A Little survey on POSI specializations

Eris is an Extraordinary Mind, because… well, of course she is.

She’s a total bluestocking (metaphorically, of course - her actual stockings are very expensive and fashionable) so it was a natural choice.

Your missing an option.

My character wants to find the OTHER specialization.

I seek to be a paramount presence.

There should be a title for maxing everything. After all. some people aspire to be polymaths even if they can’t do arithmetic.

There IS one, it’s just not been unlocked yet. Join the hunt. SEEK with us…

Despite being near the charisma for…well, Charisma, Eddy prefers the shadowy pursuits and is an Invisible Eminence.

I’m still nowhere near reaching 200 in any quality, but when I do reach the requisite level, I’m definitely going for Legendary Charisma. My Persuasive already has the edge over the other stats (125 base compared to 88-105 for the others) and my character has always been closest to high society.

@Ben: Yes, Paramount Presence would do nicely, but my thought was that there should be a lesser reward for achieving 200 in each stat.

Amoury takes it as a personal insult of the highest order that the Glass Door is scuffed beyond visual clarity so that he can’t know what is inside. He’s equally curious about the others too, of course, but not being able to see through the door of Knowledge is just especially galling. Extroadinary Mind was the only choice, under the circumstances.

My brother is a Shattering Force, but doesn’t use the forum. I wonder if there’s a bit of a sampling bias?
(I’m a plain old Extraordinary Mind)

The Academic will either become an Extraordinary Mind or a Legendary Charisma, but she doesn’t have Persuasive or Watchful anywhere near 200 yet (150ish and 125ish respectively).

I am a Shattering Force because I break the mold and every expectation. No rule of light can contain me nor mirror imprison me. I will smash through all walls that stand between me and my heart’s desire. All will shatter and fall before my might and tremble! Mwahahahaha!

Plus I can get an extra 14 rats per action more than anyone else who isn’t also a shattering force with max modified stats and gear at the DoME. Knowing that I could one day overtake Spacemarine9 in an all out rat-race, even if it would take 7 years to overcome his 1 million rat headstart, fills me with 【determination】.

((My alt is a Legendary Charisma, because irrigo and the Lady in Lilac.))

@NiteBrite: reminds me of a RPG I played once. All the characters were avatars of gods with special powers. One had the power to change anything, by saying “This cannot be, because it must not be.”
We were mucking about in a labyrinth and getting nowhere towards our goal, when the god with that power simply started tearing down walls. We bypassed the DM’s whole lovingly-designed series of deathtraps and made it to the end in no time. Ya got to watch out for those unintended consequences when you’re a DM.

Bernhard Schmidt is a newly minted Legendary Charisma. More in the lines of a deviously effective speaker than perhaps the more seductive persuasive inclinations.

I think the fact that three of the Ambitions use Watchful has an influence on the large number of Extraordinary Minds running about.

^Knowledge is power. It is not like we got very far in most stories from hitting people.

I plans to be a Shattering Force in the future, regardless.

A shattering force who had 203 Dangerous but it dropped back down after many rounds of treasure-seeking in the irrigo. Don’t think my alts will be playing the MWs game much.

My main went for Extraordinary Mind because she fancied herself as a world-class Scholar of the Correspondence. My alt is a Legendary Charisma, because she has always relied upon charm to get what she wants and has honed that charm into a weapon.

I specialized about fifteen minutes ago as a Shattering Force. I’m not sure what exactly to do with it now that I’ve got it, though.

Saevitia, bless her heart, lacks a certain amount of tact and has a very short attention span most of the time. As such, the most direct route is her preferred route, even if that means boring through a wall instead of climbing over with a rope. Brash and impulsive is pretty much her M.O.

None of my alts yet qualify, but each intends a different specialisation.

Deguello is something of an admirer of the often vilified but never dull Sir Richard Francis Burton, and is similarly an explorer, duellist, scholar, and publisher, and not averse to the occasional shady undertaking in the interest of research, funding, or excitement.

Still a long way from a decision on specialisation (Watchful 117, Shadowy 103, Dangerous 131, Persuasive 111), he already knows that the decision will be a difficult one. Currently he is leaning toward Extraordinary Mind or Legendary Charisma, but that might change depending on where and how his adventures lead him.

Char_Name is going for Shattering Force, no question asked. There’s a long route ahead for her though.

Aoditor waits patiently for the gate of Paramount Presence to unlocks. They’re partial to Legendary Charisma and Extraordinary Mind, however.

It’s interesting to note how many expresses intent to wait for Paramount Presence in stead of committing to one Specialization or the other - perhaps this would skews the data toward there being many more Paramounts at the end of the day?

I’d not begrudge Failbetter making more Specializations-specific content/choice, either. Might push more people off the fence.

This. There seems little reason to choose since the perks for being one or another are so few and far between. The ideal would be to become a Paramount Presence but that might as well not exist >_>
