I need to draw the Great Game’s connection card, so that I can sell them the location of the Nadir, so that I can obtain the location of an exiled prince of Hell, so that I can purchase my final 5 card lodging. I don’t really need the Sanctum, but for completion’s sake, I want it.
I’ve been thinning out my deck, and I got the card last week.
But I reflexively discarded it.
It’s been a week of nearly continuous drawing, and I’ve yet to redraw it.

Not sure what your Taste of Lacre situation is, but you have a couple of weeks to acquire the Sanctum without requiring the Location of a One-Time Prince. Get yourself down to Penstock’s Wicket with Notability 3, Putting the Pieces Together: the Taste of Lacre 8 and Your Very Own Infernal Contract (i.e. having sold your soul) and it’s yours!
Ultimately you may need to repost this in the Good Fortune thread, as (hopefully) it’ll save you a lot of cash!

I would have used Penstock’s Wicket to obtain my Sanctum, but it requires me to sell my soul, and I’m morally opposed to that.
I finally got my Orphanage to 15 and ready for a Prodigy!
Of course the Tower of Eyes card immediately decides it is time for a vacation and have me draw all sorts of infrequent cards while failing to draw the FREQUENT one I need.
I spent all 3 points of Notability acquiring a 5-card lodgings with my ToL … which brought me to 0 Notability. In the week since, I have yet to redraw the card to convert my Making Waves into Notability. Lots of social actions and other cards which have given me Making Waves, but without the ability to cash in, all these MW points are making me sad.
Zailing is a ridiculously difficult endeavor, in my opinion, or one in which a person must be ridiculously patient. Without good cards and almost all successes, it feels that it’s impossible to get anywhere, as Troubled Waters raises too fast. Part of it is that I also clicked on the Autofire card that erases a TON of “Approaching Journey’s End” in exchange for getting rid of all the “Troubled Waters”. Not a bad deal, I guess, but I’m really, really angry that I’m stuck now.
And I have to do this twice. AT LEAST TWICE. PROBABLY MORE.
Zailing does get easier with practice. If you get a five-card lodging, get your stats high enough for the skill-test cards, and use the ‘Steam Boldly / Extrapolate from the charts’ option when you’re out of cards to play, you should be able to get to where you need to go without ever seeing troubled water 11. After a few successful crossings, the ‘experienced zailor’ card will really help as well.
When I was attempting to catch a plated seal, I had real problems getting troubled waters high enough before reaching my destination. It was embarrassing.
Yeah, now that I’ve calmed down from my first oopsie, I’m a bit more reasonable about it. Troubled Waters has to hit eleven, but Approaching Journey’s End only has to hit nine. My skills are not high enough to easily pass the challenges and I can’t bank enough because I only have a three-card lodgings, but even so, most of the cards, with second chances or if I get lucky on the luck checks, provide a reasonable “Approaching Journey’s End” to “Troubled Waters” ratio. My biggest mistake was deciding to simply Steam Prudently towards my goal, thinking that would get me there. Used a ton of my actions on it, like an idiot.
Still, I’ll get there. And hopefully I’ll be able to re-establish my academic reputation before the Feast of the Exceptional Rose comes around.
It took me THREE TRIES to find the first piece of the Screaming Map, because I kept failing the “Pretty Good Odds” luck check 3+ times out of the 5 times I tried it.
Hah, I don’t quite know to which thread this belongs. I just picked an option that I knew would erase all my Connected:Masters because thats what Mr Lamperouge would do IC. It was previously at Level 5 (almost at level 6!). Siiiiiiiigh.
On the bright side, that pesky “Revel Of The Masters” story chain will be out of my opportunity deck for just a little while yet.
It’s been three days since I’ve finished the “Solving Cases Around London” storyline, and yet I’m still waiting to draw a Frequent Frequency card. All I want is Flute Street!
I have now mis-clicked three separate times on various Opportunity cards, causing myself to repeatedly disassociate myself from a group to which I was previously “Closest.” sigh Interestingly, I was “Closest” to two of those groups only because I mis-clicked on earlier Opportunities from the same card. I’m currently “Closest” to the Church for the exact same reason, even though the Church actually makes my skin crawl. :)
My alt spent quite a few thousand rostygolds getting himself well-liked in the underworld, with the goal of acquiring a gang of hoodlums. Then I accidentally clicked the wrong option and gave up. At least he’s a rat-catcher, so getting enough rostygold again was just a matter of waiting a few weeks and concentrating on one of the many other grinds that await a new PoSI in the meantime.
I tried to send my friend some fate but accidentally misclicked and instead reset my house of chimes entry selection at the cost of 30 nex (ouch). Worse, I was a Scarlet Saint who had since nuked my church and hell connections. I had to grind both connections back to level 75 each (but luckily I still had my opposed greater-than-cap quirks). But I did it. Man that was a costly mistake. Never doing that again aaaa.
Forgot I needed overcapped watchful to grind my last point of SotC, so I ended up spending my mood to get up to 299 watchful.
Then I forgot to buy Favorable Circumstances with my notability before cashing the rest of it in, and now I need to wait for the Amanuensis which is just embarrassing.
