The wiki seems to have been updated to confirm what you’re speculating in your edit, so I assume that’s what’s going on here.
The text has yet again changed as more hunts were completed across players.
The knight in shining armor from Mr Chimes Lost & Found.
… the what? I don’t see anything matching that description …
I believe they’re talking about the dream of red chivalry. Lets you do a glasswork check so you can reduce ferocity
This is a very exciting new event! I don’t really know how we’re progressing or if it ends at a particular number or anything, but I’m enjoying it regardless.
I’m beginning to wonder whether it’s possible to pass the checks on the card, I’ve drawn it three times so far and had at least 3 actions each time, at 50% or 60% chance, and failed every one.
It’s not visible in-game, but our current progress is that it started at 30k, and we just dipped below 25k. My impression is that it’s dropping faster now than it was earlier, which might be the effect of Redcrosse Shields.
I’m looking forward to the conclusion of this event. Maybe there will even be a second phase! That would be cool. In the meantime, I’m going to ponder why all the textual variations of fighting the dragon mention the color red so much.
Reminder to equip Nightmares-reducing item when fighting the dragon in Parabola.
It can be as simple as a Cheerful Goldfish.
Or this one, if you had played Estival 2025.
The Red Queen and her court do like the hunt. It even says so on the vanity quality for it.
Haven’t really done a hunt in parabola in a long while. Got bored with it when I was hunting sharks to get Defender of Public Safety as well as 777 for the vanity quality. I remember it being harder too.
Edit: Seems the old strategy still works. Start the hunt, use “Apply your own knowledge” (Glasswork challenge) then “Push onward”, use “Demonstrate a sporting commitment to fairness” (requires “A Dream of Red Chivalry” and a Glasswork challenge) or “Wound the Draconic Nightmare” (requires being a Monster Hunter and a MA challenge) then “Trick the Draconic Nightmare into chasing you” (requires lvl 5 nightmares), and finally “Face down the dragon of nightmare”. Not sure of the stats needed, but I’m doing this with 243 Dangerous and 13 Glasswork.
Maybe it’s only cleared for those who don’t have access to Parabola yet, to allow them to continue to participate in the event from London?
I do have access to Parabola, as it happens, so that theory is unlikely to be right.
It’s one of those systems where failing gives you some of the quality each time. It maxes out at four, and then you only get the option to wake up. The second iteration has produced wins for me, with the third and fourth being successively more reliable.
A failure result during the hunt is pretty explicit about the Dragon’s identity:
It is the storm. It is the white king.
So it’s unsurprising that opposing the Dragon is associated with Red.
In retrospect I should have guessed the first of those two references, seeing as it has the appearance of a Dragon. Have we seen a connection between the two before? I suppose the former would be associated with that side of the chessboard given why they entered the Neath, but I haven’t before seen the latter identified as anyone particular.
If they are one and the same, then the Chessboard rivalry in Parabola sheds additional light on the events seen in Firmament Chapter 7.
In the Game of Chess dreams, the Beleaguered King is a follower of Storm. For example: The Beleaguered King stands impassively, shaking his heavy head. “The thunder told me,” he says. “I do what the thunder said.”
My suspicion is that the connection between Storm and the Beleaguered King is similar to the connection between the Red Queen from Firmament and the Red-Handed Queen: the latter is what remains in Parabola after the former died in the Neath.
BTW, has anyone checked if there’s anything new in the Mind of a Long-Dead God during this event?
I finally started passing checks, I guess the RNG just didn’t like me yesterday ![]()
Anyone try to reach out to the mind of the city since this started?
I did on day one. Nothing new there.
The World Quality is down to about 15% of its original value, so I would expect the dragon will be driven off in the next few hours. Or unmasked, or what have you.
I suppose in the original legend of St George, the dragon was tamed and put on a leash and given to a princess. Which sounds awesome right up until you consider which Princess is currently available in London.
I love how Firmament lavishes us with insights into the esoteric and cosmological elements and ties of the big players of the Neath, Parabola and High Wilderness. This does a lot to explain the Chessboard and the related dream qualities.
It’s interesting that Black is not involved at all in this particular calamity, but I suppose it makes sense as the Mind of London presumably has little reason to seek help with the Calendar.
Either way, I also adore the Saint George connection here. Really gives substance to this quote from the Bishop of Southwark: “Anyone who labours in holy service to England is St George, as far as I’m concerned.”
Come to think of it, Southwark really does pretty much embody London’s Mind. They’ve done a great job fleshing out both his more admirable and more reprehensible characteristics and making him remarkably human while keeping his trademark exaggerated nature over the last couple years…
EDIT: Oh yes, that’s one princess you don’t want to have access to London’s equivalent of nuclear weapons. Though I posit, from a thoroughly Black-White perspective, that no Red player should be trusted with such power.

Oh no. Oh no. Oh nooooooo
Well, if you turn to Parabola, you also have the Innocent Princess, who just happens to be the daughter of the Red-Handed Queen and is destined to be sacrificed to Storm.
