Christmas Wishes in Fallen London

[quote=malthaussen]If the Squid is a guaranteed score, then unless you wanted to send the Rat to someone who can’t be sent more mundane Rats, or were really feeling lucky (or reckless), then getting the Squid should be a no-brainer even if you already have something better, because they’re worth quite a few Echoes in the Bazaar. Of course, if the Squid is random, then it becomes more chancy, but if you have candles you want to keep, it would be very risky to do anything but give it to the Scuttling Company.

Squid?

The Scuttling Squid sells for only 10 echoes so if you have one already, or perhaps an item with a slightly different name, that option isn’t really worth it.

Also we’ve never had any reports of the Rat stealing candles outside of the rare success on lighting it.

Squad, squid. Potato, potahto. They scuttle, and they have many tentacles.

Hmm, I stand corrected and perhaps losing my left hand.
Be advise, the first and second advent windows have grayed out. So it seem we are unable to use past windows with a lag of 5 days or so.

I must echo that I stand corrected as well. I was hoping the shoveling would occur on Day 7, but it seems unlikely now. I am still hoping it will happen this week, but we shall see in due time. If it’s being replaced by something different, that could be refreshing. Anyway, I found Day 6 to be quite an hilarious advent event, while day 7 with all it’s glory is simply spiff. I am torn between getting a squad or risking it for enigmas, but I am leaning towards the squad because they do have a little more use to me in the long run. I’ll probably hold off a little bit, but this is quite a treat indeed, especially for newer folks as well. :D

I also love the light snow touch on the calendar now, looking forward to how it evolves over time.

[spoiler]Hrm, the code on the page updated to say “Let it Wax” instead of “Let it Snow.”

If you folks keep rewarding us for pulling at every thread, we’re going to keep doing it. (This shouldn’t sound sinister, but internet, so wanted to clarify it should be read as jovial).

Anyway, the snow on the advent calendar is coded to day > 6 light, day > 13 medium, day > 20 heavy, but the code itself is updated daily.

Having a Rubbery Rat would be awesome! Hope the Ratmas people can inspire the devs to make them :)

If you really must call a rain check on that chess match upon a scenic river

Global warming, just like the real world. A hundred years or so early, but it’s closer to Hell here, after all.

#3 is now grayed out as well.

Figures. It is just past midnight Zulu. Which would mean that the door for the 9th should open, eh?
Nope, not for me. I’m Zulu -5.

Those stone-pigs and their virichouse emissions!

Does no one else have the problem where loading the advent calendar causes your browser to go absolutely crazy, fade in and out of the grey frozen script zone, then hang forever until hard killed? I’d love to participate but it just doesn’t seem possible.

Firefox 42.0/ Ubuntu 15.10 - Additional details available on request.

I did manage to see the day 6 content because the door URL was briefly revealed and I was able to load that in a browser without incident, but the calendar page itself remains a killer.

Fortunately for those with computer problems, the codes are being copied to the wiki!

Yes, I get that (FF42.0,Mint17.2), in fact it seizes up the entire window manager. Usually, eventually, it comes back, responding very sluggishly but no longer entirely frozen, so I’ve been waiting it out long enough to click (although the wiki codes will make that much less unpleasant, thanks @Optimatum and wiki contributors!).

I’ve also seen that behaviour on a totally different website, also with some full-window animated imagery. I suspect it’s an HTML5 x FF specific issue, but the crippled UI that results makes figuring out which feature is tickling it difficult.

What a lovely shade of uh… I forgot where I’m going with this

BTW: Days 1-4 is greyed out. Maybe they were forgotten too.

Uuuuh… Well, this has been highly paranoia-inducing.

(What luck, I just visited the Cave earlier today! Teehee!)

I’m on Firefox 42.0 as well without any issue. Well, there’s a bit of slowness, but that’s probably due to my computer’s age than the browser.

I’m on the latest Chrome and the latest iOS and this morning trying to open the advent calendar window cause my device to go completely ape, all the windows were blinking rapidly and all my inputs were nonfunctional, even the home button. Had to switch the device off entirely!
