Bag a Legend, Part 1

Okay next two steps in “Spacebat 2: The Soich fer Moah Moneh.”

1:Punch a rather large number of people in the face at Watchmakers Hill (enough to cover the costs of the Vakeskin Boots, Copper Cipher Rings and Ravenglass Knives)
2: Go to Arbor and Cash in my Attar with the Roseate Queen (Bar one I need all the Favours for Echoes)

I’m going for the Cheap And Slightly Dirty Jaguar Blade on the proviso that I’ll only need one (I don’t have the Renown for What Might Be A Thunderbolt).

W-wait, you can hunt the Vake with What Might Be A Thunderbolt?!

DANGIT! I’ve spent literal YEARS getting enough Stormy-Eyed to get back in that dragon’s noggin and after literally finishing the Ambition I’m still not there yet!

Yes, the other components for completing Jaguar Blades of Wailing Hunger in addition to What Might Be A Thunderbolt are either 30 points of SMEN…or the Sevenfold Knock.

Does anyone have the journal entry for demanding an explaination from Mr. Fires about the replicate Mr. Veils? Was just going over other parts of the ambition, and found it interesting that apparently whatever Mr. Fires is building in his rented caves apparently involves using or generating pieces/emissions/works of the Dawn Machine, being as you can get an Element of Dawn from observing the work.

(The fires burn hotter than most fires in the Neath. The fuel, you cannot make out through the rippling air. It looks like paper, but paper would not sustain a blaze at that temperature. And even through your silks and disguises, it makes you feel observed. Critiqued. You collect a little of that fuel.)(

(&quotI suggested it was for the best that you not visit,&quot says Mr Fires. &quotI did not think the decor would be to your taste. Go back out into the dark. Enjoy it while you can.&quot)

Oh. Darn, all this time I’ve just been counting on a certain nightmare to get small increments. Whelp, guess I know where to go after I get more urchin favors.

Don’t have a journal entry, but have an explanation.
Veils replica is just a crappy wind-up doll, a symbolic replacement.
Dawn Elements are used to make forged Justificande coins, with which Fires intends to pay off a certain ridiculously large debt.

Not sure if anyone still browses this thread or if I’m late to the party, but today I found out it’s possible to make a replica of the Jaguar Blade. It’ll cost 10 Expertise of the Third City, a Ravenglass Knife and 125 Parabolan Research/regular Research, but not an Impossible Theorem since it’s not reinforced to kill a godlike being. Writing the description below since I have no luck with posting pictures on this forum:

Jaguar Blade, Remembered 1
It is not the original Jaguar Blade. That blade was destroyed, and the remains were lost in the Waswood. But this is in the same style, with the same Third City manner.
Dangerous +3; Glasswork +1.

Yes. Presumably, other ambitions received same bonus items.

Over the weekend someone posted to Reddit a screenshot of a Discord post from FBG, that they are aware that some Ambitions (cough Heart’s Desire) have better rewards than other and will be amending that. They also said that wouldn’t be fully addressed for a few months, since they have other content they’re working on.

Dears, as wiki is in some disarray, can please anyone advise me, what are the actual rewards depending on the choice of outcome?

My understanding is as follows:

Player kills all 3 Veils - A Vast Network of Connections.
Player spares Veils-of-the-Surface - Society of the Three-Fingered Hand.
Player spares 3rd City Veils - The Long-Dead Priests
Player spares Curator Veils - A Winged and Taloned Steed, I guess?

Also, do you get a Severed Head (+3BDR weapon) in either of the outcomes?

…as far as I see, mechanically, from BDR perspective the only really valuable item is the Steed?

What’s the best way to grind Solacefruit?

Curing Nightmares at your Parabolan Base-Camp. Good chance for Solacefruit there.

That’s pretty much right.

The Vast Network unlocks an option in the Bone Market to progress without spending money, and I suspect we’ll see other similar options in new content. The Society unlocks a guaranteed victory at the Chessboard, but this quickly becomes irrelevant. The Long-Dead Priests unlock an option for Parabolan Research, but it’s not particularly good. The Steed unlocks a fourth upgrade to the Parabolan Base-Camp defenses, but those aren’t very useful either.

I suggest choosing the reward you prefer story-wise. BDR will likely become less relevant with the upcoming Paramount Presence reworks, and the only choice with notable BDR is still tied with the Ratwork Velocipede. None of the advanced stat bonuses (Monstrous Anatomy, Glasswork, etc) are crucial either.

Thank you, delicious friend! Well, I’ve made a particular oath, so I might as well see it through.

I’m going with killing at the Vake-chunks.

Killing Curator was the Easiest bit, for the next steps I need 4450 Echoes (Enough for the Derringer, five pairs of VS Boots and 60 Copper Cipher Rings)

Whoever decided that dealing with the Intriguer needed 60 Great Game Renown Converters should probably be reprimanded strongly with vigorous finger waggling.

I’d just like to confirm A Winged and Taloned Steed, Formerly Mr. Veils is indeed the reward for sparing Curator Veils and I did get a Severed Head with associated BDR from the outcome. I also have the monthly reward on my mantelpiece, under the title &quotUnder a sky of false stars&quot although from what I can tell on the wiki the description text seems to change slightly each month. Last month I got something about one of Mr. Fires’ factories burning down mysteriously, for example.

Bit of a shame the Light Fingers gang get lots of paragraphs about their monthly, but eh-I’m still getting a kick out of riding a Master around.

I did it!

I killed all three Veils!

When will my BaL Quality update to 2000?

Light Fingers, Heart’s Desire, and Bag a Legend all have more and cooler rewards than Nemesis (the one I chose). On the other hand, I can at least say that I had the chance to kill, but spared, two different Masters.
