Where do you find this new treasure hunt?

Visit Port Cecil and play chess to start the story. The new reason to find long boxes is part of the treasure hunt.
By the way has anyone managed to find a Monster’s Tooth? I’ve been to every port and I haven’t found it yet.
The required item is Stygian Ivory… which doesn’t seem to have any acquisition method at all. Several places buy it, but nothing seems to sell it and no storylets provide it.
Thank you.
Edit to add back to regular play until the next update then. Just hope that one of the new islands when Steel is launched provides it.

Stygian Ivory is one possibility: there is another (though I think only since the follow-up update).
Huh, well, I have all stories up to date and Stygian Ivory is definitely the only thing that’ll meet that requirement. Unless that follow-up update isn’t actually out, but your phrasing sounds like it is. I dunno!! But at least there’s a solution in an update eventually.

Nope. There’s another reason. Go to Station III. Looks like the smith is ready to trade.
I haven’t had another update since this quest started but if there is an alternative source for a Monster’s Tooth I’ll keep looking. But if it has anything like the criteria for getting Gant I will wait until Stygian Ivory is available somewhere.
Killed my first lorn fluke. Got totally lucky, it just spammed seeking.
Anyone found a source for Stygian Ivory yet? How do we know thats what it is? I mean I believe you guys, and it makes sense given the descripition, but how do we know for sure?
Is there any way to sell Unclear Devices? I got lucky and ended up with three of them. I can see keeping one around for emergencies, but right now they’re cluttering my hold but it feels wasteful to dump em overboard.
I don’t know how Spacemarine got the idea that Stygian Ivory was the item but Alexis confirmed it so it must be true.
I haven’t seen anywhere that buys Unclear Devices and they are the first thing I dump if my hold gets too full.
There was another update and I have completed the Principles story, still not sure if I made the right decision maybe I’ll choose the other ending in another game.
I haven’t been able to get out of London since the update. As soon as I launch from FL my Campaigner falls over. I’ve tried resetting a bunch of times, but the story fires too quickly to get anywhere. I don’t have any of the required items. Does this mean I have to just let her die if I want to keep this captain? :(

Dredged it up from the files where all the words live. It’s pretty easy when you know what you’re looking for but otherwise it’s a huge mess from hell.
The Campaigner’s condition is based on Time the Healer (more like time the killer eh? eh???); if it’s higher than 400 then there’s absolutely nothing you can do for her. Higher than 300 and you’ll need a lot of Mutersalt to keep her from dying, which you can’t easily get if you’re in London. So if you’ve got a longrunning save you may just have to let her go.
Stygian Ivory update: just obtained the first piece I have ever seen, from an Albino Moray corpse.
Also: Alexis is correct, a very recent update means that there’s a second - trivial, really - option for that component of the Nacreous treasure hunt.
I was just coming to say that I found the source of Stygian Ivory but got beaten to it:)
By the way I started another game earlier - any one know how to deal with the suspicion you get when you accept the supplies from the Blind Bruiser? Either I have a bug (reported) or it prevents you from getting the Harbourmaster’s messages which means I can’t recruit officers.

Interesting final choice to complete the chess storyline. I think it’s worth noting that if you opt to go with the option that, as you might expect, pays out in Scintillack, don’t do so until you have a BIG boat with a LOT of empty hold space…
Finished up the outcast storyline. I feel guilty about the the choice I took, but the rewards were just too nice. Do only complete that way if you have 70 hold space to spare.
Have people gone through the Station 3 story? What possible outcomes have you gotten?
I think at this point I’m down to waiting for the RNG to spit me out the options I need in Venderblight, so I can do the other stories.
Looks like I took the right decision with the Outcast, I didn’t have that much free hold space and I came to like him on our travels.
Alciabides - I haven’t finished the Station 3 story on any of my recent games, I find the things you can get too tempting to close it off.
