Here’s this week’s quick questions thread!
What if I want to ask my question slowly?
We might answer slowly, too. ;)
Hmm… how do we differ between a quick and a slow question? It’s not like the time between start writing and posting is displayed anywhere, aaaaaand Iiiiii dooooooubt thaaaat prooooloooongiiing wooooords wiiiill doooooo theeeee jooooooob.
Maybe the disinction is not between quick and slow, but quick and dead. No dead questions here, please.
Unless you are a tomb colonist.
Indeed. How about undead questions?
What exactly constitutes undead in a place, where Death is a stranger and where it’s rude to imply non-livingness in our tomb colonist friends?

Undead questions probably means necroing a thread from 2015 to provide a new answer.
Also Death isn’t a stranger, we’re pretty familiar with each other now. He even lent me a chess set.
I just noticed this text in the March ES post (maybe I missed it in previous ones?): "You no longer need to log in to claim your Exceptional Stories! If you have an active subscription when one is available, you’ll receive it automatically."
So does that mean that we don’t have to play each ES by the end of the month anymore, or do we still have to at least start it?
Before, you had to at least start it. Now, you don’t even have to do that. That changed about a year ago, I think.
Yes, they will completely clog up many of your pages if you let them. Happened to me. I am an old hand at ignoring ES until they become a problem. Thankfully, as of a couple of weeks ago, for just about the first time since becoming an Exceptional Friend, I have no ESs on any of my pages at all. Finally got through 'em all! Woot!

There’s so much new content for endgame players though it can be difficult to keep up.
Is there any way to accelerate your progress in the Dream qualities, most particularly A Game of Chess? I’m bound and determined to have the Pax Homines as my Parabolan infantry, which requires quite a bit, but I lost a fair amount after calling on it in the Garden of Nightmares as part of the Heart’s Desire ambition.
None that I know of. It’s all about drawing the right dream cards. Thing is, you can dismiss your parabolan company anytime you like and rebuild it. So you can start the war without the PH, and then disband and reform the company after you’ve gotten your dreams of chess to 15 if that helps.
Aha; that is good to know, thank you.
I’m about to get kicked out of court; since I can’t think of anything useful to do in the colonies, is there any way to fast-forward that? (like sending Scandal-reducing requests beforehand and resolving them as you’re exiled somehow)

You could in principle do expeditions to the Wellspring in Moulin - the flasks of water you get give +1 CP to either Death by Water, A Game of Chess, What the Thunder Said or The Burial of the Dead (randomly) when you drink them. This would be very slow, though.
In the Cave of the Nadir, the card "A Weakness in the Air" has an option that gives +1 to all Dreams. I know it’s not much though, and requires luck.

You can spend items and connections there to speed up the process.
