Christmas in Fallen London

I think your right, but also it would be an excellent way of using using the game mechanics to create that feeling that His Amused Lordship is supposed to have right now. All that preparation, for nothing.

(Besides the actual profitability if the card, of course)

Indeed, quite a let-down, though we really didn’t lose anything in the preparing. Trading equal value items, mostly, for me, since my Bohemian renown was not high enough for the magicians.

It will always be 1899 now, one suspects. The gift is a slight improvement to my home comforts, but I am most eager to see what is on the card.

Happy New Year from Oz.

One might suggest: A new alliance between lordships, criminals and revolutionaries: Lib(er)ation of the Night[club], an illicit new-years celebration, venue to be revealed through unexpected sources, keep an ear out, and be ready.

[Made this up out of thin air, decidedly not a serious guess, however, Early 1900s are thematically those of prohibition and speak-easies.]

So this is it? Trade Glim for an assortment of wines.

1250 Glim per attempt.

Better stock up on Glim now.

I like the synergy between this event and the recent crab-hunting. If you hunted continuously through both crab hunts (as I did), and didn’t sell off any glim since then, you would now have an enormous stockpile handy.

Well, speaking of New Years’ miracles - yesterday I finally obtained enough scrip for a hellworm. Today I got it buttered up enough to milk, and on my very first milking I got Masters’ Blood. Wow.

Is it still 1899? Have you recorded anything in your journal lately?

This might be a good way to get Glim:

Every action after the first 600 Convincing Falsehoods yields the equivalent of 300 Glim (30 Convincing Falsehoods).

I once had a ‘lucky’ death while out at sea, and had a windfall of Glim. However, that’s totally random.

If it’s always 1899, then lore-wise, what happens to those events that were done in 1899 (2021?). For example, the Great Digging event. Or the three Hallowmas masques (Baby, Moth, Crown). Do they happen again?

Heavens, I hope not! I can’t imagine that even the Empress would want to see London nearly collapse again.

Well, that answers my question as to when this card will appear. Standard frequency my eye. Hmph.

It appears to be a quite profitable card. So we essentially pre-charged a highly profitable card by… getting paid a lot with the Bohemian option.

I’d like an option to give Brian BLESSED a hug, but other than that, yeah, I’m comfortable with this.

Looks like sending the Unfinished Man to Wolfstack Docks is more profitable if you’re specifically after glim- sending to Mahogany Hall is worth 10xConvincing Falsehoods beyond the first 600, but sending to Wolfstack is beyond the first 100. Your non-glim reward is much less valuable (Blackmail Material rather than a Captivating Ballad), but your glim per action is much higher if you’re specifically seeking glim. In any case, I thank you for the reminder that the Underclay area exists at all, I tend to forget about these new sub-London locations!

The new sub-London areas were all basically introduced like &quothere’s this new area that you could spend a day or so exploring, or you could do some new Grand Clearing Out activities that will disappear forever if you don’t finish them today.&quot It was almost designed to make you forget about the newly unlocked areas. They were clearly the least important or memorable thing going on

What’s the actual EPA of that Underclay action, though?

I ask, because historically it was better to just buy glim rather than farm it.
What’s the actual EPA of that Underclay action, though?
It approaches 3.30/act if you have 15 Mithridacy, or 10 Mithridacy and played the Clay Man’s Arm, which beats the &quotcheaper to buy&quot limit.

Interesting. This may need some thinking. I’m not sure that grinding for glim that way is a good money-maker in the long run against the card, but it may well be so. Time for calculations, I guess!
Interesting. This may need some thinking. I’m not sure that grinding for glim that way is a good money-maker in the long run against the card, but it may well be so. Time for calculations, I guess!
At the max of 330 Glim/act, it takes 4.788 acts per turn in (3.788 making 1250 glim, 1 handing it in on the card) for an average (as of current wiki records) payout of 19.095. Theoretical EPA: 3.988 worth of mixed wines.

Which is very good if you want mixed wines! For non-theoretical values, minimum viable turn-in is 10 actions, which pays out ~19.095 wine once, 230 leftover Glim, 7.5 worth of Fossils (2.88 EPA over all). Pairing a 104-action Underclay trip with 26 turn-ins pays out at 3.90 EPA, which also includes 3 Fossils. …So we wrap back around to &quotgood if you want mixed wine!&quot I think, since the alternative looks like a single 9.5 EPA action right now.

Yeah, if you just want profit instead of wine specifically then the revolutionary option is a straight 9-10 echoes right off, so kind of a no-brainer. I wouldn’t be surprised if they nerf it soon.

Day 11:

Should I quit my current profession since the option for Silverer is bad?
