A Little survey on POSI specializations

It is not a secret that demographic stats are usually unproportioned. There are a lot of divisionings that divide (and characterize via obtained proportions) social groups: net worth and income, profession and education, demographic profile (age, gender) and even religion. Prolonged observation of this thread made me curious about avaliable patrons quantity and their most or least popular specializations.

Is there any corellation between whom newer players want to see as their patrons and those who are avaliable to be someones mentors ?
Perhaps we may find that out if we gather some statistic data. So, do you care to share with the data you might have ? To make this little survey more accurate please write your alts POSI specs in the comments.

My two alts haven’t reached the needed level yet, but in case this is relevant, Loogan Cuthoat is planning on becoming a shattering force. Don’t know about Ally Mooney yet, they’re not even PoSI.

&quotSpecialization is for insects.&quot Robert Anson Heinlein.

There should be a title for maxing everything. After all. some people aspire to be polymaths even if they can’t do arithmetic.

Sir Fred’s a Mind, Hubris is a Force, Juniper will be an Eminence, Esther will be a Charisma. Doctor Taupe-Wainscot, naturally, will be a Paramount Presence. (Doctor Taupe-Wainscot will almost certainly not be a Paramount Presence.)

I’ve decided to not commit to any specialisation, because one day the route to paramount presence will be found (okay, it will probably never be found, but I can dream, okay?), and I don’t want to be denied the option. Being an extraordinary mind would actually be useful to me, so I’d go with that if it wasn’t irrevocable.

Monsieur is going to be an extraordinary mind. Even though his split personalities will probably get pretty angry.

Must confess that I’m surprised by the digits so far. I expected that shattering forces will be the most unpopular sort, but seing so many extraordinary minds…

Extraordinary Minds are probably the most popular since you might very well need to be one in order to attain Scholar of the Correspondence 21 without Fate (and even with Fate you might not want to give up your Destiny).

I have not chosen yet, but I plan on being a Legendary Charisma.

I wouldn’t be so sure.

I am an Extraordinary Mind just out of roleplaying reasons, honestly. I prefer my character to be recognized as the foremost mind of this wretched city rather than as its most violent thug. But that’s just me.

I know there’s a roleplaying aspect to it, but for those who do not play the game in that way there’s an incentive to pick Extraordinary Mind over the others, thus making it more popular a choice than the others.

Perfectly true. But, as a last remark, while my Persuasive and Watchful are 200, my Shadowy is 130 (yeah, I’m really slacking) and my Forceful is 160. The roleplaying aspect for many players determines what attributes will first reach max: and once you max one or two attributes you might as well specialise in one of those instead of waiting for the others.

So the prevalence of Extraordinary Minds might come from people tendentially preferring Watchful storylines/ventures.

My older character’s stats at this moment are like: 206 dangerous → 200 watchful → 198 persuasive → 120 shadowy
His priorities in values can be easily recognized. Yet, I have to object your statement that being a shattering force is also being an epic thug. Being lethally dangerous doesn’t necessarily mean being villainous… Not always. Sometimes. Yeah :3

Ah, I see your point. I always kept my stats about even, especially by the time specializations came out. Extraordinary Mind fits my character decently enough, though really I think I just wanted the potential for SotC 21 without giving up the destiny that fits them perfectly.

Huh. This is a curiosity! Due to the re-imagined trackers, my Watchful is lagging behind my other stats (160-180 shadowy-186 dangerous-198 (nadir downed from 200) persuasive).
I knew I didn’t want Charisma but it’s going to take my preferred two stats a longer time to crawl up as I wanted to pick one of the two specialization.

Sestina is a Legendary Charisma. Fei Xue will most likely be a Shattering Force-- people who can kill other people, unite! I am making/have made both choices purely due to RP reasons…

What do Invisible eminence and shattering force actually change other than allowing you to get those stats to 215?

If those 15 additional points are not enough, than maybe RP reasons and the ability to help people to upgrade those stats.

PS: I accidently pushed &quotreport to moderator&quot button instead of &quotReply with quote&quot… Clumsy me (Shadowy is decreasing…)

Generally speaking, since there are so little mechanical use for them, I’d think people are picking based on potential feats in story.

Given the focus on lore and mysteries in FL, Extraordinary Mind is a pretty natural progression for most players. Doesn’t hurt that &quotbeing clever&quot sounds universally useful, especially in a whacky metaphysically chaotic place like the Neath, so that you will learn something the others cannot.

Invisible Eminence requires Gloam-Foam, which is not very good. Sometimes that just little push is enough to steer people away. Being &quotLondon’s best kept secret&quot might sounds less than stellar for narcissistic burglars, too.

Shattering Force sounds nice - be fearsome and punch things! Except by the time you get to this stage, you found that for the majority of your London life you don’t actually get to scare / punch people that aren’t one-shot irrelevant nobodies. You can’t even freak out the Struggling Artist. People still send assassins after you.

On the other hand, these two are significantly higher in demand as patrons. Shadowy is especially painful to train beyond 70s, and shares the multi-action grind with Dangerous.

Legendary Charisma are… well maybe you have a better chance of boinking Iron or something? But they are less useful as patrons for sure, since the Persuasive tracker is really lenient.

I haven’t picked a specialisation despite having been a POSI for ages. Mainly because I am paranoid that I will inadvertently close myself off from future content by doing so, with no immediate benefit.

For what it’s worth, if it made no difference I would definitely choose to be a Shattering Force. Dangerous was (intentionally) the first stat I maxed to 200. I had every intention of specialising immediately before becoming paralysed by indecision.

I managed to get to SotC 21 without being an Extraordinary Mind, otherwise I suppose that might have factored in to my decision making too.
