Ugh… me and my stupid, stupid clicky fingers just chose the wrong option with Slowcake’s man even though I have done it right a hundred times before and now I lost 2 levels of notability in exchange for… well, not a d__n thing that was of any use. I think I may go cry a little now. sniffle
Dear RNG,
Plated Seals are hard to come by. As I am trying to collect all text and rewards associated with them, when you tell me “pretty good odds,” it would be really nice to not fail on four straight tests.
Love,
Trodgmey
I’ve never really showed this but I actually have an alternate account I use(not BattlePotato). This other account is supposed to be the polar opposite of my main one, one of the main differences being the alternate one supports the revolutionaries. However, when I was playing this morning I made a teeny… tiny… oopsy.
As I was half asleep as I logged onto BattlePotato I thought I was on my alt. As a result of this I sold the information of the cave of nadir to the revolutionaries. I was planning to keep this information to myself and I just… I really don’t know what possessed me to click that button.[li]

Commiserations - I did a similar thing. I clicked the wrong button because of tablet issues and suddenly found I’d sold out, having meant to keep the secret to myself! (Except I don’t even know who I sold the secret to, since I wasn’t paying attention, grr)

Arbar, if you haven’t changed it since then, you can find out who you sold it to by checking who you’re Closest To.
Thank you! And bother, I seem to be closest to the Great Game…guess they profited from my slip-up.

Oof. At least you were able to figure out you sold the info to the Great Game. Well, besides you figuring out that little bit of where you sold it to I can say something positive about the whole experience: I found the flavor text extremely interesting for betraying the revolutionaries. Aside from that, I can’t really say thwarting them once is really worth the shame of selling them something so valuable. oh, I’m going to remember this one for a while…
my alt went to the wrong tomb-colony to seek his nemesis. doh! i guess some sight-seeing and connections raising is in order.
Equal parts bad luck and out of game foolishness. I’d gotten a Mood card and was saving up actions and cards for maximum utility. I finally got 20 actions and 6 cards ready to go, plus the 4 in my hand, I clicked the mood, and then I had to stop playing and catch a bus. All those actions, the cards, that mood, wasted. It’s not like it was even a useful mood; I don’t really need to be more dangerous.
It’s not that extreme, but still a bit of a disappointment: after spending a good while raising my Attending To A Singular Plant quality when the cards came up, I’ve just managed to misclick and sell the thing. Oops.
Just finished a 40 supply expedition, including losing supplies fighting my opponent. Didn’t get a single ‘follow the sign’ to make things easier.
My reward was nominally worth 60 echoes, but could be easily converted to 125 echoes. Not wanting that option due to the aggravation of dealing with the things, I re-rolled. And got a storm threnody and 200 whispered secret, combined worth of 14.5 echoes.
Argh
Total epa: 0.22 (not counting fate expenditure)
I finally get a rare pet card… and clicked the wrong option. Especially painful, as I could really use that Watchful boost now.
Early in my days of FL when I was pursuing the Cheesmonger’s insane plan, I accidentally killed myself in an instant death failure challenge involving a Russian spymaster. Even worse, I had been unmarked until that point in my career in the Neath and I had misguidedly assumed death would not take me and I would not need cider to go to the surface if the need should take me. It had been a 98% straightforward challenge.
Even now with an entry in Slowcakes, I still wonder and speculate, and also fear; now that I have died I am tied to the Neath.
To this day, it has been my only death in Fallen London.
Yes, you are.
Buy Cider.
i am, or my character is, in all things, a firm supporter of the masters first and foremost, and i had connected: the masters 5. unfortunately in the battle of wolfstack docks i misclicked on my phone, turned traitor, and ended up losing all my connected: masters as well as feeling like i abandoned my character’s principles. i remember being horrified with myself. still haven’t gotten back past connected 3.
more recently: i accidentally sold all my first city coins because i forgot what a b-gger they were to obtain for Ambition: Heart’s Desire the first time around (i started the ambition, took a two-three year hiatus from the game, and returned having forgotten that i needed 77.) i’m since back at the required amount, but when the silver storylet popped up after i tabbed back from the bazaar and i realized how many actions i’d need to make reparations, i was definitely remorseful.
Yes, you are.
Buy Cider.[/quote]
interesting thought but from a roleplay POV, only my alt who has a nemesis ambition may want to return to the surface. my thieving(sp?) alt would prefer the dimlit neath. and my main… he/she doesn’t fear death?
"Your captain won’t look you in the eyes. "The Deconstruction," she whispers. "It took everything we had. It gave us this." She holds out a bundle of watchful mechanisms."
okay. not technically a failure, but the 5-action sunless sea related storylet sure hurt me bad in terms of echoes and actions lost. i spent ~70 echos to buy enough honey to get it up to 2000, and have to spend an additional 1000 pence to play that storylet. turns out suceeding in the persuasive challenge gets you the above text;your sponsored journey failed, and i all i got was a whirring contraption worth 6 echos.
that really doesn’t encourage me to buy the sunless sea unless i really wanna hurt (mentally/virtually)myself

You should have used the single action option to get the meta quality. The 5 action option is just there as a cheaper way to obtain the exceptionally difficult Whirling Contraptions. They are worth far more than 6 Echoes if you use them in Doubt Street.
Don’t let this turn you off Sunless Sea. The game is actually quite fun and nothing to do with Echoes per action. Give it a whirl; you’ll dig it!
First of all, the contraption requires ~60 E to get normally, so it’s not that big a loss if you need it either way. Secondly, it’s seldom a good idea to buy goods at the Bazaar if you can get them otherwise.
Edit: Perhaps I should refresh the page if I’m otherwhere for a few hours…
