Accidentally sold my soul!

So, I got a card asking me to sell my soul, and not even for a good price since it was from the trade In Souls one. I Had INTENDED to kick the devil out onto the street like the scam artist he is, since I wanted to keep my soul. However, the scroll up bar on the side of the internet combined with my own lack of looking betrayed me.

So now I have My Very Own Infernal Contract and 1500 Nevercold Brass Silver that I don’t know what to do with. Yay.

I was wondering if you kind gentlemen could tell me how to get my Soul back, and if they are any… advantages to soulessness I can enjoy in the meantime, as well as the downsides.

My condolences for your misfortune. I’d be delighted to tell you how to find your soul again, right after you hand over those 1500 Nevercold Brass Slivers that you didn’t want anyway.

A joke in poor taste, I realize. The advantages to soullessness? Propaganda aside, none. Well, to be honest, it will clear out your opportunity deck of all those Intimate of a Devil cards, so that’s an advantage of a sort.

On the other hand, there’s not too many disadvantages to soullessness, either. House Sommerset at the University won’t want anything to do with you, so some of the options there will be locked (think high society options), but it will open a few mischievous options as well.

But the path to finding your soul again lays through going through a lot of garbage. Seriously. You need to open a lot of Bundles of Oddities with a value of at least 100. If you hit 100 exactly when you open one of those Bundles, your soul will be inside. And to the best of my knowledge, you can’t lose it again.

If there’s any other way to regain it, someone more knowledgeable than I will have to chime in.

Thank you for your reply. Although I have to ask the best way of getting the right kind of Bundles of Oddities now I’m afraid.

Also, is Your Soul a item or do you just regain it? I don’t want to mess up again and sell it at The Bazzar or some other stupid thing.

Also, do you end up keeping the Infernal Contract or do you lose it when you regain your soul? I’m curious because I’m trying to Instrct a Louche Devil to get Slivers to sell for a Overgoat and eventually a Ubergoat (Just so I can say I have them. Also , i guess there is a reason for the slivers after all.) And if you keep it are they any good uses for it?

You lose Your very own Infernal Contract, as that is the only item/quality that is used to check to see if you’ve sold your soul or not.

The best advantage of being soulless is the gift you can get from the Capering Relicker. Assuming that you’re not already eligible for some other gift than the Primordial Shrieks, which apparently you would be if you’re involved in the Soul Trade. So for you, no real advantage I suppose?

Thank you. Now, another question on getting my Soul back: What is the best way of getting the right kind of Bundles of Oddities? My profile can be found here if it helps:

http://fallenlondon.storynexus.com/Profile/Kylestien

well i can’t be a gentleman and help here :P

…but you need exactly a 100 value bundle of oddities, so anything that can get you higher than that, although the lower the maximum above that the better, 'cause it gives you better odds.

I believe Fun with the Fisher Kings is the usual go to option for that; it goes up to 130.

You lose the Infernal Contract if you get your soul back, that’s the indicator the game uses that you don’t have a soul.

There are lots of bundles that can potentially give you your soul back - any that has a value of over 100. Most of them come from cards but if you have access to the flit and some connected urchins and a lot of patience you could try join in their games on the Fun with the Fisher-Kings storylet.

Also a card &quotWhere’s my Soul?&quot will turn up sometime and you can start a Fate-locked quest to get it back.

By the way you can lose or sell your soul again. As many times as you want. Edit to add - unless you are a Seeker and have stained it but that is on hiatus at the moment.

There seems to be quite some ways to lose your soul. Not even counting the SMEN path as that is a masochist path all in its own right.
Anyway, as far as I can tell there are 2 ways of going about getting your soul back

 1. Go through a lengthy and possibly quite expensive storylet called &quotLooking for your Soul&quot.
 2. Go to the Flit and open Bundles with the Urchins until you get a lucky roll at about 1% chance.

When you think about it, it’s kind of a no-brainer. Should I make money with the possibility of sth especially helpful or choose a storylet riddled with item-sinks and luck checks.

Do you agree with this assessment or am I missing something?

EDIT: To moderator please append this post to the &quotAccidentally sold my soul thread&quot I apologize for not noticing it.

Thank you. I am glad to hear losing your soul has no real repercussions. Although now one has mentioned it, on the off chance my soul becomes stained in the future ( HIGHLY unlikely since I am not foolish enough to pursue such things, but I will ask anyway) is there anyway to clean the stain or is your soul forever marked/ And good and bad again please.

Also, if any one of you wishes to be friends with me, you can find my topic here: http://community.failbettergames.com/topic9263-looking-for-friends-advice-and-any-and-all-items.aspx

I am also looking for any and all items you would be kind enough to give be they small or great or even hurtful, and in return I will gladly assist in any way I can, even taking on a few menaces. (I have 11 memories of light so I will even take some Nightmares if need be for something good since I believe they send you to a less punishable place)

There aren’t many things someone can send you in-game. From the Give A Gift card you can give second chances; jewels; rats or a surprise package. From your inventory you can send a Starveling Cat or First City Coins and some people have Parabolan Kittens - a consequence of backing Sunless Sea on the Kickstarter. As it says in my signature send me an in-game social action of any kind - coffee or chess for example and I’ll send you a kitten.

I sent a Chess Invite with a (hopefully) nice message. I intended it nice anyway. (:

If you could tell me how these work I would appreciate it.

It was a very nice message and a Kitten should be waiting for you:) I hope that I answered your questions at the same time.

Thank you.

A couple of things:

I am confused by the wording of this. Do you mean that I need Sunless Sea to do anything with the kitten? Because I lack that game or the means to play or get it.

As for your requests on Social actions, I will do my best to inform you of dupes, avoid Pass The Cat, And consider whether or not to involve you in The Affluent Photographer or Loitering before making a decision. However I apologise in advance if I mess up, thoygh i will do everything in my power to avoid that. (;

And thank you. The community here is very kind. if you ever need anything, send me a message and if I can help i will try.

The kitten is a very nice mid-level persuasive pet even if you don’t play Sunless Sea. You can play with it in Fallen London but that only opens up an option in Sunless Sea so it is probably not worth spending the action.

You won’t mess up on the social actions, if I accept something I do and if I don’t you are only out an action :)

Fallen London does have a great community, there is nearly always someone around to help if you ask.
… so it is probably not worth spending the action.
Playing with the Parabolan Kitten is a 0 Action option though. :)

Bundles with the urchins does cost you connected urchins, so you’d also need a reliable way to grind connected, and where would that be?

Does letting the deviless get your soul remove the cards and the storylet, even if you recover your soul?

Do you think I’ve time enough to get it back, playing with the fisher kings, before hallowmass and the possibility of a nice prize from the soul trade this year?

Best to not risk it?

If I do play with the fisher kings, that costs connected, right? Where’s a good grind for urchin connection?

There’s actually a grind for urchin connection in the same spot where you Play with the Fisher Kings. Unusually convenient. Probably a bug.

I’ll have to check the wiki and see at what stat it unlocks, as fishing is the only option there of the moment.

Lucky me, it is the only one of the ones I do have permanently unlocked.

The Devils only like you for your soul–or, at least, the Affectionate Devil’s tastes lie in that direction; the Quiet Deviless is decidedly more confusing. When you regain your soul, you will find yourself accosted by them once more.

As for getting it back before Hallowmas, you might want to spend five dollars on a bundle of a hundred Fate for that; it’ll allow you to start the fate-locked Get Your Soul Back quest, and you can use what’s left (there will be a lot left) to get Exceptional Friendship and whatever shiny new visions this year’s festivities bring. Otherwise, the methods described above are the only ones available to you.
