Here’s this week’s quick questions thread!
Thanks for the reply in last week’s Q&A thread. It seems like this might be a small bug in the patron message text? I get offered 3 classes, but only 2 are really on offer?
Anyway, next question: remind me who the best buyer is for the brass lollipop? I remember this discussed in the clearing out, but my search has left me confused.
What are you actually looking to acquire? Brass lollipops are usually a grind for acquiring Hinterland Scrip, but I thought you were pre-Railway. If you want Hinterland Scrip, then probably the Constable.
Hello, I’m a returning player currently trying to regain my bearings in our fair city of London and I’ve recently put together the screaming map to Polythreme. I got the first half before my break and I got the second half just recently for the sake of completing it. My question is this; is there anything of interest to do in Polythreme as for the life of me I can’t remember why I started pursuing the screaming map in the first place way back when.
(P.S. My current goal is to continue my character’s Nemesis Ambition and I’m not certain that a trip to Polythreme would help me towards gaining an Iron Republic Safe Conduct.)
Polythreme is required to pursue Nemesis. The Iron Republic Safe Conduct is acquired from the Numismatrix via Mark of Credit Pages, so the trip to Polythreme is not relevant.

Scrip indeed. Just built Ealing! Thank you.
The bazaar there is very odd. Some expensive items sell for only 1 scrip. Not yet sure what’s good to sell, but I suppose I’ll work it out.
Has anyone noticed that the Flit’s “Steal Paintings for the Topsy King” is resetting your casing if you back out to go to heists? I don’t recall it doing this in the past. Make sure to click on the “Attend to other matters” instead.

Failbetter is intending to overhaul Polythreme before the end of the year. You might want to hold off your visit until that content is released. The current incarnation is notorious among players for being frustrating.
Many thanks for your reply, I suppose I won’t visit until required and (hopefully) only after the overhaul like PSGarak suggested. I’ve another question, however; how often does the ‘Where’s my Soul?’ opportunity card pop up? I’ve recently begun to miss my soul quite a bit and I would very much like to get it back. Specifically asking for the general interval it would take for it to show up in my deck given its Unusual Frequency. Would it likely show up within a week? A month? It would be nice to know how patient I’d have to be but given how many cards there are and the fickleness of luck I understand if giving an estimation would be impossible.
The Location of the Cave of the Nadir. Is there any benefit to not selling it to anyone and everyone?
That card is just leading you up the garden path – it doesn’t include an option to recover your soul unless you’re planning to spend Fate. High value surprise packages may contain your soul, however (Something Unexpected). There is an option at zee (not rescuing folk, I believe). One’s Public card (first option), and one in Wolfstack (Crying his Wares on the Wolfstack in the Fog card, go for the coat IIRC). The percentages are all very low, but the packages are best at 1%. Good luck!
The only effects of selling it are that your “closest to” is changed to that faction (if applicable) and you get the reward item. Selling or not selling has no further effects beyond that, so there’s no benefit to not selling it.
You can only sell it to one buyer.
Not selling it to anyone carries the significant risk of accidentally selling it to the devils. It happens distressingly often.

More like low-medium value. The number you want to hit is exactly 200.
I don’t think any of them get anywhere near as high as 1%. Surprise Package goes all the way up to 1000, so the odds of finding it in one of those is a tenth of a percent. I think One’s Public is the highest chance, and 0.5%. Trading favors with urchins is a little worse, at 0.43%, but you at least get the scraps from it
You’re right, I misremembered the number.
Has anyone else had a sudden unexplained drop in notability in the last couple of days (definitely unconnected to Time the Healer, for multiple reasons)?
(I’m planning to report it as a bug, but if it’s happened to other people there may be something obvious we have in common that’s useful to mention.)
I apologize I should’ve made it clear that I do intend to spend fate as I would rather not gamble with chance. However, I do appreciate your response nonetheless.
You didn’t go and presumptuously buy that bottle of MB in a definitely hazardous arrangement, did you? Cos that comes at a cost of 7.

D’oh! I did indeed get a replacement for the bottle that I exchanged for a certain book. Completely forgot that was this week until you mentioned it.
Now I feel (even more) like an idiot!
Any suggestions on the best options for grinding elder items? I really want antique mysteries.
I bred a seal, but that’s a lot of actions since you’d have to go get another. Any time I go to arbor I’m in and out with presbyterate passphrases, but that is random and the RNG is my enemy. Picking pockets in spiteis 100% and I can trade 50 trophies for 2PP & some mysteries, but that’s not much. I’m considering governing for the striped delights, and burgling feducci.
Anything I’ve missed? What’s the best grind?
