts.
Re: scandal reduction. Your Aunt can be useful for that if you didn’t go another route with her (most prefer the occasional deck refresh but the scandal reduction is pretty helpful). If it gets out of hand for me Meditations on the Anchoress in Ladybones is my go-to; it is expensive at 3 actions per 3cp reduction each but the EPA is reasonably tolerable.
True, but when I have 7 scandal, 0 nightmares, 1 wounds, and 1 suspicion, it feels wasteful to spend 40 echos to set them all to 0.
My Church renown is at 39 right now. I just need one more favor to get to 40, then I’ll start using God’s Editors.
Part of the problem is that I didn’t realize until recently just how much scandal you get from shaking hands with a Rubbery Man on their faction card. 3 CP is a lot. I have quite enough amber, thank you.
