Estivals in the Waswood until the 17th of Aug

Yes, there are a lot of hidden prerequisites to get first to have the most ‘optimal’ experience in the Estivals. Examples: having a T8 item to make the Parabolan Device in the Great Sinking, getting acquainted with the Amused Lordship to unlock an option in the Starved War/Museum incident. There are definitely others.

If all the previous Estivals are made available in Waswood, then it really doesn’t matter, though you might need to waste actions to redo it in future.

Those 3 were all in the original event. I didn’t find anything new for the Waswood version on my go-around.

Be sure to check this great Wiki guide for items: Estival (Guide)/Item Comparison - Fallen London Wiki.

I don’t think A Dream of Law-Glass was in the original event. I think that this is a slightly inferior replacement for A Shard of Law-Glass that was available in the original event. If there’s a way to get the original version of A Shard of Law-Glass in the Waswood version of Hell is Missing, I’d like to know about it.

Oh you’re right, my mistake.

Think nothing of it. I still appreciate the response.

I’m currently replaying the Prelapsarian Museum for the very first time. That was Estival 2022 and I remember almost nothing from it. It’s like playing a brand new story :joy:

The Invitation to Linger text this week is interesting…

No way I’m breaking mine open but it does present us with an interesting question: what constitutes a fortune in Fallen London? 160,000 Echoes? More?

Calling it now: something is going to happen once enough players have put enough pennies in their piggies.

7,777,777 echoes and 77 pennies

Currently seems like ‘a small fortune’ = 400 echos. Perhaps there is a jackpot hidden in one of the pigs?

The Coilheart Games were amazing. This story deserves a Hugo award or whatever the equivalent is for interactive fiction. The voice and image of the seventh coil will forever haunt my nightmares.

This can no longer be obtained from the Waswood version of the Sixth Coil. Other rewards can still be obtained.

I remember when the Sixth Coil was a live Estival, to get Huffam’s Personal Blend you had to travel to different places to get clues before submitting them. This is no longer part of the Waswood version of the Sixth Coil.

Myes, this has been documented in the guide for some time now.

Reading the Starved War again, it’s astonishing how quick London was to accept the Starved Men right after a war. They were literally tearing up the city and preparing to bring sunlight upon it (I don’t think most Londoners were aware of the nuances of Starved society being in disagreement about the big eye). Right after that, there’s a peaceful embassy that does not end with some rubbery person being lured into an alley and knifed apart. Remember when you could do that regularly in old Fallen London?

My conclusion is that Londoners are like Orks in 40K, even if they may hate you on an individual or even factional level the quickest way to befriend London is to beat it’s ass in a fight. It’s historically consistent! The Devils crushed London and forced it to let them build their embassy in the city. Devils are now accepted members of society. Lorn-Flukes, often encountered as naval hazards, have a working relationship with several isolated communities-most notably Mutton Island and the Fathomking’s court. The Clay Men are generally big and tough in a fight. There has generally been a lot less Londoner on Clay Man violence. Even the Vake had fans devoted enough to persist after it’s demise.

The mistake that the Flukes made wasn’t making the Rubbery Men insufficiently human in semblance and action. It was making the Rubbery Men insufficiently violent to be recognised as human in spirit.

I missed something Earlier. I did get an Elephant That Has Yet to be Refuted. It just went by so fast with no buildup that I didn’t realize that I’d gotten it.

So, I think you can get 3/5 of the original items from Hell is Missing.
Item 4 has a slightly inferior substitute (A Dream of Law Glass)

I didn’t get item 5: The Founding Principles of an Infernal Enclave. Is it possible to get this in the waswood version of Hell is Missing, or has this item been retired without a replacement?

The Waswood variants of Estival are a bit ‘watered down’ of how they were when they were first live. Waswood Estival = more streamlined, less convoluted. And because the content is not new, you are less bewildered, even if you play through it for the first time.

I still have nightmares of Estival 2025 - Hell is Missing.

Finding the exact location of that Hell embassy.

The confusing weather patterns.

Grind of hunting laws.

Knowing the exact number of Blunderbusses to fire.

Hunting clues from many places then eating the cake. FBG had to patch things up a little as many players had accidentally missed the reward.

Dipping your toes carefully into the Brass Embassy furnace, so you can grab that reward and not get sent to the unholy trifecta of menace jails.
