I remember that there used to be a lot of cards that allowed a player to invite a friend from the Surface (i.e., to ask someone to join the game). Some of those gave benefits to both the sender and the receiver. Then, one day, they were all removed. Now, apparently some of them have come back, but not all. At least I think not all.
I’d like to know which of those still exist. The wikis are no help - it’s difficult to search for them specifically, and some of them are listed as active when they are not, or vice versa. How many ways to invite friends are still active? I remember that there was one that required having the Preening Macaw, and gave both some Connected: Hell. Does something similar to it still exist?
To the best of my understanding, the best way to invite a friend from the Surface is to mention that there’s this fun free online game with plenty of references to English literature that they might want to look into. Which is to say that I don’t think these have returned yet.

When Fallen London started, it was necessary to have a Twitter account to play, and you "invited" people to play by Tweeting your activities to your Journal. That turned out to be more of a nuisance than a help, and eventually the "Tweet to the outside world" aspect was removed, though the Journals remained. Later still, it became possible to play through a Facebook account or an e-mail account. So word of mouth is the best way to invite others to Fallen London–there isn’t an in-game way to do so now.

To the best of my knowledge, all of such options have been removed from the game and all of them should also be marked as "Retired" on the wiki. Do you know of any such specific action which is still available?
Also, if you note something inaccurate or out of date on the wiki, please highlight it so we can improve it (if you don’t want or don’t know how to update the wiki yourself just leave a comment there and we’ll make the proper edits - I try to review every wiki edit and comment made).
Even after that was removed there were still occasional storylets with an ‘invite a friend’ option that let you enter in their email and they’d get a piece of interesting text along with a signup link (and as April mentioned, a few rewards to start off their gameplay). I used one of them to create my alt & neither of my accounts have ever been connected to a twitter, so I know this was a fair bit more recent then that, if still probably three or four years ago
