The pounds are just flying in! Gone from four grand to over sixteen in three minutes. Yay!
And it’s fully funded with 334 backers.
Smashed that goal in 11 minutes.
I was expecting few hours and I was dumbstruck when I saw it was already funded!
Great work FBG & Magpie Games!
EDIT: Well, considering the progress, I will change my attitude towards requesting/asking for things. I know the speed of this will tone down a little, but this is already a great KS campaign. Are there any chances that the browser game additions will be included in future stretch goals?
I just want to say I love my new bird. He is my spirit animal. We are best friends. How have I survived in the Neath without a companion who is as much of a thief and hoarder as I am.
Very cute and I love that you can upgrade the little darling :)
That’s an astonishingly good upgrade! I’d have been perfectly fine with the basic magpie (although now I want the base magpie as well!).
Didn’t realize we were chatting in a different thread.
Good point, good point! Let’s see what peaks this climbs in 10-12 hours.
I wonder what other NPCs will be added. If we’re going through the mayors, the Viscountess, the Contrarian, and Feducci could be next. I could also see a member of the Calendar Council like January showing up. Maybe the Bishop?
Closing in to 450k $, that’s what happens after 12 hours!
777,777 $ is something plausible now.
454K now and rising. FBG, did you have any idea it would be so successful?
You never know for sure, but we did have an inkling that this one would be quite a high earner (when you consider that the average pledges for TTRPG Kickstarters are usually much higher than video game ones, because of the immovable costs of physical objects). It’s a bit wild to have raised this much so quickly though! There are currently more people backing for the Master tier than the strictly digital one, which you have to assume will trade places eventually. Right? Right??
I looked at the various tiers last night, when it was around the 250 grand mark, and was surprised to see them very close in numbers. Usually (I back books as well as (mainly video) games) the digital tier way outstrips all the others. It’s fascinating. I wonder where this will top out.
The new character options tier includes the Hinterlands; I suppose this is probably a pre-Railway version, with no Tracklayers’ City, but there’s certainly plenty to play with in the locations along the way. Evenlode, Ealing Gardens, Jericho, Balmoral… and playing someone from the Khanate could also be very interesting.
While I am very happy about my new bird companion, it could not have come at a worse time as I just recently obtained The ministry of enigmas. If I knew I was gonna get a slightly better shadowy companion for a lot less grinding, I would’ve went for the ministry of war instead! Looks like we’ve already raised a lot for the kickstarter, might support it myself :)
I wonder how many stretch goals were planned in advance and if any of them had to be made in the couple days since the kickstarter started.
Thanks for relaying that!
The accepted wisdom for a Kickstarter is to spend a lot of time developing stretch goals in advance so you have a big list of things that are attractive and viable, and then to not reveal a big list of them all at once because it’s more exciting to do it little by little (plus then you might see which way the wind is blowing and try to change the order or target a bit, so things end neatly). Doing a Kickstarter really is a merry show! Hahahah
The browser game has already been gifted with additional content thanks to the Kickstarter campaign, surely it wouldn’t be unreasonable to propose that Failbetter should consider adding the Pirate-Poet to the list of marriageable NPCs.
