Coming soon: a return to the Forgotten Quarter

Don’t want to spoil anything about the Temple of Uttermost Wind, but I’ll say that it’s definitely worth the Fate.

I got a single bottle of Fourth City Airag: Year of the Tortoise off of Shrine of the Deep Blue Heaven as the bonus reward. Not sure if this is a particularly rare or valuable item.

It’s worth 62.50 echoes and is normally only available through a rare success when converting Touching Love Stories or by trading 5 Cellars of Wine through the Presumptuous little opportunity card. A pretty nice reward, even if it doesn’t have very many uses. Keep it if your ambition is Heart’s Desire, or if you just want to be prepared for something in the future.

I’m going to explore the HELL out of the Temple of Uttermost Wind (which shouldn’t be hard, considering all the devils residing in the FQ)

So… I just had to come back from Polythreme in search of some Airag. Am I best-advised to (i) grind some wine cellars (from scratch); (ii) grind love stories (how?) and convert (to what?) and hope; or (iii) go explore this shrine? I’m guessing the last, but input welcomed greatly.

The Airag result on finding treasure is just one of a whole bunch of possibilities: Taking the Right and Honorable Laws of RNG Operation into account, if you are looking for that specific success you will literally never find it and might end up getting every other Unexpected Treasure while you slowly descend into madness.
I think you can grind Strangling Willow Absinthe in the Affair of the Box but i have no idea as to the relative efficiency of this as compared to other wine grinding methods

I got my Airag by getting bottles of Broken Giant through the Velocipede Squad (Riots in Watchmaker’s Hill). Once I got 25 I’d convert them into 5 Cellars of Wine and wait for the card.

That’s too bad - the Squad have already been broken up.

Wine Cellars are by far the easiest. Bonus points if you can become an author, at which point you’re paid with them. I wind up with a bottle every week or two as a result of happenstance, really.

Aw, that is a shame. Getting the Strangling Absinthe through the Affair of the Box is probably best then, or if you have 5,000 bottles of Greyfields 1879 you can try waiting for the Presumptuous little opportunity card to come up twice. Once to get 24 Broken Giant (convert some Strangling Absinthe if you don’t have 25), and again to get the Airag.

On the flip-side, going on Expeditions is both more fun and rewards you in plenty of other lucrative ways while you wait for that Airag to come up. Your Ambition isn’t going anywhere.

Yeah, Expeditions are the fun way to get some Airag, even if it isn’t necessarily the fastest.

I just like the huge diversity and apparent randomness of the reward. There’s always incentive to do it again and get a different result and no way to know if you’ve seen every one.

I did the Temple of the Uttermost Wind, but foolishly told the monk that I’d let him keep the prize without first enquiring as to what it was with one of the two zero-action options. Did anyone echo this content to their journal, or can someone PM me what they found?

On the plus side, I did get two eyeless skulls, so that’s… good?

All my findings are in my journal - that said, I must have been lucky, because I reassured him first and then encountered the teatime story again and quizzed him on both points.

I talked and drank with him multiple times along the way, I don’t think that was especially lucky. I took the prize and would definitely recommend the content. I do want to do it a second time though, and the option warns that it will erase the past. I understand that means the quality about him will be reset, but I’m very hesitant to do it again in fear of also losing my prize. Can anyone shine insight on this matter, through PM if necessary? I’d really like to keep it and also see what happens with different choices.

Before you start you get this as part of the message &quotIf you’ve met him before, this will erase the past, though you’ll keep any previous rewards.&quot

Well I just played the fate locked Temple of the Uttermost Wind. But didn’t get any of the options mentioned in this thread about talking or taking tea with the monk so it was a very short story for me and I didn’t get any additional information.

Also when I got to the end I had the Unpredictable Treasure Card but the only option was to pay 4 fate and the perhaps not option just returned me to the fate locked choice. I did get a good reward on using the Fate.

I’m not sure if this was a bug or a result of my choice in the Temple but if I hadn’t had any Fate/Nex left I would have been locked in an unplayable situation.

That’s deuced odd - submit a bug report on the off chance, I say!

I have.[li]

Editing to add - but I’m not going to play the fate locked story again until I get an answer. I’ve only got enough Fate to start the expedition now and don’t want to risk getting locked out.
