PSA for those interested: it is, in fact, possible to re-obtain Scathless after you get the Law-Glass Shard; unsurprisingly, it gets later removed along with the Running from Death and Overpowering Sense of Déjà Vu when you fix causality. Ah well, I’d hoped to use it during the fight against the Goat Demons in the finale.

I enjoyed this one, because the novel of the same name (the bolded word under the blur) is one of my favorites (though it has nothing whatever to do with Fallen London… though now that I think about it, maybe it-- or the universe it’s set in-- could…)
Here I shall describe my harrowing tale of obtaining the vanity (Scathless, then Unscarred by Law) and the Shard of Law-Glass inside the furnace.
Law hunting deliberate fails (equipped Woesel) to raise Scandal and Nightmares to the brink (7 and 3 or 4 CP). Lecture at Forgotten Quarters to raise Suspicion to 7 and 3 or 4 CP. Brawling at the docks to raise Wounds to 5.
Created an alt, sent him a dupe suspicion-lowering request. I was determined to remain a prison virgin… tutorial, Brass Embassy robbery and one other time (event?) didn’t count. No criminal record for me.
The moment of truth at the furnace… the horsehead amulet triggered.
Tried again… one piece of Suspicion-lowering equipment raised my Suspicion to 7 and 7CP… 1CP to 8!!!
Getting out of Mirror Marches and Tomb Colonies.
Repeated step #1 again, but Wounds is 4 and the others are 7 and at least 5 or 6 CP.
Furnace again to Cheat Death. Suspicion, Scandal and Nightmares all hit 8+.
Use my alt to lower Suspicion on my main character.
Getting out of Mirror Marches and Tomb Colonies, again. My Suspicion at this time was 7 and 6CP… one of the cards/options in those places raised my Suspicion by +1CP!!! Thankfully, Time the Healer came later, lowered it a little bit. I was paranoid and had to check the wiki meticulously to make sure the options I picked had no nasty surprises.
Once out of Scandal+Nightmares jails, the first thing I did was to go to Spite and lowered my Suspicion a little bit.
Finally, into the furnace to collect my treasure and vanity.
I’m trying to Conclude the Case of the Sacred Twelve but my Embroiled in the Affair of the Sacred Twelve is at 70, I believe, and I’m struggling to figure out how to get it lower.
With 5 investigation you can do the other severed twelve storylet there and that sets it to a random value. So you may need to do that once or a couple of times depending on your luck. (If you have puzzle damask you can use it in your inventory to raise investigation with a severed twelve specific option)
Quick question for verification: when is the absolute final day for concluding Estival? You go to Parabola, do the final part, and the event ends? Do we have one more week?
I want to hunt more laws.

I stayed on this very screen, signed out, switched to a newly made alt to help lower suspicion to 7 (I sent dupe help request earlier before entering the furnace).
Then switched back to main character, carried on with Nightmares and Scandal jails but didn’t get arrested or enter prison.
Might be a silly question, but did anyone save the text after you pull the Captain out of the furnace? I forgot to save it and I’ve found myself needing to refer to it.
The event ends on September 1. I believe noon London time, so if you’re in the Western Hemisphere that functionally means August 31.
Is it specifically you doing the pulling you want? I let the Bishop do it, but in case that’s still useful, here’s my journal entry.
ETA: I just remembered, someone upthread posted the one with them doing it, at my request. I can’t remember who, though, sorry!

I was trying to progress the Estival with my recently created alt.
‘A Confounded Causality’ and ‘A Disruption to the Order of Time’ are 75.
‘A Reorganisation of Space’ and ‘A Twisted Ontology’ are 25.
I know I need to raise the last two to 75 to advance the story, but I’m not sure if it’s too late now or if there’s something I’ve overlooked.
The wiki stated that I need to hunt each law type at least once to progress the story, I’m quite sure I did that.
London, Askance is 60, I offered to help the Bishop.

Funny story: I needed 150 Map scraps to skip the clues of that spatial maze, but the newbie character didn’t have any Map scraps, and they are very hard to get. So I robbed a drunk officer at Spite (Airs of London need to be 50 or higher) until I got enough Map scraps.
So many things advanced characters take from granted are a genuine slog for new characters.
I finished the event already so I’m going off memory. But aren’t you trying to lower the values, not raise them? I think the values at 25 are progressed, and you need to work on the values at 75.
Totally agree about taking things for granted.
If you did that, ‘A Confounded Causality’ and ‘A Disruption to the Order of Time’ should be at 50.
Hunting a Temporal (for Order of Time) and a Causal (for Confounded Causality) Law should open the next parts. Otherwise you might have got stuck in an edge case.
I was lucky enough to do it with my baby character when either Mortifications or Night Whispers could be sold at the Rat Market. Grinding those on laws and buying from the Rat Market was the fastest way I found.

Law Forging and Law Hunting now return to Fallen London. Laws can be forged from Moloch Street, provided you are in possession of a Hellish Hymn. Laws can be hunted from a new location, reached from Marigold.
Oh thank goodness, not only can we hunt laws but also visit the Enclave. I just feel it’s really important, story-wise, that it’s possible even if in practice I may or may not actually do it that often.
