personally i prefer spending echos rather than grinding with actions. my personal time/actions are more valuable to me than virtual money. but thank you, didn’t realised the contraption has increased that much in sidestreet prices!
While it’s not exactly as immense as other failures in this topic… I’d have to say being rash and just kicking the idol off into oblivion instead of waiting until I had progressed further in storylines. …I honestly would’ve liked to see what even happens when the Starveling Cat comes into play. Or the one option pertaining towards the Dilmun Club storyline. …Or the Fire Sermon option, for that matter, even if I’m not as interested in that dream storyline.
Ah well, that’s life, I s’pose. (Life and like 300 wasted candle stubs, but those are nothing.)

Accidentally hit my laptop’s touchpad at just the wrong moment and sold the location of the Cave of the Nadir to Urchins. Curses! I had intended to clutch that secret to my breast for all time. I guess I’ll just have to RP the thing, now, but the wind has been taken out of my sails a bit.
A surprising number of people have accidentally sold the location to one group or another. I know I’m trying to learn from the mistakes of others and not do that. It’d be nice of FBG to add a double-check for that particular action, as it is significant and irreversible. Either that or just have a fate option to buy the secret back.
That would either have a very high nex cost or have you return the item alongside a mediocre nex cost, but I don’t see why not. You have a quality that tracks who you’ve given it to, after all =) Perhaps on the connection cards?
Yeah, I would be happy to return the Demark with a token Nex cost, just to erase the quality.
An "are you sure?" branch would be much appreciated, as well.
A pretty mild one; “Perhaps Not”-ing out of my first Slowcake’s Amaneusis card because I wanted to raise some cash to buy my first entry, without realizing that would make the card go away if I’d already selected the 0-action option…
ack. followed the polythreme guide, but still failed to get enough investigating on the first round, also wasted a small fortune in silks and collated research. awfully unlucky. failed 3 or 4 "pretty good odds" cards. ended up with only 9 investigating.
2nd round, had way better luck, and got 13 investigating, then chose the reward that inserted shadowy challenge cards into the deck.
3rd round, bad luck again, my shadowy is only high enough to get 68% success on the shadowy card and failed one of them, also failed 2 "pretty good odds" cards. looks like i’ll end up with only 11 investigating. awful awful awful! at least this round i didn’t grind for any silks, and i have no more collated research to spend anyway. still an awful waste of actions. with my awful luck, i think i might need at least week to kill jack, "enrich" my exceptional hat, and attract a clothes colony… if i log in everyday.

This isn’t really painful, but it deserves mentioning:
A Surprise Package from the Notability card yielded a single (1) Surface-Silk Scrap, worth a grand 0.10 Echoes.

A misclick on the Notability card just raised my max Shadowy–which, of course, will flatten itself like a sad souffle every time I visit the Nadir over the next few months. sigh This is what I get for playing before my morning tea. I miss my Notability.
As for me, I became aware of my biggest mistake quite recently actually. It was in February, I did that Clathermont storylet that gave you the opportunity to get a tattoo… But I couldn’t decide which one I wanted, and I thought since I had completed the “quest” that card would stay around… Indeed, at the same time I finally got my boat, and I was so excited to sail that I visited every land I had access to, completely forgetting about the Tattoo’s Parlour. Of course, when I came back, it was gone, but I didn’t notice it first. Then I got this sudden realisation a couple of months later… and I felt really, really stupid…
i tried to rob the brass embassy with a 90 percent chance of success and i failed i FAILED A LOW RISK CHALLENGE and i went to prison as well as lost a whole 32 levels of connected:hell it was my highest connections it took me MONTHS to slowly gain it back and the worst part is that i remember having 1 action left and thought either raise your casing quality or go for it i mean what are the chances ughhhhhhhhhhh and i didn’t become a master thief [li]

not exactly a failure, but i realised my main has gone too far into the Affair Of The Box, and can no longer publish a newspaper headline about it. bugger my progress!
Publishing a newspaper about that affair is actually the last thing you do in the storyline if you pick the right option. Assisting either Master will lock you out from doing it.
i decided to look for mister fires long before i acquired my newspaper, and that choice locked me out according to the wikia…
spoilers ,obviously .see below.

Yes, exactly. It was a three branch choice, each leading to a separate ending. On the bright side you do have the ability to restart the storyline if you spend some Fate.
Due to a spot of carelessness, I seem to have mislaid my soul. During my efforts to get it back (or at least a close facsimile thereof), I gained a starveling cat.
I do not consider this an equitable exchange :-(

Alternatively, you get the ability to waste a bit of fate by mindlessly misclicking.
I had Strange Catch 7 and ended up with Picking through the Wrecker’s Cove 4. Four! And this is on a low-level alt so the effort in getting up to Strange Catch 7 was substantial.
Yeah, that’s happened to me five times running now - Strange Catch 9 or higher, Wreckers’ Cove <=6. Ah well :).
