Weel;y Fallen London Questions, 11/05/2026

Here’s this week’s thread for any Fallen London questions you don’t want to start a whole thread for!

Who first created the Gaoler Librarians?

Ooh, that’s a question where it’s easy to narrow it down but hard to get exact.

So we know the Stacks are generally White-aligned. It’s where things that are Against Law are removed to, and also major themes of ontology and categorization which means the Judgements telling you what they are. This is all under the authority of the Judgements, and in service of enforcing that authority.

I think the big question is whether they shape the Stacks directly, or if it’s been delegated. The Vulgate refer to their “Lord,” and several hints make it clear that’s Storm, so that’s who they report to more directly. The Bonefolders are currently enemies of the Vulgate, but they were originally allies and had complimentary functions. And the Stacks seem to be closely related to the Aeginae’s specific function of redacting time.

Now I’m not all the way up on my Skies lore, it sounds like the relationship between Judgements and Aeginae is complicated. But the Stacks don’t seem like a Dragon’s style, so I think that domain is perhaps Judgement-created and their agreement means Dragons banish things into the Judgements’ prison. But even so, the Vulgate could still be Dragon minions rather than Judgement minions. They have similar powers after all, that of excision.

But we just know so much less about the Bonefolders. One possibility, based on nothing at all, is that the Bonefolders are the Judgements’ agents and the Vulgate are Storm’s agents, representing their respective interests in the joint venture that is the Stacks.

Is there anything one can do in the Hinterlands to increase the odds of drawing the Hellworm card? I figured I’d try for some milk for cheese-ing, but the RNG is being slightly stubborn.

Only drawing somewhere with minimal local cards, I think. I generally use Balmoral.

Draw cards in the locations with the least amount of location-specific cards: Marigold if you haven’t built a statue there, otherwise Marigold or Balmoral.

The only other way to thin your Upper River deck is to not do some permanent choices:

  1. Don’t get the Tomb Colonies and Docks 25-Renown items
  2. Don’t build an Outpost of God’s Editor in Burrow
  3. Don’t play the conclusion storylet of the Crate Commotion event.

If you have already done any of these things, there’s no way to revert the choice, not even with Fate (the Crate card will expire with the next event though).
