My Lacre level is 8, and I have two buckets. What should I do to get the most from it? I would rather get use out of it then watch as it disappears.
According to your profile you don’t seem to have upgraded your lodgings from 4 cards to 5 cards. So sell your soul if you have one, then choose The Way to Privilege down at A Sundered Sea. That’ll cost you 3 x Notability, so get that too if you don’t already have it. Then study your two pails through a Semiotic Monocle to get back to Taste of Lacre 6. (Assuming you have Scholar of the Correspondent 10+, otherwise you could fail and not get anything.) With Taste of Lacre 6 you could go back down there and Pilfer a large, mysterious box because you don’t want to be left out when it is revealed that they contain treasures beyond our wildest imaginations. Or horrors! Probably horrors.
If you happen to also have a room at the Royal Bethlehem Hotel you could instead keep your soul and choose The Way to an Eyrie which only costs 7 Taste of Lacre instead of 8. With two successful Monocle studies you’d get back to 7, at which point you could keep it and find the Catafalquerie in the Cave of the Nadir and open the sarcophagus with the black ribbon. That’ll cost you 7 Taste of lacre and give you a vial filled with Tears of the Bazaar, in case such treasure would interest you more than the mystery box. If you hurry up and get the first tears before the pails melt (soon!) you could do that twice, in case you can’t or won’t or already have upgraded your lodgings.
EDIT: Apparently the urchins no longer sell pails of lacre, so I guess that means that they’re very likely to melt when Time, the healer, comes by next time. So you’d better hurry up spending that Taste of Lacre if you want to be able to study your pails with a Semiotic Monocle. (That is, if you want to get the +3 Taste of Lacre from each of those studies.)

Thank you, but where can I sell my soul again?
Thank you, but where can I sell my soul again?
The devils used to have an offer during Christmas, while the urchins were still selling pails of lacre. But I recently saw The Western Tower card, and they no longer offer to buy souls. If you have a room at the Royal Bethlehem you could still upgrade that, or if you have a Tears of the Bazaar you can apparently risk it by trying to sniff the fumes, gaining +1 Taste of Lacre if it works, or +2 if it’s consumed. That way you could even upgrade your Premises at the Bazaar, if you have them.
I suppose you could also sell your soul through the Fate-locked Trade of Souls story, but I don’t know the details of that, in case it takes time, and Penstock’s Wicket might close before you can manage to sell your soul.
