Just now: Paying 10 Nex to refresh my actions (unusual for me, since I have to conserve what Nex I can afford) so I can make it the rest of the way to Notability 6 before Time the Healer hits…
…just precisely before Time the Healer hits, exactly one hour early, for no apparent reason.
Right now I’m going into Flute Street repeatedly to collect Rubbery Hounds for the Bishop, and attempting to get every result recorded (success and fail). It’s been 5 days, and so far I’ve yet to fail the Fungus and Pious Wrath combo. Darn it game, let me lose!
I spent a great many actions zailing, intent on finally exploring Polythreme and in particular the storyline for which owning an Exceptional Hat is advisable. Only upon arriving did I realize that I’d forgotten to procure the Hat, causing an even greater quantity of actions to be wasted in returning to London so as to access the Bazaar, and then to make the voyage once again.
Really? The Bazaar tab showed "The Bazaar is out of bounds at the moment" when I tried it. Naturally the first thing I did upon realizing I’d forgotten the Hat was to try to buy one there.
If I did err, that can be my failure instead; I’m now halfway back to Polythreme.
Edit: Back in Polythreme at long last and can confirm the Bazaar is indeed out of bounds. edited by Matthias Scathelocke on 11/16/2014
If you’re looking to change your Fate, you can probably do that at Christmas time as well.
But at least you got the card. I’ve been flipping in the side streets for about 6 months with nothing to show for it.
My alt failed a low-risk Dangerous check, and failed to protect the Functionary from his enemies… I try to play her as heartless, but that still stung.
I lost two Very Infrequent cards today; failed to become a Correspondent even with a second chance, and then spent a bunch of actions to get 5000 bottles of the '79, and when I clicked on the Presumptuous Little Opportunity it just vanished.
Despite playing for a long time, I’ve missed all feasts of roses and Christmas content…
Mutton island has ended when I was about to cash in the highest value.
I guess seasonal content hates me edited by Uruloki on 11/23/2014
Trying to advance my alt from Murderer to Licentiate I’ve just failed the 28% high-risk challenge seventeen times in a row! Each time using a second chance of course. I think that was the longest series of failures at a single challenge I’ve ever had. The eighteenth try was finally successful… edited by Rupho Schartenhauer on 12/5/2014
Misclick on grinding Affair of the Box (end up in a bit of a blur after first misclick result in me getting a point in turncoat), now end up meeting Mr Stones instead…crap. I was going to wait out until I’m ready to decide on how to continue the story (but I lean heavily on publishing the whole ordeal in the newspaper)…not sure what to do now. edited by onyhow on 12/12/2014
So yeah. After deciding that probably my key RP decision for the game was that I was never going to sell my Soul, I clicked the top option on the Western Tower card (expecting it to be the learn about the soulless Scrap thing) and didn’t realise it had changed. My soul’s gone, and all I got out of it was a lousy Night-Whisper and some Storm Threnodies.
Anyway, as I’ve said elsewhere; RP-wise I’m assuming my character was conned by a opportunistic devil while distracted. I expect they asked for my autograph (that happens to me a lot) and I didn’t check what I was signing carefully enough. Dangerous to visit the Brass Embassy without one’s wits fully about onesself - a valuable lesson learned.
“Throw the Amanuensis out on his oily ear” is definitely one of those options that I wish had an “Are You Sure” popup when you click it, especially when you’re at 15 Notability.
It seems these past 24 hours have been full of bad decisions. Yesterday drew the first mood card I’ve seen in a very long time (hurray!) which resulted in me spending my notability on an unsigned letter. I have lots of BDR but until I get that first point I can’t upgrade my lodgings at the wicket (boo).
So I figured I could at least make a Noman now that the wicket’s open (hurray) and I realized right after clicking the button that Time the Healer visits me this afternoon (doe). I hope the RNG looks kindly on me in the coming days because it seems I’m not doing myself any favours.
Robbing the Bazaar with 19 Casing, only a low chance of failure. Annnnd I failed, the only consolation being that it didn’t immediately send me away.
Trying to go for a deathless run - ooh, shiny mirror - SPLAT. At least some roleplaying can be mined out of it: "You have escaped countless assassinations on your behalf and caught the masters on a good day yet all it took was failing to read a simple sign."
