Greetings. If I may, I have a few questions.
1: Can someone tell me a bit about Storynexus? As in a beginner’s primer on how it works, things to know ETC? I don’t intend to make a game, but I AM curious. I feel it important to note at this point, that I have Asperger’s Syndrome and thus if you can put is a simply as possible without being condescending it would be appreciated, since sometimes I can have difficulty understand the context behind some ways especially, when it comes to complex game making things like this.
2: I’m also thinking of maybe playtesting/experimenting with other SN worlds a bit to see what’s out there. Can you recommend some good ones?
Thank you for your patience and time.
Hi there,
To answer your questions:
-
StoryNexus is very similar to Fallen London - it’s basically the same, but they changed the design of the pages and some details of how game mechanics work. For example, you can have more than one deck of opportunity cards in StoryNexus, and they never run out, but you have to pay an action to draw cards from the deck. There’s also no Bazaar and a few other details are different.

Out of the few StoryNexus games I’ve played so far, I liked Maelstrom the best, as it has decent role-playing mechanics and open-ended game play. It also limits your actions (unlike some games, where the action bank is set way too high), so you’re always left wanting more. You can also try the game I’m developing if you like - it’s still in testing, but you can message me privately if you’re interested.
