@Little The: what was your Cityslicker when you went into Day 1/Evening?
I just finished playing “Day1/Evening.” It was very good. I have just a couple of technical corrections:
- Whenever I increased my “aide to the governor” quality, the quality number did not show up at the bottom of the storylet, though it accurately appeared in my Qualities list.
- The name of the last place I visited before going to the party (Platform No. 1) appeared at the top of the page, beside the “Welcome to Story Nexus” text, and did not vanish no matter what I did.
- It’s now 22.
Good stuff, thanks @Little The.
@Catherine: the former is a platform bug I’m trying to figure out; the latter is a graphical thing with the platform that I think is part of FBG transitioning to a new layout. (But don’t quote me on that!)
Please note that we’re doing some tidying today in preparation for the World of the Season deadline.
You shouldn’t notice any changes other than a few prose tweaks. If we need to make larger changes, we’ll post an announcement here.
There are two hotfix changes for Day 1/Evening going in to address how easy it is to complete all of Day 1/Evening’s questicles:
- The number of successes required to unlock the “end” branch on each Opportunity card in Day 1/Evening has been slightly increased[/li][li]The “end” branch on each Opportunity card in Day 1/Evening now advances An Evening Under Lamplight by two ticks, not one
We expect to release ALL of Day 1/Evening to both our open and closed beta testers this afternoon. Stay tuned!
Typos first:
in the game of dice opp. card “end” branch, the result says: “The other gamblers pay up. And they don’t even gamble”. should probably be “The other gamblers pay up. And they don’t even grumble”
In the harvestmen plotline, the “into the woods” card says “seem to be flicker through the darkness” should be either “seem to be flickering” or “seem to flicker”
In the astrologer opp. card, “end” branch, the result says ““Again” – he deals – “again” – his face more each time.” his face more what?
Now that that’s behind me, I really liked day1/evening. it has a great feel, and the opportunity cards are fun to play with. I managed to play all of the opportunity cards to their end, which I think is NOT what you intended. You might want to consider adding more cards, so people would have to choose which opportunities to follow.
I like how the harvestmen and mission subplots mix in with the party, but I must say that I’m somewhat surprised to see that just about anyone I’ve met so far has managed to get into the party. the afternoon content gave me a feeling that this party was a bit more exclusive.
Day 1/Evening is now live for ALL PLAYERS!
This is our last content update before the Season of the World competition. Please wish us luck.
As always, we love to hear your feedback. And as always, but especially for this content bloc, PLEASE TAG ANY SPOILERS UPFRONT.
From all of us on the Zero Summer team: thanks for playing. We hope you’ve enjoyed Zero Summer so far. We’ve sure enjoyed writing it for you.
CLOSED BETA PATCH NOTES: DAY 1/EVENING
General
[ul][li]Day 1/Evening takes place entirely at Sunrise House. As such, your Opportunity cards have been replaced by special Opportunities available only at the party.
[/li][li]For the duration, your Location Quality will be replaced by An Evening Under Lamplight, which functions as a running clock on the party. When it gets too late, all of the Opportunity cards will disappear – so make sure you focus on the cards you like best, as you never know when you’ll run out of time![/li][/ul]
Day 1/Evening

[ul][li]Day 1/Evening is now available! It contains ~50 new Storylets and will take you ~100 Actions to complete.
[/li][li]The first part of Day 1/Evening features no advancement of the main plot. But keep an eye on the clock…
[/li][li]Players will be able to continue through the next installments of Hallowed Ground, Cutting Your Spurs, and The Harvestmen.
[/li][li]Special Opportunity cards are available for Day 1/Evening only! All of them have rewards – some mechanical, some financial, some informational. But be careful: you won’t have enough time to play through them all![/li][/ul]
SIGNIFICANT SPOILERS AHOY!

OK, I’ve played through the second part of Evening Day One, taking up Santo Guerrero’s Gun, then using the Comanche Charm before arriving at The End of the World. My next question is, now what? There doesn’t seem to be anything for me to do here.

There should be a card called The End of the World available. Is there?
Hey I’ve logged and re-logged into Zero Summer multiple times. No cards are showing up. It just shows the heading thing for pinned cards, but there aren’t any cards. I had completed all content up to the point where this newest update should have began. Help?
Sarsmos, please clarify: are you having trouble moving from Afternoon to Evening, or from Pohoee’s party to the second part of Evening?
Pohoee’s party to the second part of the evening.
I think I may have fixed the problem.
If not, please let me know the following Quality levels:
- An Evening Under Lamplight
- Time to Move On
- The Postmaster’s Right Hand
- Location
(Please let me know whether the problem is resolved. Thanks!)

I don’t know if it takes a while for updates to happen but nothing’s appeared after I re-logged.
- An Evening Under Lamplight : I don’t see this quality
- Time to Move On: 1
- The Postmaster’s Right Hand:3
- Location: On login it will say Amarillo: Platform #1 but if I refresh it’ll say sunrise house.
In the text for “Solarium”, the phrase “A two story vertical shift” should be “A two story vertical shaft”. Looking great otherwise, so far!
The card is available. However, it has no branches other than ‘Perhaps Not’. What now?
@Sarsmos: that tells me you haven’t finished both of your subplots. Which subplots did you pick? I’ll diagnose on my end to see if I can’t figure out what’s going on.
@Catherine: thanks!
@ladymadsci: Ah ha! I figured out what was going on. Try now. :)
I had The Harvestman and Cutting Your Spurs. I thought I did. For the Harvestman I learned about the daddy long legs and for CyS I’m now Mr.Door.
@Sarsmos: Ah ha! I think I’ve got it figured out. The last Harvestmen card wasn’t properly increasing your Time to Move On. That’s been fixed. What’s your character name? I’ll reset your Time to Move On to 2.
Oh, that makes more sense. Guess I’ll just have to wait for the next installment.
