Estivals in the Waswood until the 17th of Aug

London has had a poor track record with summers. This year, people are ready. They lay in extra supplies. Emergency blunderbusses are unsafed. Several revolutionaries are witnessed wearing Masters’ robes, ‘just in case hierarchy goes squiffy again’.

London is prepared for any conceivable disaster. And nothing happens.

It’s going to be a quiet summer in Fallen London; the first in a long time. At this time of year, some disruptive event typically hits the Neath, requiring citizens to band together and restore (relative) peace and quiet. However, this year we need a break from this most intensive of events to devote some extra time and attention to Mandrake.

But! Even a quiet summer can distract and delight. This year, we’re putting on a bonanza of previous Estivals in the Waswood, starting today, the 27th of July, and running until Monday the 17th of August.

All previous Estivals are available to replay without the usual timing restrictions, and we’re granting all characters – regardless of how far they have progressed through the game – access to the Waswood for the duration.

Reliving past Estivals will help unlock various goodies and rewards for all players. You’ll also gain Estival Tokens as usual, and be able to spend them on items of equipment from previous years. There are even a handful of new items to collect!

The debut of ‘Hell is Missing!’

As part of the festivities, we’ve just made Hell is Missing available in the Waswood for the first time. Last year’s law-bending, clue-hunting festival has a somewhat different shape in memory, but if you missed it at the time, this is the closest you’ll get.

After the 17th of August, the Waswood schedule will go back to normal, slightly adjusted to add Hell is Missing to the rotation.

“Could a Peaceful Summer Lead to Moral Decline?”

Let’s see, shall we?

As the owner of the Winged and Taloned Steed, formerly Mr. Veils, I regularly terrorise London at least once every week. In lieu of an external crisis, I guess I’m the de facto disruptive event this Estival.

(And in a more subtle but no less terrifying way, my Society of the Three-Fingered Hand and Long-Dead Priest-wielding brethren)

How do I exit the excavation? I am currently “Beneath Parabolan Street”. I do have the option to “Emerge from the excavation”, but this brings me to a screen where my only option is to go back to the excavation again (and both steps cost an action point).

I don’t generally purchase headers, but those are some nice looking headers. Also cool to see there’s still a community participation element, which it seems includes more tokens?

Main has done every previous Estival, so that means no need to relive anything?

Alt only did ‘Hell is Missing’ so that means all previous Estivals can be done now.

I vaguely remember the Great Sinking event was a bit messy… checking the wiki might help a bit.

In the Grand Clearing Out redo? I think I emerged from the excavation and went back in and excavated a bit more and then a new option appeared that let me continue-- maybe there’s a hidden quality or count being tracked.

You get a new title if you redo at least five, and there are items exclusive to the Waswood iteration I believe.

To be clear - do you mean the normal, available year round (Sacrobascan Calendar permitting) items like A Reverie of Heroism or Strange Aeronaut, or are there new items in each one, added for this event?

Also, fishandchips, the other reason to go through them is to build up the global Nostalgia quality, which we will be able to exchange for stuff.

I meant the normal, available year-round items, yes. Which you couldn’t get from the “normal” versions of the Estivals.

I’ve done all these, so if there’s nothing new I’m not doing them again, but I hope new players enjoy them!

I believe that there are qualities for each waswood flashback you do during Estival 2026, and a unique item received as a reward for getting all qualities. I don’t know what the unique item is yet, but it could be worth doing them all, even if you did the original versions before.

My mistake. It looks like the reward is a unique title, not a unique item.

Quick question: will all Estivals be available in Waswood in future depending on the week they are offered?

I remember dabbling with the Great Sinking in Waswood with my alt some time ago, but lacked resources to make the Parabolan Device, so I thought to go back and try again in future when I’m ready.

So, the main purpose of playing through all the Estivals this year is to get the completion achievement, and buy stuff with the Estival tokens. And get the rewards/achievements specific to each Estival if you hadn’t got them already. Am I right?

I think you have it right. Hell Is Missing will be added to the rotation after the event. Right now the Waswood recollections are the same as those normally available, but not restricted by the Sacroboscan Calendar. As far as we’ve determined so far, doing all the recollections during the event unlocks a title but no other event specific rewards have been found (Estival tokens aren’t connected to the recollections).

It says the World Quality built up by people playing through the Waswood Estivals will be unlocking rewards for all players, but it’s not clear if that means for all players of this event or all players of the game whether or not they participate, so I’d say that’s a maybe on event-specific rewards.

I’ve not played the Estivals yet and I can already claim the Pulsating Amber, for what it’s worth.

Everyone gets 30 Estival Tokens for free, more can be bought with Fate. Are there any other ways to get tokens? I feel like I saw somewhere that progressing stories or something gives 20 more tokens, but I’m not sure.

Hiya, there are thirty for free, and this year twenty can be unlocked for everyone through a community contribution track. More can be bought with Fate.

So what’s everyone buying with the Estival tokens this year? Which is the more popular choice? I presume most will go for an item which costs 50 tokens.

Does anyone know how the rewards differ between the original “Hell is Missing” Estival event and the current version newly available in the Waswood?

I participated in the original version with my old main (who has since ventured NORTH) and am currently playing a new character with a new ambition.

I completed the new Waswood version last night and gained A Ragtag Gang of Outlaws, An Urchin with a Fondness for Cowls and Capes, and A Dream of Law Glass. Did I miss anything?

p.s. If you are planning to do a run through the Waswood version of Hell is Missing, and want to prepare in advance, I believe that you’ll need a Baited Riddle and an Oneiric Pearl to exchange for An Urchin with a Fondness for Cowls and Capes.
